The reason we got promoted is because of the legendary Dave Challinor. Great manager, the reason he's legendary is because Stockport haven't been in the football league for about 11 years. If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have been promoted.

The most important thing of course is that now the famous quiz question ‘Which football league team’s stadium lies closest to the River Mersey ?’ can now be re-introduced.
The confluence of the rivers Goyt and Tame occurs in Stockport, and the River Mersey is born at that point; Edgeley Park lies just to the south of what is the traditional border between Cheshire and Lancashire which then runs due west to the sea in the Mersey estuary.
PS. The County bit refers to Stockport being an historic county borough of Cheshire (ignore the great vivisection of 1974, most people from Stockport do).
May change when Everton open their new stadium...

Fantastic season from County, a great day in our history and so glad to be back.

We were in a League Cup semi final.
We were almost in a (what would be now) Championship playoff for the Premier League...
was thinking the same, it’s the biggest game in recent history but our entire history is a stretch

How can this be the most important match in history of Stockport County? what about decisive matches they played in past clinching promotion to old Division 1 in 90s or League cup semi final? or when they were champions of other league systems? Honestly the best game of football I’ve watched. The atmosphere was amazing the supporters really are the 12th player. Hope you’re going to continue these video next season. We love watching these on repeat between games.
