    Personally, I like the in style shower fixer. I figured out how to use it if you don’t like styling with soaking wet hair. Just wet your hands then emulsify a bit of the gel in your hands. Along with your refreshing tip, this keeps my curls defined well into my next wash day.

    I’ve been using the flexi curl smith gel and love it. I have to use quite a lot to get good definition and multiple days out of my washday but it doesn’t weigh down my fine hair at all. I have fine 2c/3a curls and it’s works great. I use a curl cream underneath for moisture as I have high porosity hair. I can get 3/4 days without any refreshing at all. Would definitely recommend. I’ve tried the weightless leave in conditioner but I can’t use a leave in I’ve realised because they over moisturise my fine hair. A little curl cream works better for me I’ve found.

    I have now tried all 4 of these CS gels. My favorite is the Curl Defining Styling Souffle’ as I get the best results for my fine medium/high porosity hair. I prefer a protein gel and I took your advice and used a protein cream under it. My second choice is the Hydro Flexi Jelly and I got amazing results too ! I bought the smaller size of the Shape Up Aqua Gel and it left a terrible residue on my hair and my hair got all in tangles in spite of the gel being very runny it glommed on to my damp hair. I had to wash it out. Maybe I needed more water but my hair felt dirty and it wasn’t a good wash day . I guess we learn by trying. I’ll try it again another time. I told my hairdresser about your channel because of your knowledge and you list all the ingredients and that’s extremely helpful. I’m a pharmacy technician and I love learning about ingredients and I’ve learned so much about all the different effects of the ingredients they use in the products. Thanks Gena. 🤗🌹😻

    I have fine, low density hair and have been loving the in shower style fixer. My hair tends to be too soft, and this gel gives my hair some grittiness that helps it retain volume. My best Curlsmith wash week involved the multitasking conditioner as a rinse out (although I adore it as a leave-in), the weightless air dry cream, and the in shower style fixer. Made it to day 4 NO REFRESHES.

    • @kryki_cha6206
      @kryki_cha6206 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ojosdepechicheonline I like to walk the line between damp and soaking wet. So wetter than damp but not soaked, if that makes sense. But the wetter your hair when you apply it, the softer the results in my experience. Adding more leave-in and/or cream before the gel will help with stiffness as well. The humidity will soften it up too, so having it slightly stiff when you first scrunch out the cast might be a good thing before venturing out into the humidity.

    Thanks for this! I wonder if mixing some water into the hard hold gel before applying it would help it go on more easily. I haven’t tried a hard hold gel yet, but that has helped me with other products that I was afraid of over-doing.
    I disagree about the curl pattern not mattering though. I have a looser wave pattern with more “down” than “side-to-side”, and any amount of stretch noticeably changes the shape, so I’m always looking for the lightest-weight product that can do the job. I agree that other factors are more important (coarse hair can resist product weight better than mine), but part of it is just geometry: folks with a tighter pattern have more shape to lose, and may not mind sacrificing a little of it for their other style goals.

    Hi Gena , I was thinking of getting the aqua gel , first time using Curlsmith . I live in Florida and the humidity is REAL. If I use the hold me softly style balm with it , even though it will be a light hold will it prevent frizz ? I’m just afraid it might be too much of a humectant and basically evaporate out of my hair the moment I step outside lol

      @GenaMarie  Před 3 lety +2

      You can use both, but I personally don’t find it necessary. The Hold Me Softly Style Balm is more rich, gives more moisture and helps with curl clumps. The air dry cream is a leave-in conditioner that is lightweight.

    Gena! I totally relate to what you said on 3:55 ! It's crazy bc I never knew what to do with that section of my hair. The front and inside strands are fine and soft, so the protein that I use to help them, I think it makes the coarse section even coarser. To this point it's not even curling properly I don't know what to do
    Would you help me??

    • @prettykittyga76
      @prettykittyga76 Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! I know this is a late reply and that your question wasn’t for me, but I would say to deep condition the coarse section of your hair with a very moisturizing deep conditioner on a weekly basis if you don’t already and to use only moisturizing products on that section. You may have to initially use a clarifying shampoo if you have been using protein-heavy products for a long time. I would continue to use products with protein on the finer front and inside sections, but to avoid using them on the coarse section. I know that it may be somewhat inconvenient but you have to treat the coarse and fine sections like two completely different heads of hair because the care that they require are completely different.

I have very similar hair to yours, low density as well and since the beginning of april I've been experience excess hair loss! I can literally pull out the hair, just by pulling very gently :(. This is not something that can be diagnosed over the internet. You should go see your doctor as soon as possible. This could be related to some health problems. Allergic reactions usually have allot of pain and discomfort and warning sign before extreme hair loss.
