Hey buckin I love helping elderly people they have every tool you can think of and i can listen for hours the story's they have about when they were children I can tell you enjoy helping people kindness have a great day buckin army great videos love and happiness take care
What a beautiful morning. Woke up to a notification that there is a Buckin video. My dad had one of those file guilds, which my brother has now. We don’t use it, but love pulling it out and remembering dad.
That Homelite is sweet! My grandpa bought one in the 60’s and I still have it! I broke the fuel inlet nipple off the carb though fooling with it. It’s just nice to look at and remember cutting with my dad. Be well All
Another old powersaw ready to lay into the wood! Thanks for all the tips and tricks you have shared with all of us since this channel started! Love to you and the family❤️
Love the old homlites, I have a pile of them that were my dads your vids are inspiring me to get one going, kids these days with their auto oilers don't know the fun of having to pump the bar oil with their thumb lol.
Good morning sir. Your eyes fine. Annoying thing to have is all. Had an old Homelite like that in the early 70s. Brilliant saw. Love the old hard nosed bar on it. Bit of a curse when it rained with the old points system. Stay safe.
Buckin Billy, I found out years ago that tooth length was not as important as bar and groove wear as well as drive link wear when a saw was cutting wonky. I am glad you are telling people as it truly is. I will be looking at all your videos on sharpening. Love what you are doing out there in the west.
Thank you Buckin' Billy Ray...I love my old XL12☺! Red Eye Ray gettin' 'er done!! So I noticed fuel trickling out the gas tank cap. I betcha the duckbill valve in the cap is disintegrated. It's an easy enough fix, just pop out the brass cap vent, stick a new duckbill in the hole then pop the vent back in! Safe cuttin'! And howdy to everyone☺
Hi Buckin, Great video, interesting ideas that come from years of filing! Looks like Bobs bar is well worn with the amount of daylight peeping out from under the tie straps! Nice to see a stellite tipped bar still in use. I think I'll need to get me some loggin' loafers like yours for the summer holidays! Ha Ha.
Good morning everyone! Bob's lucky ta have a friend like you. Ever thought of wearing a face shield? Or safety glasses? Your eye's looking better, just gonna take some time. Be safe and keep moving.
See ya later Bob lol. Great help there and useful information, nice one captain. How is everyone well I hope. Let's all welcome our new friends joining us let's make them welcome and feel at home. Hi true blues. Have a great evening. Stay safe
When you were getting ready to put the saw in the vice to sharpen it, I was almost saying out loud, "You forgot to tighten the bar nuts", but then you remembered. lol
Buying gadgets to sharpen a chainsaw is a complete waste of time and money.... I love the XL/12 Homelight but everyone probably already knows that lol... Great video Billy Ray 👋🙂👍
I respectfully disagree. Not everyone runs a file enough to be good at it so they need training wheels so they dont blow their saw running a dull chain. That particular filing jig he showed can do round and square filed chain. If you have never hand filed a square chain then you wouldnt know how difficult getting the profile correct it. Square ground is the ultimate but not everyone can afford a $1000 grinder.
Howdy to all new and old subscribers!!! Love you all! Always enjoy it when you visit the Walker’s good people! Great saw love that give her a sharping for Mr.Walker! She cuts eh?? Lol!
How ya doing Buckin? I’ve a 362xp with a 24 bar. I want to get a longer bar (36) for milling but one isn’t made. How do I “make” one fit. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. 🤗
Hi Bob! Nice job on the chain, Buckin'. Noticed the gas cap was leaking a stream when you held her bar down. Might want to see if he can find a different cap. That Homelite sounded nice :)
I have had "tree guys" tell me to file each tooth the same amount many times, and I never believed them. I always cared more about sharp teeth than a straight cut, thank to experience and your videos I've learned to get both. (with raker management) Buck'n please make a video on raker managment :)
Good old saw that one… a little leakage in the fuel cap, but that's how those old saws get after 40-50 years of service. I'm glad that both of your eyes aren't red.. you would have been a scary lookin' dude.. oh well.. the nicest little devil in the Western hemisphere anyway.. Haha!! All the best to the Buckin' Army and a big welcome to the new subscribers :)
...just put a new duck bill valve in the cap, and she'll be good..likely the old one turned to tar..just pull the sintered brass plug out, and the duckbill should be under that(unless it's already dissolved)...
