Love that you don't have fancy shop gives me hope that I can build my runner in my tiny garage looks like its about the same size as yours lol
I did mine in my old driveway covered in snow 🤣
If there's a will theres a way, big fan of this guy's channel for this reason 🤙
I dont have a garage at my rental town home, so I have to work outside on a gravel road and plan all my project between March and October here in rainy Oregon lol
It would be fucking nice if you could do a step by step SAS video on those 1986 + toyota pickup in the future !! 🤟
What solid axle did you use like what truck did it come from and what gearing did you use ??
Thank you for answering my paid question on yesterday's pod cast about my 05 4.0 4runner. I was asking about front dif lockers not rears. I already have a 4.7 and a rear axle being compactly rebuilt. I just can't find info on a front dif locker.
Oh! If that is the case I would look into the ARB front lockers. I know a few people with later model Toyotas with these up front and they work fantastic!
New sub, this chanel gives me mad Trailer Park boys vibes. Great content!
Awesome! Thank you!
Also that is my favorite show 😂
Hey Master SAS, nice job on REUSING the suspension for the umpteenth time.
New doesn’t always mean better,
But it does always mean more money.
Mike is actually waiting for his 63 kit to come in, so this is also only a temporary step for him.
Where'd you find that long sleeve? haha
Excellent! One of the best videos in CZcams about SAS swap. A lot of work though
Thanks!
lol wut?
@@rwhite36 What?
Nice sas, one day I will do it to mine
Awesome!
I have this same pickup, would love to do a SAS.
Are you planning on trussing the axle later? Or not doing it at all?
Funny it was trussed, but it was tacked on slightly off. So it was getting in the way of the u-bolts. It is going to get put back on through!
Do you have a video on the tube drive shafts you build? Working on doing a SAS on my 86 4runner and the forward drive shaft is the last thing to get ready before starting.
Awsome content as usual! Just curious, what size lift are the front springs?
3" Springs, with bottom 2 leafs removed.
Hey, great content. I have the same 3" kit and I'm about to do the swap. Just wondering why you had to remove the bottom two leafs? And did you get the HD kit because of the v6? Thanks.
@@Shiploadofshipes Nope, normal springs. My personal truck has 3" springs with bottom 2 leafs removed, and same with Cory with his 3" springs. All V6, all not HD springs, and all bottom leafs removed. Reason being is lowering the trucks a bit, and more articulation.
Thanks. Low CG is what I'm going for so this is great information.
So I just got my permit and I’m currently car is a Mazda 3 but I might have to pick up a Tacoma.
Love the videos dude 🙂
Good choice! And thank you!
As far as front hanger placement goes, basically you wanna mock it up so you achieve a certain angle for your rear shackles? What angle do you guys look for? I have a sky’s offroad stretch front hanger and not 100% sure how far forward the hanger should be. I’m putting it on a t100. Any help is appreciated! Mint job boys!
it depends in the length of the leaf springs you plan on using!
We put this one flush with the front, its also flush on my truck. Using the TG 3" leafs with 2 leafs removed it makes the shackle angle where we want it.
How’s shackles angle with you guys welding front hangers and rear tube prior to cutting ifs
It's perfect. With the leafs removed from the pack it sags a bit more right from the get go. Plus we are just placing hangers where the instructions say to. And the kit was designed for the TG leafs.
you guys didn't move the steering box at all? ive been slowly working away at my solid axle swap, but I've sort of lost motivation to finish it lol... this vid has given me a little boost so maybe ill go and do some work on it today or the weekend :)
Totally not necessary. I'm the only one in my crew who moved the box, and that is only because my leaf spring hangers are cut into the frame, and running 4" shackles, causing my steering to bind.
@@DirtGarage ok nice. Yeah ive moved my steering box forward a bit and flattened out the angle they put them on. I also have a flat pitman arm so it doesn't drop it too low. I have done the same and recessed the spring hanger in to the frame to lower it a little bit and moved it forward a little to give more tire clearance in the fenders...
@@mikejensen-fogt4662 Nice! I am also running a flat pitman arm! I like the look of the hanger being recessed, makes it appear factory.
Can’t wait to do that myself
Have you ever thought about doing a linked coil sprung solid axle project. I know the cost would be more but would be interested to get your opinion on pros and cons.
Ive been considering doing this to my rig...
Awesome channel. Do you have any experience with 22RE EGR deletes? I’ve got multiple vacuum leaks on my 89 pickup, and am trying to decide on replacing my vacuum lines, or just scrapping the EGR.
22re here too. Scrap it and delete that whole system
@@nicholas5623 Thats what I ultimately did. Tried to fix it at first, but ultimately had to scrap the whole thing. I'm guessing it affects my MPG but I'm not for sure. I only get about 14MPG going 75 on highway.
@@HighwaymanZ2 thats not bad tbh, at that speed ur 22re is screaming lol
Such good info we're going to do our brother's car now
I should say Hilux ln107 has a 2.8 diesel engine non aspirated factory but aftermarket turbo
#phils_toyotas
Yes on a 93 f250
Can I use my gears from my independent front end in my new straight axle, 93 4 runner?
Nope. Independent is 7.5", solid axle is 8". You can find another truck with same ratio and use the rear up front.
Where did you get leaf springs
Hey man im doing this same swap but i axle sit really far forward in the fender well is this normal my shackle angle is alittle back from center
The SAS should push your axle forward. This is for better approach angles.
Can you do mine next? Please!
