Underground hip-hop pioneer Esham reflects on life in the 90s and the hard-edged style that made him a legend in OTB (Old Thing Back). Featuring footage from Esham's personal collection.
Anybody with a good ear 👂🏾 for Detroit Rap.... will tell you that Esham is The GodFather of Acid Rap....any other fool that says otherwise just woke up yesterday..... fact's not fiction 💪🏾💯💯💯
I wouldn't say the king because he lost his acid. He lost his man that made the acid for him. The acid is not the lyric but it's definitely the beats that drive the lyrics. Esham is not anything without those beats he is alone without those beats. People try but it ain't ever been the same. So i've made it a goal of my own on the sidelines .. To bring back that style. When I think of acid... I think it could go further it could be more vulgar. It could be more brutal, but not in a disgusting way. He knows what he's doing he just needs the right beats. Hes an artist, that's the difference. A lot of cats are copying someone or trying to impress their friends, family, and labels. Being like something that's already a benchmark for themselves. Esham always did his own. And that's why People who are looking for productions will use him as a basis. Mike Clark, James Smith and Aftermath. Indie style but never really been indie..Esham been the closest. But ain't nobody truly independent like me because ain't nobody ever helped me. lolol. Everything I do is all me every piece. Every damn thing so even isham can't say he works as hard as I do. Because he just doesn't have the credits. So if he's reading this, he needs to pick up the phone or his emails. I got money for him.
Esham is a Detroit Rap legend and also Worldwide. U cannot mention the Hip Hop of Detroit if it wasn't for the legendary Rap Gods of Detroit Michigan Esham, ICP, The R.O.C, Twiztid, Blaze ya Dead Homie, Anybody Killa, D-12, Bizarre, Smiley, Proof, The Chedda Boyz, Awesome Dre, Boss, and Big Herk, and Big Father Hi-top aka Evol, 2 Sins, C-Kane, NATAS, Jadius, Mastamind, and TNT. The history of Rap in the 313 is legendary just like Motown is legendary. Esham is the truth. Been bumpin' every Esham album from Boomin'Words from Hell til now with the new Esham album which I can't wait to preorder soon. Esham is a Rap God. Only way I could get this guys music was by special order thru Exclusive Company cuz they had like a 10k page book of artists and albums they could special order. Back than I needed an adult to purchase them cuz you had to be 18 to buy explicit lyric albums, especially 2 Live Crews, Nasty as they wanna be album lol. Ahh the good ol days, early 90s was the perfect time to be 13, wouldn't change any of it. ❤❤
