Sundowns thought they were about to take an early lead when Deon Hotto fouled Khuliso Mudau inside the box but Sipho Chaine saved the resultant penalty by Lucas Ribeiro Costa.
But Ribeiro then atoned for that miss when he set up Themba Zwane who slotted home to give the Brazilians the lead on 54 minutes.
It then became Pirates' chance to earn a penalty after Aubrey Modiba had Patrick Maswanganyi to the ground and the latter cooly beat Sundowns goalkeeper from the spot in the 71st minute.
After surprisingly starting from the bench Relebohile Mofokeng came on and grabbed the Buccaneers' winner right at the death
Despite playing coming on with 19 minutes to go, Mofokeng stole the show when he scored the decider and made a huge difference in this contest.
He now goes to his maiden Bafana Bafana camp high in confidence after being the star of the show on Saturday.

@@Chriskupanga Hmm! Well I guess it doesn't make that much of a difference. I like him! He's fast and agile, can take on his man and turn quickly. It's a shame he's a bit old I wanted my team Raja Casablanca to potentially get him.
