I served in west germany at the end of the 80's. Was in berlin at the end of 88 and remember the fall of the berlin wall in 89. I liked Germany as a country but once the berlin wall came down we would be sitting around on camp doing very little. I made lots of mates, some of which after well over 20 years i'm still in contact today

I served in the BAOR and BFG, I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan from Germany. I know some wife's were upto no good when their husbands were away. Mine eventually did too.

I was a BOAR child, sister was born in Hannover, spent my childhood in West Germany and have good memories of living there. I left Fallingbostel/ home at 16yr cause I wanted to go into higher education and doing A-levels in BOAR schools was tricky to say the least.

@Will Derby I think the Para Sqn was just being phased out when I joined up so I don't know how it operated, though some of the older guys had been in it. I was a good regiment, but the three Lancer regiments that existed when I joined up have been reduced to just one now.

@Will Derby We certainly came from a different time. Just think, we spent all those years keeping the Commies out, but they spent as much time infiltrating everywhere and now it's looking like we'll be living under it ourselves before much longer.

@Will Derby I bought myself out in 77. John Mayor was the one who destroyed the regiment, but all politicains are corrupt, self serving bastards.

@Will Derby It was Major who did the first ammalgamation of the 17th/21st and 16th/5th Lancers. A few years later there was the second one which totally destroyed the lready ruined regimental system. Hitler couldn't have done a better job in destroying the Army than those treasonous vermin in parliament. I believe you gave the right advice to your Grandson. In effect you are really fighting wars for the bankers that control the puppets in government. I can see a future where troops are used against the people to rnforce vaccination and anything else they have planned for us.

@Will Derby One of which will have to be all female and transgender. The Army is getting more like the RAF every day!