Good job man 😎
Sassy! looking good! Man you should tear that center wall out of your shop, there would be so much more room to work around vehicles!
That's the plan! Waiting for price of lumber to drop though, I have to re-enforce some of the trusses. I'm pretty sure that wall is structural at this moment.
im a month in to the off the 4x4 seen an went with a xj i wanted a gen1 or 2 4runner but didnt want to have to sas it so im just wondering y all the swaps i c are with leafs an not coil springs?
Love your channel. One question where in the hell do you keep finding front toyota solid axels? I can't find one to save my life.
We snag the cheap rotten out 1st gens that get posted for super cheap on Facebook Marketplace usually.
What number of differential do you use for a 3.0 motor in the solid axle swap?
Would that kit work with full size chevy 1/2 axles
what leaf springs are those?
Trail Gear 3"
Do u have any issues with handling.? And did u use back ur old driveshaft
Nope, and yes old rear driveshaft works fine.
I was asking about the front 4wd driveshaft! Did u use back the original? Or u made one?
@user-oq6yl4nj6z You can't use original. It is not long enough, and it doesn't have enough articulation.
Nice job!
I have curiosity, what year is the solid axle you swap?
Am concerned because as i notice on my v6 year 89 i noticed that it's wider than my 22R year 82.
So if the toyota year 82 solid axle is not the same wide as the 89 what yo did to have the same width?
82, and yes the axle is narrower stock, most guys use spacers on front to make up for that. I also have a guide to use your stock IFS hubs and bolting them up to the solid axles to make them wider to match the rear. czcams.com/video/BqVK27IV14g/video.html&t
Anyone done a SAS with the TG 3'' HD leafs that you know? Will be swapping to 5vz-fe.
Yes, and nobody likes them and removes a bunch of leafs to make it ride better. My truck is supercharged 5VZ, with bush bumper and winch. AND I removed leafs, it rides great!
What vehicle the axle come from ?
I SAS'd my 87 pickup with the TG 3" kit and I already had the old man emu rear springs in AND I added 4" blocks to level up the rear.
What did you replace your 4" blocks with?
You said you took those ones out of your truck?
I'm assuming you did the Chevy 63"?
Did that level you out completely or did you need to add blocks to that too?
Was it worth it?
Originally I was running stocks with those 4" blocks, later I went to OME and 2" blocks, now I run 63s with no blocks. We remove leafs from the TG 3" to keep it lower.
Any disadvantage to running it the way I have mine set up?
I'm swapping in an om617 right now and I kind of want to keep all the leafs up front in the TG 3" kit to prevent sagging later on.
The only thing that worries me about the 4" blocks in the rear is axle wrap, what you think?
@@matthewevers6716 4" blocks give terrible axle wrap. But totally up to you. I would not keep the 4" blocks if your planning on putting more power in the rig.
@@DirtGarage how many leafs do you take out of each spring pack?
What leaf springs did you use for the front ?
3" TG with bottom 2 leafs removed.
Do you know if the 2GR Fe will fit in the place of a 22RE engine?🇨🇱👀🇨🇱🇨🇱
I mean anything will fit with enough motivation! I'm gonna 4.7 swap mine soon.
Sell me the front axle housing that you have on your wall for my project 🤲🏼
What years the truck? Which axle did you use?
Truck is a 1990, and axle is from a 1980 Toyota Pickup.
I love the part where you skip everything
I mean I showed bits. And this isn't a how to video. But thanks!
Have to get all that certified in New Zealand it ain't cheap $$$$
Any chance you know someone willing to sell 90style Toyota pickup sr5 mirrors?
All SR5s I've seen use the regular mirrors? Are you talking about 4Runner mirrors?
ordered a shirt from your store and haven't received it. tried to contact you multiple times without a response. how do i resolve this?
Where did you try and contact? Sorry my DMs are busy, so I might have missed it!
@@DirtGarage tried your email (clintp@live.ca) and tried contact page on your site. no response to either. you could always go check your store orders too and take care of the ones that you haven't shipped yet right? just trying to support your channel and grab a tshirt buds. hook me up.
Hey man what song is that at 1:42? Thanks!!!

@@DirtGarage thanks my man! Keep up the sick vids!!!
GW Deer))
Why didnt he use his ifs hubs?
That is coming, kept the hubs from the IFS.
@@DirtGarage im gunna do that conversion myself
Looks fuckin perfect! I’ll drive to freakin Canada! 03 4 cylinder Taco next! I’ll give you my soul! I’ll even say Canada is a great place! I actually love maple syrup, I really would kill for a SAS ! Need anyone gone? lol I’m a New Yorker, I can take care of things like that? Just kidding but I would literally be like the only SAS Toyota on the Island, bunch of mall crawlers here, I plan on wheeling the fuck outta this thing! Great video, can’t wait to see it completed
Nice, but the background music drowns out the info. Just my $0.02.
bc toy!!! planning to do mine this year!!
Those front toyota axles are junk
They're just fine.
Bro I'm sick to death of this stomp clap music that makes any video unwatchable. I'm begging all you CZcams truck guys to stop it. It's in every video. Not just yours either it's like a virus that's all over CZcams and I'm just gonna turn into a freak over it
Please find new music...
Sorry but the video is pretty to useless to who wants know the details and blocks in the rear??? No Thanks
If your looking for details I would suggest looking up a video for "How To Solid Axle Swap" 👍
As for the blocks you'd be happy to hear they where only temporary, and have since been switched out for Chevy 63s.
