  • 6 bells, 15-0-15cwt in f
bells 1,3 are cast by John Taylors of Loughborough. bells 2,4 and 5 were cast by Henry Penn in 1717
and the tenor was supposedly recast by Thomas Osborn of Downham market, Norfolk in 1791.
for some years the bells had been hard to ring as they weren't in the best of condition but in 2023 they were refurbished
by local labour/ guild assistance, they had all their wheels, headstocks and bearings on bells 1,3,5,6 were replaced because the bearings
were in bad condition, especially the tenor which would hit the frame when ringing,
the louvers were also replaced and now a screen covers the louvers to stop the pigeons getting in.
the bells are really nice for their age, especially the tenor which is a really fine bell.
some of the bells didn't have their weights as they were unknown and the tenor used to be 14-2-23cwt but is now 15-0-15cwt.
I posted a video in 2023 on a Facebook group called post your church bell pics and one of the people to see the video was none other than
Nigel Taylor who found the details of the bells when they had been overhauled in 1938 by Mears and Stain bank
when the current 6.4 frame was installed as well as the fittings for the bells,
information about the bells have been updated including when the bells
were refurbished in 1894 by Thomas mallaby & Sons as well as their true weights and fittings.
