I finally did the thing: recreate the SpaceX Starship! This is a FULLY STOCK vessel that has space for 10 Kerbals and still has ample cargo space, which can be deployed using a hinged nosecone system, just like (ish) the real Starship!

If you go in 0.1 physics timewarp and jump with a kerbal, you can see in the f3 menu, that the kerbal experiences 9 Gees for about .1 seconds due to going from 0m/s to 2 m/s in less than a tenth of a second

Man, watching this again after a year and a half really gives scale on the rapid progress SpaceX gives us. It feels like we've at least known about the ship going back to the catch tower forever, let alone having it all built and now almost ready for 1st orbital launch!

Hey Matt, I found a good way to recreate the starship landing legs, is by using the hinge and putting short truss structures on the bottom and below that put the grip pads beneath them

I just felt like sharing this: I got a satellite into orbit and a small space station too.
To some really advanced players, this might not seem like much, but to a player who got Kerbal Space Program yesterday, it is a big achievement.
Good job my man, KSP can be a bit rough getting into it but its cool that you did that so fast, I remember it took me weeks to get an orbit lol
Bruh i played for two years and havent yet managed to do more then one mission out of the kerbol system, and not to mention my phenomenal approximally 30 missions to mun and minmus, out of which, around 4 managed to return after landing

@Aiden McCrillis Thanks, i appreciate the support! The problem though is usually not getting an encounter, but i either: A) overestimate the amount of fuel i need, therefore not having something to land on whilst simultaniously(i butchered that) not having enough fuel in the next stages to return; or B) i under estimate the amount of fuel i need, and i think we all see the problem there.
And if a mission fales i try to save it but i lose motivation quite quickly.
My main problem when i started was my rocket wobbling lol
I was still learning basic rocket science at week 1.
The question is: how can the Blunderbirds use this gigantic spaceship
They pretty much already did it, he used a giant vtol to save 32 kerbals off duna.

Having made a Starship-esque ship in ksp (stock but dlc included) I can safely say that the flight profile required to land the booster AND get the ship into orbit is a real pain. You need a lot of fuel and need to perfectly calculate (or just test) the amount of thrust needed to get the ship into stable orbit in time to land the booster on the other side of the ocean (parallel to the ksc).
I really love it! It has charm, and it works. Keep up the good work Matt!
This is one reason why I love Sr2 instead of ksp.
You can make perfect replicas because you can customise anything and you can design your own engines and best of all you can program your rockets to land and stuff which is a real challenge
SR2 is more of a literal simulator, whereas KSP is more of a "game". Bit like how No Limits is way more customisable than Planet Coaster

The flap fin thingies can actually control all three dimensions of rotation. One side up the other side down controls roll, diagonal same vertical/horizontal different controls yaw, and then as you said top/bottom different controls pitch. Itâs a very elegant solution to atmospheric control and an incredible piece of engineering.

Dear Matt Lowne,
I noticed that you were a bit disappointed that can't guide the super heavy booster and the second stage at the same time. Well if I am not mistaken there is indeed a mod called "Booster Guidance", you have to mess with some coordinates and then boom, you have a FULLY reusable starship. (Without needing to mess with quick saves lol)

Actually, I did have an idea regarding the 'Hatch Obstructed' message when within a fairing, although I'm not 100% sure it would work. Perhaps, rather than placing it inside the fairing and clipping it out, if you were to place it outside the fairing (attached to the fairing base or an exposed fuel tank or whatever) and clipped it into the fairing? Assuming you allocate a space for it, it isn't _exactly_ abusing the offset tool...

Nice Matt, Looks funky in a good way. When will you build a crew station with live commentary? Maybe a space station that uses a single rocket type to refuel, the station has a built in rover and stuff. A lander. Escape pods. It can be a new sires, maybe end it with an emergency, get a blunderbird mission.

For a real landing of a reusable first stage, I choose a special takeoff profile. As a result, at the moment of separation of the first stage, the apoapsis is located high enough to have time to complete the additional acceleration of the second stage to orbital speed after the landing of the first stage. In addition, I automate the exit to such a takeoff profile, the separation of stages and the landing of the first stage of the rocket in a suitable area due to the SmartParts mod.

Awesome starship replica! You should go with a inline shuttle cargo bay instead of using the nose cone. That would be useful for sending habitats to other planets.

I love that while StarShip is already designed as a "jack-of-all-trades," Matt takes it to the next level and eliminates the separate Starship designs in favour of one vehicle that can deploy cargo, carry passengers, and refuel other vehicles XD
The landing legs for the starship are metal sticks that flip over and help the rocket land
Now that you figured out that hinge you can do the energia 2 or Buran 2 which ever you want to call it
We should have an option to turn of the ferring deploy in staging. I know you can just, not press the button but it would be nice to not have to worry about it
Earliest ive been to a matt lowne video, 3 minutes!
What I do is I get an apogee of about 100km, perform separation, then pitch below the horizon to achieve a lower orbit, and by that point, the booster is usually at apogee

Even though you probably wonât see this, thought I might as well suggest, would it be easier when making crafts such as this to: make a quick save, land the booster, reload quick save, then fly to orbit. That way you wouldnât need to waste your own time making another save and waiting for it to reload

Epic cargo starship! Maybe you should try someday to make a compleate crew starship with a smaller cargo payload, but also have a elevator that can put the kerbals on the surface of any planet?
