I'm actually a huge fan of Tim Sale and his designs. It kinda reminds me of Tim Burtons Batman universe. I recently heard he was a big influence on Greg Capulo who's another one of my favourite batman artists.
Two legends for sure, but for me, I just don't love his Batman design

@@casual_bill8749 Court of Owls and Endgame (Joker's big comeback after losing his face and Jim Gordon and his mech Batman have to get Bruce back into the Batman role) are easily two of the best modern Batman stories we've been given.

Man I miss dc collectibles/dc direct figures , the sculpts and the paint work made each figure unique I have a lot of the Arkham figures they did years back .
They were truly works of art - we will see more soon!

About 5 years ago I bought my first action figure off of e Bay. It was a Batman of Zur en Aar with Batmite. I also got a chrome New 52 Batman and an Ed McGuiness Batwoman in that order.
Since then I've nosedived straight down the proverbial rabbit hole. Marvel Legends sucked me in, but Mattel DC Multiverse disappointed me and I began looking for better looking versions of the characters I wanted on my shelf.
While I enjoy several different styles and brands of action figures, DC Direct is hands down my favorite. This video, which I interpreted as a love letter to the line, was exciting and satisfying to me at the same time. I really couldn't help myself with the commenting. I hope my insights were at least helpful to some.
I'm proud to say I was at about 75% on ownership of what was shown. I'm subscribing as soon as I'm done running my mouth again. I hope to find more videos like this.

Love this. I will always take unique sculpt and paint over articulation so I'm a big fan of DC Direct.

It was such a big thing - I think a bunch of us voted “die” just to see if they would do it…

BTW, as much as I like Tim Sale's art in 2D, I'd pick grotesque Penguin over comicbook-y Penguin.

I like the variety of characters, both well-known and unsung fan-favorites, there are in this collection!
The Mr. Freeze is a great combo of realism and Mike Mignola's art (originated for the Batman Animated Series version).
In regards to that Batman with the crazy-looking cape, that head-sculpt seems like a very Alex Ross-ian design.
You may or may not know these details on the characters, but for the uninitiated, the modern version of Huntress is Helena Bertinelli, the daughter of a Mafia boss. Her immediate family was killed as a result of a twisted-"Romeo & Juliet"-type romance gone wrong when her mother had an affair with the son and heir of a rival gangster. The son put a hit out on the family, but asked for his lover to be spared; however in a twist that can only come from literary fiction, the assassin mixes Helena up with her mother and kills the mother instead, leaving Helena alive to enact vengeance against all mobsters. While sanctioned by the Dark Knight, unlike Batman she uses lethal methods (similar to Azrael) to subdue her targets, usually with wrist-mounted crossbow ammo or other projectiles.
As for Batwoman, other than the orientation to which you alluded, the only other things I know about her are that she's Bruce Wayne's (distant or otherwise?) cousin and she has a background in military training.

Mezco one: 12 is really hard to top in the 6 inch scale the detail and accessories are unmatched they put their heart into every figure they make

I don’t feel that way! I actually think we have more options now - more scales, import figures - that give us tremendous variety! DC Direct was able to do some very specific things because of the built in market niche it had with comic shops, but c’mon - we just got a perfect Crystar figure!

You should do Batman villains mystery box (same way you did with Spider Man) and do a Joker mystery box (same way you did with Green Goblin).
The second Joker figure or the one with a crowbar was based on Andy Kubert’s Joker from the Batman and Son storyline. This is also my first Joker action figure.

After Spidey, Batman is my second favorite superhero. Suck polar opposites in terms of characters, but their rouges gallery are neck and neck amongst the very best in comics. Fantastic collection and a terrific video. I highly enjoyed this one.

27:59 DC Direct Superman Batman wave 6. My favorite Batman (Well black and gray batlogo) perfect heads-up. I had to buy another so I used this cape for Neca 89 Batman. Love the leather looking cape so perfect for 89 Keaton Batman costume cloth was weird

The orange and light blue two face had a cool accessorie a flipping coin placed on his thumb. Had the figure but lose that accessorie 18:00

I dont read comics as I find them hard to find, however i watched the movies of dark knight returns, they were 2 of the greatest movies i ever saw, peter weller brought him to life. Just the way he talked was like this is batman. I got the recent ish 4 pack of him joker superman robin and joker years ago snd need to put that on the desk as a tribute for the single greatest batman story created

Great video as always! Question for ya this time. What is your favorite bat suit? I'm a big fan of the 1989 solid black or the more modern version of the blue and grey with a solid black bat on the front
I think we always tend to fall back on the suit we grow up with - so for me, my two favorite bat looks are the classic 70's 80's grey and blue - the Neil Adams look, or the Frank Miller look from Dark Knight
For figure-hunting purposes (probably will have to check eBay or Amazon or something since it's likely to be long out of production), can anyone tell me which line the Batman figure @ 29:20 came from? I cannot find an accurate title for it to search for it online.

Mid to late 40s dark knight returns Serious. Mid 60s to late 60s. Maybe early 60s. Right now for comic I think with 5 Robin's he has to be 45 in comics and he's still in his prime.
He was 55 in that book.

This my first mystery box video. The main reason I clicked on this video is I see a Batman in the thumbnail I don't have.
That looks like the Hugo Strange Batman with the alternate Batman head, but I'm not sure. The cowl ears look a little different. It could be the Son of Batman series Batman, but I'm not sure.

21:27 is Flashpoint Reverse Flash. And about 30 seconds before my heart was broken along with Huntress arm. That's my favorite version of her. Watching you manipulate these has been making me cringe lol
I'm sorry if it's obnoxious for me to keep identifying these....in minute 24, that is the Secret Files Poison Ivy, which is my favorite version of her in action figure form.
Also in minute 24, you were correct on that being the Hush/Jim Lee Joker. I did not recognize the previous Joker shown.
I nearly forgot about the Long Halloween Catwoman. There are many versions of Ms. Kyle, but that is my favorite. Knight fall being a close second.

DC Direct was the best action figure line despite articulation. Mattel was so bad!
From a sculpting standpoint - I think it can compete with any line. Perhaps not as "over sculpted" as some McFarlane lines, but that is really the beauty of it, right?
DC Direct had much better sculpting for sure, but at least Mattel's were actual, solid *action* figures, not pre-posed statues with, like, 5 p.o.a.
If you even *breathe* wrong on DC Direct figs, they bust, but Mattel knew how to build a robust fig.

Both Poison Ivy versions are amazing in their own way. I don't think I could choose one over the other. Regarding the Killing Joke, I only saw the animated movie adaptation. The laugh at the end didn't work for me at all. Batman apparently forgot what was done to Barbara Gordon, but that's a discussion for another time. Loved the video, by the way!
