Yaasss I love seeing folks that had a relatively painless experience because that's what I'm hoping for when I get my PRK in a few weeks. Thank you for making this video!!!
It’s not that bad for most people. The problem is that people who have bad experiences tend to post about it more. People who have good experiences are too busy enjoying their vision. But the bad ones, people make sure to sound the alarm and let everyone know. So it seems scarier than it is. Most people can see pretty well after a week, and almost perfectly after a few weeks.
How was it?
@@L11ghtman did you get it too?
@@Thecoolcjay Yes and it's been amazing. With PRK you're uncomfortable for a few days and then you have perfect vision, ideally forever. I'm at 19 months now and my vision is still perfect. My biggest recommendation would be to go to a good doctor. Don't ever get any kind of surgery at a budget place. That includes LASIK/PRK. I got PRK from one of the best doctors in the country. That made the entire experience much better.
Thank you for this video! I'm scheduled to have PRK next month and I've been so anxious about it. I now feel so much more at ease with it. Bless you! I'd love to see updates!
You are going to be totally fine! It happens so quick, and recovery really isn't that bad! I'm going to do a year update!
How is your vision now please
Great video! Extremely helpful for me and useful to explain to my family without scaring them! Just got through the PRK 2/27/20-3/3/2020.
I never leave reviews but this was so helpful! This was a scary process and your video made it seem like it was worth it! Thanks for taking time to do this! Hope all is well on your end now! Good luck!
How is your vision now?
Thank you for this video! I am about to get PRK... and of course, I have been searching youtube videos on the procedure. (Not the best move). This one was calming. Especially the part about the blinking. LOL in my mind I feel like I'm not going to be able not to blink... That was reassuring.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Your video put me at ease. 🤗
A follow up video would be nice as other people are thinking about prk in the near future , like myself.
I posted a follow up a year after my surgery!
Wow you are the first Person with PRK surgery that sees clear on the 6th day. Dr. Said it will definitely not happen in that rage of time, but I guess everyone is different.
My prk surgery is the day after tomorrow and I'm so happy to hear about your experience.
Haii ... How your vision now... I am very worry about me because its my 3ed day after PRK and still not looking clear

Wow, u r the 1st person who say u can see clearly just in 6 days.
I am in Day 15 n my eyes are blurry.
The rest of the people who did PRK didnt get clear vision till 3 weeks to 1 month.
How do u recover just in 6 days?
i had the same after a week it was super sharp till week 3 then it gets worse and after 2 months its gets better again now i see super sharp its diffrent for everyone some people take 6 months to a year
this is definitely the best video I've seen on this, thank you so much! my anxieties have eased about getting it :) also happy that valium worked for you lol, I'll definitely do the same
I had PRK 1/22/2021. I had no pain at all after surgery. Just minor direct light sensitivity for 24-36 hours. I did feel the contact from time to time but not painful or annoying. Got the contact removed 4 days after surgery. Interested of 7. I recovered fast. My vision before was 20/40000 and after it 20/30.

Hello, hope you are fine
Kindly tell me hows your eyes now specially your night vision? Are you facing any halos, starburst etc
And one more question do you have any astigmatism before prk?
Hi there, did your vision get worse when your contacts were removed? Mine got removed today and my vision is terrible, the way it was on day 2 & 3 (I’m on day 7). I saw much better with my contacts in.
Same with me. Contacts got removed yesterday. How's your vision now?
@@chiragjhamnani630 my contacts will be removed in 2 days time. Did you vision improve ?
Quick question I know it’s been two years since you posted this sorry! Lol but when they took the contacts out did they put numbing eye drops before, because I’m scared of the feeling of getting the contacts out since my eyes are so sensitive ... and I’m scared I’ve never had contacts on my eyeballs lol
Yes they did. I just had my contact lenses (bandage) removed yesterday
Do you see halos?
When did you notice your vision was “normal” ?
I’m getting it and I’m SO scared about recovery.
I honestly didn't really see halos. Maybe for a couple days, just at night watching tv. It took about 5 days for my vision to completely stabilize. You honestly have nothing to worry about! It was such an easy recovery, and i'm so glad I did it!

