The best video about the starter I've watched so far
Agreed
I came here after my starter solenoid gave in and I was blown away by how straight forward and so informative at the same time. Awesome stuff, definetly subscribing 🤙🏽
Thank you 🙏🏽
Try saying that while you own a Toyota 2UZ- FE 4.7L V-8 And hope and pray that they've incorporated the starter inside the transmission bell housing area....because it's nowhere to be found!
Can't hit the starter with a 🔨 to get myself out of a jam...med starter anymore...
well a drift and hammer between the tunnel rams should allow access...
I've always wondered why the exhaust sounds beautiful on this type engine: it's because the starter doesn't take away from the header's design flow efficiency! Pure purr fect exhaust note 🎶 .
Brilliant! I am studying automobile electronics and we are reading about starter motors. I absolutely was not grasping it until I looked at this video. Now that I have seen how everything moves and interacts I completely understand how a starter motor works. Thanks for posting.
All the best
Best explanation of a starter on CZcams
Excellent explanation!…
Thanks
This is an awesome video, very simple explanation, it definitely deserves more views.
Very well explained, thanks!
Nice, simple, and visually clear
This is an excellent video!!!
Fantastic animation video, thank u.
Really good video, thank you.
Thanks, buddy. You did a great job🤝.
Excellent visual and narrative explanation.
Nicely explained. Great video!
Thanx for this!!!!!!
fantastic animation sir!
Your videos are the best, visually and audibly. Can you please break it all down as to how a car works? Coils, fly wheel, anti roll bar links, how do you know when spark/glow plugs have had it, all about break fluids and why we need it, explain how both a manual and auuomatic car drives....that would be fab! 👍
Hey thanks for the comments, more content will be coming 👍🏼
So amazing video
Very good video ✌️
What a beautiful video! What Kind of software did you use to show the motor in 3D and to make it moving?
Thanks alot
Thank you
Good video
nice.
Thanks
CZcams best
Before coming to this video, I watched few videos abouts starter motor but I can't understand much, after watching your video my more doubts about starter motor are cleared,
Centrifugal clutch to reach out and grab main gear, it runs for short times at 10x duty cycle, otherwise it would be wasted.
how does the clutch system work
4:53 called planets and sun gear
Sir why there is no such setup(solenoid) is not present in two wheeler self motor
If my car is have random slow starts, what does that mean? Is the starter going bad?
Thats what it was for me. Eventually it just went out completely and I was stranded. If you got it, get it taken care of fa sho.
Same for me
Good jobs , i am mechanic from Ethiopia how to increased more subscribe
im only getting clicking noise from the starter, car is unable to start, what actually happens can you explain, is it faulty starter or a weak battery
Your battery is weak to send power to the starter
@@JOKER_-18 yep it was a weak battery problem, thanks for the reply
is that starter motor considered "direct Drive"?
Hi, no, these starter motors have a planetary gear set to increase torque which means a smaller motor can be fitted which also requires less current.
we should all still have the option too crank start it like in the 1920s if we cant afford to fix the electric starter.
You do. It's a hill start!
Its good but the voice is very low
volume is too soft
So when you shut off your car, what does it shut off?
I believe fuel pump and injectors as well as other electrical components shut off...
So if you suspect that your flywheel has some chipped teeth then there's no guarantee that your car will start successfully every time
The voice is too low
Hi
Iv got a Fiat 128 Rally 1974
My starter keep on cranking and not start at all, i had to pul battery wire to stop it.
After days of strangle i find that the points plastic on it melt little and touching the earth.
After fixed the points starter stop keep on cranking. And car starts 100%
Thing that confuse me totaly.
How can points that touch earth like my car did. Let the starter keep on cranking. How is that possible???
My coil got 3 wires on.
1. Ignition wire to +
2. Wire to points on -
3. Wire also on - (this wire i got no idee where it goes)
Realy realy hope you can give me the answer on this. 😁😁😁
Hi, cool car and a real classic, this is an old system with points and condenser, the coil will have 3 wires as you say, the 3rd one should be the larger cable which goes to the distributor. Only thing I can think of is there must have been a short from the ignition between the wire that goes from the ignition to the coil with the start motor ignition feed. That would keep the starter motor turning . Glad you fixed it
I bypast ignition switch. Connect a wire straight from battery + to starter. And starter still keep on cranking. So it was not the ignition switch well. 😁
With the thick wire in senter of coil there is then 4 wires.
On the - (negative) side is 2 wires. 1 go to the points other 1 confuse me totaly.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY.
From South Africa 😁🇿🇦👍
The points must read zero on miltemeter when you test it to earth when points is open. I had a reading on earth. So i take points out and check it. Plastic on it were broken so it earth. After fix it. Start 100%.
I keep on thinking that extra thin wire on negative trigger something on starter if points earth parmently.
@@g.j.dutoit4447 oh on the - negative side it sometimes has two wires, one will go to the condenser and the other to the points (circuit breaker)
The condenser absorbs the energy and prevents arcing between the points each time they open.

Hi
No the condencor is connected to the wire that go to the points just like on the image. Condencer is skrewed on the casing of distributor.
The extra wire on the negative on coil go down with the ignition wire.
So there is 2 wires on negative of coil. One go to points and condenser other one go down with ignition wire. Not to condenser or distributor.
I mean its comfusing. Just after i fix points that got short to earth permantly. Starter stop keep cranking and got spark (there was no spark) and car start 100%
I keep on thinking that the extra wire on coil negative side got something to do with starter keep cranking.
That extra wire make my mind spin. 🤔🤔🤔😃
The whistling sound occurs every time the machine started and start button released. What is wrong?
If it only happens for a couple of seconds when starting it’s probably the starter motor, can be quite common for them to make a noise when starting. You could try stripping it down a greasing it but would be easier to just replace it
@@GarageTechAutomotive it's happening immediately right after releasing the start button. I guess it's the sound of pinion gear being released from flywheel. But is it doing any harm on my starter motor?
@@sukseskaret3274 I’d recommend looking into getting it replaced, just for peace of mind, plus I bet it’s really annoying. it could be ok for some time, depends on how long it’s been happening for, what conditions it’s used in etc. Worse case scenario it could seize up and stop working.
Enlarge starter motor. Connect to a wheel. Throw away gas engine. Add big battery.
Ok