I love it. How’s everyone doing this morning? Well it’s morning here anyway. “I farted out my eye” hehe, but seriously Buckin you should probably get it checked out. Hope everyone has or had a freakin great day. 👍👍👍
roofin Tony Ach he makes it look easy sometimes I think he uses chains made of lead for sharpening videos lol (props!) especially the left hand strokes! I'll be better at it in a few years lol. Chin up buddy 👍
Greetings Brother Buckin'! I am just working on a couple of Homelites, a C8 (Canadian made) and VI 200 (58cc), that one is a beautiful and quite rare saw (again Textron Canada made). Strangely the C8 is supposed to be an 85cc saw, but it has a side plate on it that says model 200, which is a 115cc saw! It ways a ton so it might be the 115 cc power saw (it is in good shape and a guy gave it to me...haha :) Hope your eye clears up soon!
Nice Job Bud! Question… is there a certain file size to use on chains, or are the basically all the same? And what would be the best file to get? Thanks Bud! 🤝
I had a XL12 with the manual oiler. That "muffler" really got to your ears. That manual oiler would tire out my thumb after a while. Cut with an old Stihl 034 super now that has one or 2 plug changes in the 25 years I have had it.
Buckin, I have an old XL12 that was given to me last year, but it was missing the Spark Plug, do you know what Sparkplug Bob uses and what the Gap is suppose to be?
Awesome edutainment video Buckin! Love all your videos and positivity. From Texas here and first time commenting but love everything you do. Curious at the 20:00 minute mark looks like there is fuel leaking from the gas cap or am I seeing things?
I have been watching several post you have here on you tube lately, as I'm laid up from driving truck for a while. You sir are extremely good at dropping a stick. You seem to come within a inch of where you want it on the ground. Most of all your collection of saws is very impressive. As a kid growing up in Ohio, we only had a central downdraft furnace we heated our farm house with. I mention this for the reason of a chainsaw we had at that time, a David Bradley, sir, it was a beast for a kid at 14 or so when I was allowed to put my hands on it. Have you ever heard of a saw by that name. I do hope to hear from you on this and I do so wish I still had that saw. My goodness that was long ago, I'm 57 now and not in any shape to run a saw now but it would be cool to hear of one again. I love your saying "be kind to one another friends". Good day sir
I have an old Echo CS330EVL here. Doesn't even have a chain brake on it. It is my best cutting saw. It runs and cuts better that either my Poulon or my Tanaka. Yes, the others aren't that great of saws, but you got to get what you can afford. I got the Echo and the Tanaka saws for free and cleaned them up and minor repairs and they now run. The Poulon I got free and it is junk. It runs good, but every time you set it down to move a piece of wood, it shuts down and has to be restarted. Has been like that since new and has been to the shop too many times to count and no one can tell me why it is like that. It lives up to it's name, you have to 'pull on' it constantly to restart it.
I would have thought that was a 404 chain do they even make 404 still? My first toppin saw was a little red homelight i got at a pawnshop for 30 bucks it ran like a scalded dog! Youre filin n Bob's smilin cuz he knows that chain gonna eat wood in rapid fashion thanks man i bet he cant wait to hit the wood pile
BILLY they tighten up because of thermal expansion (HEAT) of the bar. The roller nose makes a big improvement of friction control when the roller is greased properly. When the bar does not have a grease hole just soak the nose of the bar in oil overnight with the chain on FRIENDS. What brand of files do you prefer BUCKIN BILLY ??? PEACE to you all. V
I got blue marker i mark my chain link so i know were i started lol i use my vise all the time i got around 12 saws 7 of them homlites xl12 and super xls got stihl sears ranger 3.7 i got 4 of them all run lol
an other good vid buckin but GO get ur eye checked out u only get 1 pair so look after the 2 u have better safe than sorry GET IT CHECKED or and come take u by the hand to the doc
my father inherited his father's homelite; it was miserable; it used to cook the gas; temperamental starting, heavy and you had to be careful you did not burn your hand on muffler beside the handlegrip, and no chainbreak made it dangerous in heavy brush which it seems is always what we were cutting and to top it off the old man used to make me burn all the brush and we were in the woods who gives a shit; what a waste of energy
Rough, un-edited, straight out of the garage video. Loved it!

That new square ground chain always cuts better after I sharpen it once. I been hand filing with the vallorbe square file for @ 4yrs
almost got one of those teal met you said no ill do it just like you and it works
That file-o-joint rig can file square chain! That's a keeper. Get a 3 corner file in it and it would go to town.