I’ve been looking into the Belmont eye center. I’m on LI. How long did it take to get consultation and PRK surgery, from the first time you made contact with them? Also, what was the total cost? Thanks.
It was about three weeks start to finish, and cost around $4500
Thank you for the info and for replying.
hey! Does it hurt ?? And is it safe??
Hi , thanks for the video I’m in my 1st month after prk , my left eye is healing slower than the right , right now my vision is clear close and blurry in the far , how many days spend for you to see clear ?
It only took me about 7 days to be able to see clear, but you should talk to your doctor!
hi, how is your vision right now?
When can one expect vision to stabilize or reach 6/6 in PRK treatment?
How many percent could you see right after the Laser treatment
How has it been 2 years later ?
Just stumbled upon your channel through this video! I found this video so helpful! How are you doing now that you are a few months out? Also, do you plan on doing an update video about how things are going since you've had the procedure?
Hey Jordann! I can definitely do an updated video, but there isn't a lot to report on. I've been totally fine since surgery and have had zero complications. My vision is now 20/15. I have my next check up in November and am hoping that I will be at 20/10! So glad you found it helpful!! Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Heey can u tell me those goggle type glasses you had at the end of your video. Like what theyre called .
Hi Candi! They were provided to me by my doctor, so I'm not sure what they are called.
@@AsToldByAshandShelbs I think they are called eye shield goggles. They are use at night so as you sleep you don’t rub you eyes on your pillow or your hand accidentally during the night
what was your vision before the surgery? i have bad eye sight too. cant see far away and i have a little astigmatism. but i know my vision is far worse than yours was based on how you described you can still make out what you could see. however my vision is so bad i cant go without glasses or contacts. i have never been brave enough to think about getting lasik so wondering if prk would be an option. im going to do some research bc there seems to be no risks with getting it done and im beyond tired of wasting money on contacts lol
I couldn't see far away either, and I also had an astigmatism! My vision was around 2.3 in both eyes! PRK and Lasik are very similar but in the long run I'm glad I went with PRK.
Can u do a update on your surgery please or reply on comment please please it would be really helpful

Hi! How long was it before you were cleared to drive? I’m having PRK 12/28!
Since I live in NYC, and don't have a car this wasn't an issue. I was going out of town two weeks after surgery and I was cleared to drive by then. I think it all depends on your healing, but probably anywhere from 4 days to a week after surgery, but ask your surgeon to be sure!
How was it, considering it’s been one day
How many days to take improve your sight after prk surgery

@@aep19 How did yours went?
Immediately after the procedure ("Day 0"), I experienced extreme pain. Days 1+ were not bad. I passed most of the time with my eyes closed, listening to audio books and napping. After 1 week, I could exercise. After 2 months, if I used the computer for many hours, my vision became blurry. Now, I'm happy with the final result. My left eye is not great, but it is better than before, and my right eye is PERFECT. I'm happy with my decision. Contacts = inconvenience and risk of infection
@@aep19 ,
How much did your left eye to catch right eye.
I got trans prk one month ago and still feel blurry and double image in my right eye.
I’m very acne prone so not getting my face wet is stressing me out. My surgery is next week. I’m going to ask my doctor if I can wear goggles to wash my face like normal 😂
You may be over wasking your face and causing too much trauma. Try only washing your face/ taking shower once every 3 days. Your face will clear up. Use a regular bland soap and never use make up ar acne treatment again.
i have mine tomorrow morning
Wow, i had my PRK surgery 8 days ago and they covered my eyes for 24 hours and put me some drops then had to go every next day for more drops until the 4th day when they removed the bandages from my eyes and i finally could see, but i was so dizzy that i felt i was drunk lol and they gave me the sunglasses, now on after 10 days they will remove the protecive lens. i see blurry still i tried to take 1 week off and hope from that point where they remove the protective lens day my vision starts to improve, my only advice for people is when doing it, dont feel scared just dont move and it will be fast as hell, when you are at home resting, the first 48 hours are a bit rough but tolerable, im a very anxious and nervous person, if i did it everyone can, i will give a update in 2 weeks or 4 i had 4,25 on my left and 6.40 on my right and also keratoconus so i had a PRK cross linking procedure to be exact the doctor recommended me the minimun usage of tv screen reading or mobile aswel. So this video kinda plays with what my.doctor told me.

None really. Recovery was really simple. There was just one day where I kept my eyes closed pretty much the whole day but other than that it was all good!
After how many days where you able to work in front of system
6:11 Your friend or family member just casually talks about having brain surgery and doesn't expand upon it. How can she do that to us? 😂
11:52 ‘ it was around 10 minutes. ’ and I’m just here like come on man it’s 15. Not that hard to go from 19-34 right ? Jesus. Otherwise great video ♥️😂
If prk is supposed to be more safer and no risk of your Damm flap coming off than why is lasik still being used just get rid of it and use prk
Because you recover quicker with lasik. Your vision is 20/20 within 48 hours whereas with PRK it could take up to a month if not more.
Think laser may be necessary for those with more serious eye conditions (cataract, cancer, etc.) and elderly patients
@@Sophie3647s not sure about cancer, but cataracts you can get refractive lens exchange
Prk has a higher infection risk, more pain and longer recovery. The risk of the flap becoming disloged is very small. I think it's a good option if you have a desk job and can't just take a month off. However, i am planning on getting prk myself
Thanks for sharing your experience.
