  • Hey guys,
I picked up this pilot 80cc Yak 54 powered by a ZDZ 80 single cylinder. Although this airplane is new to me it is far from a new airframe. I picked this airplane up in the winter and completely overhauled it so it would not give me any headaches this year! I finally had a chance to get it up in the air and have some fun! As you will see the first flight was far from my best, and the airplane was out of trim and I actually put it further out of trim while I was trying to get it flying straight! Unfortunately I did not notice I had trim steps turned way up in my radio so every click I would give it to trim out was actually giving it 20 clicks, which made for some interesting flying. When I finally did get the airplane trimmed out there is not much I can say other than it flys like a Yak! In my opinion this is one airplane everyone should have a chance to fly!
I'm very excited to get some more stick time on this plane throughout the summer and get it dialed in even more. This will make a great practice bird for my 3D flying!
I hope you guys enjoyed the flights and thanks for watching. Stay tuned to see what this bird can do in the future
    Cheers, Backyard RC

The Yak 54 is one of my favourites. I got an electric with a power 25 motor😁

    I had that scheme in the 150cc and I still have my 97” with a B&E 83cc.
    Great flying yaks. Good characteristics.
If you need a starter for a gas engine, you need a different gas engine.

What radio gives you 20 movements for one click of trim? I've never heard of that.
