    Those early 'Gabriel era' Genesis albums were amongst the best albums ever made, in my humble opinion. I also have noticed issues with sound quality though, particularly on Trespass, Nursery Cryme, and Foxtrot, which is such a shame. The CD sound quality is cleaner and clearer, but loses the magic of analogue. It's good to hear these latest pressings are better, and probably as good as they ever could be. They are very expensive, but will probably grow in value, so may turn out to be a good investment over the longer term. However, if they sound the best, you would probably never want to sell them, so the 'investment argument' probably does not hold so much weight. It's a difficult one to weigh up 🙂

      This is my thoughts exactly. It all depends on what kind of a collector you are when it all comes down to it! I am going to buy the Genesis and the CS&N-related but I think im good after that. It's some of my all time favourite records and it's motivated (for me) to pay extreme premium. When it comes to Dr John and John Prine, well maybe not so much. Im glad I got them so I could try them out and also share my opinions but this is where it stops for me. I will show and talk about the once I wrote about above.
      Thanks //Jonas

      I@@SublimMediaagree with you. By the way, I've often wondered why analogue sounds better than digital and would be interested in your thoughts. Perhaps you could discuss this in one of your vlogs, if you felt it suitable. For me, it's not easy to describe exactly, in words, what it is about the sound of vinyl that makes it better. I think though that it has a more accurate tonal quality, which makes it sound more real, and also the timing is better, which makes it sound more coherent and less disjointed, so it is more involving to listen to. Perhaps, one day, as the technology of digital music advances, it will sound as good as vinyl. Regards, John.

    Im a bit confused. Genesis in general sounds muffled yes, but Selling England has always sounded good, so I dont know what you mean?
    That said Im not too hype on some of these as they use Classic Records old metal parts and sound quite identical to the early 2000s 33s.

    • @SublimMedia
      @SublimMedia  Před 7 měsíci

      Im disagree about the sound. I have never heard a goos sounding selling England. Yes I read somewhere that they were using the Classic parts. Is that a bad thing? Please elaborate.

      @@SublimMedia My German 70s sounds pretty good anyway. Its not a bad thing to use the Classic parts, thats why it sounds good. But for some like me who already has the Classics its not as big of a deal, its more of a reprint to us.

    Price is the biggest barrier to my getting these recordings. Given the current state of the UK economy (don't get me started on Brexit as I'll just explode with the stupidity of it) money I would of had to directly buy new albums has to be allocated elsewhere.

      Yes im with you 100%. It's not a series that you can buy all of. To much! It's pretty dark here in sweden too right now when it comes to economy. Setting up a record shop in this time is probably the most stupid thing I have done.... But so much fun! =)

      Thanka. Yes right now with a house, family and a full time job as a boss at a marketing agency I try to not do it so it becomes work. I still want it to be fun so I tread slowly. @@philbell5774

    Hey Jonas I have an OG copy of that Dr. John and I also don’t know too much about his music but I do know that album is considered a classic as the funk band the Meters play back up for the album
    Cheers!

    I'll take the original pressing not AP 's reimagining. The originals were made using the current at the time technology. Today's mixes are blended for today's tastes. Always go for the original.

      A very dogmatic approach

      I dont agree but thats ok, we can all have different opinions. I do go for the original as often as I can but with the Genesis (and a lot of other titles) I have given up. This is a gift imo. Cant wait to hear CS&N!

      Its the same mix as the original though. Its not like the Nick Davis remixes.
