I once had a very useful bunker lesson from a coach who told me to lower my hands when hitting out the bunker, but never mentioned why or that the amount I lowered my hands manipulated the lie angle and thus the face direction. Now we all know that thanks to this great explanation by Bryson, we can use that information to hit bunker shots shorter, further, higher, lower, left and right, just hopefully not all those variables at the same time! Even though it’s winter and i’m not sure when the next time i’ll be in a bunker will be, i’ll be sure to remember this and i’m fairly certain my bunker shots gained went up a few percent just from watching this

I hope people understand just how valuable this lessen is. Anybody who goes to their next bunker practice with this video in mind, and, works on the positions shown, will undoubtedly advance greatly in there bunker play. I got great practice results from this video and I am a good bunker player. This video also has given me other clues to shots like, ball below my feet and ball above my feet.... Martin, Bryson, Thank you for your generosity in making this video for the world to see!!!

Holy Sh*t! Bryson is so right about open face & lowering hands to change lie or face direction. I've always just trusted face open & aimed more open but this is 💡 advice. Thx BD!

Changing the lie angle is cool. I messed around doing that, but gave it up as I thought I was just trying to reinvent the wheel.
I didn’t think about it compensating for aim when opening the club, I thought it was just making it easier to cut through the sand when aggressively going in hosel first! 😅

You know, I’ve seen Martin now on a bunch of collab channels over the past year. He is the perfect example of never judge a book by its cover. He looks like a bruiser, a guy I’d be battling in the corner for the puck. And I bet he could do that and do that well. But he’s seems like such a sweetheart of guy. Great personality, rolls with the jokes and just seems like a bright light in the world. Those people are rare. Again, don’t know him but it really comes through when you watch him. Great work man, gonna check your channel out!

To bring your aim back to the target instead of having a crazy open stance.
@@mackcity got that, but having face less open and lie more upright would give you the same loft….
@@jfvezina3458 oh yeah, I think the ultimate goal was getting ideal bounce.
Having hands forward was delofting even further, so say all this brings the club back to its natural loft, it doesn’t mean that you’d get the same results by walking in and taking a normal swing at it.
