    Don't forget those two white ribbon cables! They are very easy to wiggle out and wiggle back in. I bought a labelled 'broken' 32x online a few years ago. I cleaned the ribbon cable's pins with rubbing alcohol and the 32x started working!

    You are not aware (or maybe you are) how lucky you are that the Game Gear actually works. I have a few...ALL needed recapping. I learned how to do that myself....not very hard. You may bork the first one (I almost did...but didn't) and you'll be a pro by the third :) I would HIGHLY suggest opening it and just looking at those caps though. It might be working, but they also might be leaking their very destructive fluid as well. I know it has been over five years since this video...so if you haven't you really should now!

    • @AdamKoralik
      @AdamKoralik  Před 10 lety

      Depends, if you keep it exposed and out it won't last long, if you keep locked in a cabinet or something it'll last much longer. Pledge helps to keep it dust resistant, so it's easier to swipe dust off of it, so that's a nice bonus.

    Love your vids, if you hate the battery life of the Game gear you could get the battery pack and do a Lithium ion battery mod for it.
    Also are you going to the Midwest Classic Gaming Con in Milwaukee?

    • @etthelost
      @etthelost Před 10 lety

      Another good suggestion would be to replace the old back lights with before led's ones. They will astronomically extend the battery life and if you mod the battery pack to a lithium ion like you said...WOW!!!!

    Very minor suggestion, but I always find it good practice to use like an xacto knife (dull) to check (and if necessary remove) if there is any larger pieces of generic filth prior to cleaning with the credit card or whatever cause that may run the risk of smashing it down deeper and it getting stuck in there.
    My famicom had a piece of fabric in the cart slot for whatever reason and I didn't notice until way after cleaning trying to put a cartridge in. Anyway, good video.

    Hey Adam thanks for this vid! IM having this strange issue with my 32X..
    It was working fine up until a few days ago. It will boot the first initial screen of PRODUCED BY OR UNDER LICENSE FROM SEGA LTD.
    But then goes black.. Sometimes if i hit reset it will allow it to boot past that and even allow me to play a game.. Very rarely tho. This is with 32X games only.
    All genesis and megadrive games are booting up fine through the 32x.
    What could this be?
