  • Kaleb hits the Coromandel coast for the maiden flight of the new AEE A22 Condor Drone. If you already have one or you’re thinking of getting one, be sure to watch this video.
The new mechanical release takes the AEE Condor to the next level. Watch how easy drone fishing can be with the new Condor A22 . Discover the difference between this and the A20 1000m metre model which uses a tension only release.
Also shown in this video is the new AEE Condor backpack designed to carry all your fishing needs from the all important drone and batteries to the trace rack, rod and reel, hook sections and baits.
There are no differences in the range, motors, battery etc. to the Condor A20, the only difference is the release clip.. The push button release is ideal when fishing in winds towards the limit of the drone, where obtaining a release with tension is difficult due to a crosswind etc., just press the button and it will drop.
Kaleb is using Target Snapper hooks which minimise your catch of undersize fish. We run a short, stiff release wire from the Newton 3 drone release clip to our sinkers, with the hook section joined one end to the release wire, and the other end straight to the end of your mainline. This minimises any chance of the Pendulum effect suffered by many other fishing rigs.
The safest drone fishing technique is having a tension release, such as the Newton 3 release clip, as this allows the hooks to be released instantly from the drone if any tangles stop your line. This results in the hooks being deployed early, rather than the drone being catapulted into the water. This new clip still has tension release, meaning it has the ease of a push button release with the safety of a tension release. Even waterproof drones don't like crashing in to salt water.
Our fishing adventures take us throughout #Aotearoa fishing so keep an eye on our channel for more land based fishing videos using kites, electric kontiki torpedos, and drones including the Splashdrone 4 , Swellpro FD1 , and Rippton Mobula quadcopter fishing drones.
The Condor Drone Fishing setup is one of the easiest fishing rigs to use, and is the ideal drone fishing setup for anyone, from beginners who have never flown a drone, through to those who have experience but want a safer system to use.

If you were to recommend a drone to your mate, which of the 2 would you recommend? the FD1 or the AEE A22? And why?

Hard decision, they are both great drones. The FD1 has a bigger lift, further distance, and is water resistant, whereas the Condor is quite a bit cheaper, does everything we need for fishing, and all replacement parts are cheaper. The main factor is the budget

How much will the upgrade cost for my a20 condor to get the new release mechanism? Cheers

Howdy Kaleb....Question to you, in regards to Drone Fishing will a 65 or 70 Alvey Reel work with a Drone or do you think a big Spin Reel is a better option ? I buy at your shop and looking at a Drone more likely the Swell Pro 4 and I do own a couple of 65 Alveys just keen on your ideas to see if they be good to go, b4 I spend on a big spin reel......hopefully you see this Q, be good to hear you opinion.....

Yeah bro for sure that's there surf champion so 650m 20lb mono should translate to around 500 of 60lb braid? The 70 even more.. so I don't see why not. Only thing with spin reel is more line capacity. But alveys are a great way to go.

That fella must think it’s a photo shoot, we see more of him than the drone or fish.
