  • It's November, and before I get into the holiday season, I'll be taking a look at a Winnie the Pooh movie that overall is an average mess when compared to the other Pooh movies and shows. And this okay, yet weak entry into the franchise, at least to me, is...Piglet's Big Movie (2003). Enjoy!
(Sorry for the late upload. This month has been hectic on me, with the election, getting a sore throat, getting back to theaters and catching up on 2020 movies, getting ready for the holidays, and more. So some of the reviews I have planned this month might be postponed until January. But there will be a Thanksgiving review and maybe something extra before starting Happy Sulli-Days. So, stay tuned.)

Piglet is my personal favorite Winnie the Pooh character. Like all the characters, he has a big heart of gold and manages to do big heroic deeds.
When I first heard of this movie, I was looking forward to seeing it based on the title. I only managed to see snippets of it growing up, as well as the nice music video of Carly Simon playing “With a Few Good Friends” over the end credits. I was not expecting a music video to appear during the end credits, and it was a pleasant surprise! That music video introduced to Carly Simon herself to me, and I must say her contributions to Winnie the Pooh were heartwarming and sweet with these beautiful songs, and I hope she does more.
Years later, I finally saw the movie itself in full, and while I did like some of it, and still enjoy Carly Simon’s beautiful songs, the story was a bit of a letdown, as Piglet gets very little screen time, and instead of a big adventure of self-discovery, it’s mostly a montage of other well-known stories with Piglet as the main focus. I get their intentions, but I was hoping for Piglet to have a wonderful adventure of his own.
I love Winnie the Pooh with all my heart. It’s a classic series, but I wished they had done a better job with the story in this.
This isn’t a bad movie, but it didn’t fulfill my expectations on the story. Carly Simon’s songs are still beautiful to listen to, and Piglet will always be my favorite from Winnie the Pooh.

Thanks for mentioning Carly Simon in this review of this movie, Sullivan. This movie introduced me to Carly Simon, and I enjoy all the songs she contributes to this movie - they’re a joy to listen to!

Besides the big party scene towards the end, my other fav part of this movie is:
Piglet: (lifting himself on a stick) "Hello." (the stick tips over) "Aaah!"
    And then:
Piglet: (launching himself off a stick with a snowball) "Aaaaaaaah!" (hits another stick)

I never saw this but I love Carly SImon's music, so that certainly must help the movie along. Are there any Eeyore-centered movies? He's my favorite Pooh character.

I don't know of any except Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore, which is a short film.

To be honest I used to love this film when I was very little but looking back at it nowadays I kind of agree with you it’s somewhat of a average mess

@@sullivanbard Sounds good. Are you planning to do a full review on Toy Story 4, Onward, and Soul? What are your thoughts on Raya and the Last Dragon?
Are you planning to do anymore written reviews, and what Top 10 lists do you plan to do next year? I was thinking you could do Top 10 Favorite Disney Moments as one of them. Since you did a good job with Top 10 Scariest Disney Moments, I thought you could do this as your next Top 10 List. What do you think, Sullivan?
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁 🍁🍁

@@ajmohawk2993 I plan on talking about Onward and Soul soon in a mini-series I have for 2020 movies since they're all over the place this year. I thought the trailer to Raya was good and I will review that when it comes out. As for Top 10 Lists, I have one for next year on Classic Disney Movies and next month will be on Christmas Commercials. I'm not sure about Disney Moments since there's a lot of them.

@@sullivanbard I’ll look forward to it! Thank you Sullivan!
If you like, maybe you could extend Top 10 Disney Moments to Top 13 or 15 Disney Moments. Since you managed to do Top 5 Least Favorite and Favorite 2019 Movies, maybe this could give you the chance to go over all of those Disney moments.
As for Piglet’s Big Movie, I agree with you about the climax and Piglet mostly being absent until that moment occurs. It felt like a missed opportunity of them to give Piglet some shining moments in the movie.
My favorite Pooh episodes with Piglet are: “A Knight to Remember”, “A Very Very Large Animal”, “Me and My Shadow”, “Prize Piglet”, “Piglet’s Poohetry”, and “Gone with the Wind”. I haven’t seen some of the other episodes, as I’ve only seen a handful, but it’s a great show. What are your thoughts on those episodes?
Who is your favorite Winnie the Pooh character? Piglet is my favorite, but I would put Winnie the Pooh and Tigger tied as runner-ups.
Lastly, are you planning to review some of the other classic films, like Sleeping Beauty?
      How about reviews on:
      Dinosaur
      Atlantis: The Lost Empire
      Lilo & Stitch
      Treasure Planet
      National Treasure 1 & 2
      Brother Bear
      Meet the Robinsons
      The Princess Diaries
Sorry if this a lot for you to do, as I enjoy watching your content. I’d love to know your thoughts on all of these. Take all the time you need, Sullivan! Take care and stay safe.
      Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃 🍁🍁😉👍
