Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another first time reaction thanks to PATREON with LIME and their song "Babe We're Gonna Love Tonight." LIME considered to be a Hi NRG band with disco elements. Lime consisting of married couple Denis and Denyse LePage bring this song to the dance floor. It's catchy, but weird to me. See my full react now!

It's 1988, I'm 21 and hiting the club to dance to this masterpiece!!
Love Love Love this song. I'm a 60 year old guy but back in the day I used to be able to hit the high notes just like her! I must have heard this song 50-100 times through the years.
Totally agree with you. This song NEVER gets old. Just we do...LOL
I'm 42 and when I was younger and my vocal range was more intact I used to sing both parts and would hop up and down. It's quite fatiguing, you know.
Yeah my uncle listens to this all the time! That man is stuck in the past, he likes that type of music
@@DJQTUBE When I was in better health I used to play my homemade disco CDs in the car when I took my Sunday drives and sing at the top of my lungs to my collected songs. Would play the same favorite 150 songs over and over and never get tired of them.
@@DJQTUBE Sure enough, I live in Spain and this song was filling dance floors, people were running to dance to it.
@@rtususian Yes, that sounds about right to me. I can 100% relate! 😁
Love this song so much! I was born 1981 but didn’t hear this song till I was in my 20s! 80s music definitely the BEST!
OMG YES! I love this one! Canadian hi-NRG classic! Cheesy? Oh, ab-so-lutely, but also incredibly catchy! (all hi-NRG and Italo-Disco was super cheesy, but catchy af!) I just started watching Hacks on HBO Max (Yes, I know, I'm super late!), and I got a surprise when this song was played, in one of the scenes.
I don't get all the hate, this song was a hit and it's great! .
Don't you agree that Dereck will really enjoy hi-NRG and Italo-Disco if he gives it a chance? What a catalog of songs he will have to explore!
I think I have heard this one at least 1,000 times.
Dereck,
Let me tell you, I was there at the clubs when this 12 inch single hit. When you first hear it you think its just too much...BUT it gets in your blood , its infectious. It was definitely in the top 20 of disco/ club play records of 82.
Dancefloor classic 🔥🔥🔥
This song would fill the dance-floor instantly, back in the day! I also remember the video being bad, but I didn't remember it being this awful!! I bet they spent no more than $5, Canadian dollars, on this video. 😂
Every time.
Lo mejor del high energy 100%Adrenalina☆☆☆☆
Your love is lime's best song
Me being only a year old when this came out, I was not exposed to Lime as a kid (I'm pretty sure they only crossed over in America in dance clubs). But in the '90s our favorite radio station that blended new dance hits with retro ones (oh wait you're a New Yorker, you know KTU!), and KTU always played the Lime song Angel Eyes. I too could not believe how high her voice was - she sounded like Minnie Mouse and I still loved the song.
I never heard THIS song until my mid-late-20s when a really cute guy who was also into retro disco, funk and hi-NRG, played it for me one very sweet night circa 2007-2008. His energy when it came on was so cute and infectious, I always think of him fondly when I hear it (he was younger than me, but passed away a few years after we met).
103.5....K-T-U. :)
Their song Your Love was a big dance and club hit
Lime are one of my favourite groups ... my favourites of theirs's are Unexpected Lovers, Your Love & Guilty ... there was a rumour that Denis Lepage performed both the male vocals and the 'female' falsetto vocals
It was a big dance song in 1982. Just dance to it!
Oh boy and I danced to this song starting at least since 1985 and this also resurfaced in the early 90’s when I was 19-20 in certain clubs in Miami fl. ❤ so much fun
Ok so I’m old. I think I was in 6th grade when this came out. The funny thing(to me about it) is that I had never heard this played on any of the “white”music stations I listened to, just the black ones. After you said this was listed as high energy disco it makes sense.
I was 21 when this song came out..The clubs were banging this jam. Great club jam. The Bass was sick, I can't hear it much on my TV, but on my Spotify playlist, it still sounds like it did in the Club scene.
I'm a Montrealer and have known this song all my life but only found out not long ago that they were a Montreal group. I don't have any memories of them performing on local tv shows back then but maybe it's cause I was too young to notice. I had no idea what the singer looked like but always thought he was black. He just has that voice. My favorite Lime song, Your Love, is on my playlist.
@Dominic Brunet For real? How did you know?
How did I miss this, your love is my favorite by them. Their greatest hits is amazing.
If you went to a house party in the 80's chances are you will hear some Lime...especially the songs your love and angel eyes
In Boston a DJ named Vinnie Perruzi used to host a friday night dance show on a big local radio station - focusing on disco.
This was always the song he listed as the best single Disco song. And he is right
I can't get enough of this song
LIME, Unexpected Lovers is a SMASH hit and needs a listen too. Packed my floors every time i played it.
You should react to Lime You're my magician
She sings solo in that one
Ohhh yeahhhh LIME is awesome!
Long version a huge sucess in France not only on clubs but on pop radios, as well . Very catchy. The electronic loops are impressive
I looove this disco song !
Unexpected Lovers is a must ❤
What's the problem? This is a great song. Who cares about the video?
Yes, Denyse has a very high-pitched voice, this was right as the DISCO era was coming to a close
Great song!
Please do UNEXPECTED LOVERS by Lime.
Yes yessss
Nâh.
Unexpected Lovers and Angel Eyes are the best from Lime!
Awesome awesome reaction, Dereck. It's not cheesy...it's limey. LOL
Denis Lepage actually had production credit for Kat Mandu's "The Break", an awesome disco song with an intense build up.
Lime had quite a few hits which were VERY club-friendly. Don't sleep on high nrg dance music. There is A LOT of great music in this category and I feel like it could be considered the predecessor to 90's euro trance or techno, which I know you like.
Lastly, to make your weekend complete, this song was used in the beginning of Mariah Carey's movie "Glitter". It is one of the rare dance moments we have. I'm not going to link the video (I don't like to leave links on others' videos); however, it is titled "Glitter - Mariah Carey dance moment". It is on CZcams and is all of 40 seconds. What's better than this song? Mariah dancing to it! Peace!!
COME AND GET YOUR LOVE !!! ;-)
This is from 1981, that’s 41 years ago. Video cameras were barely invented and MTV wasn’t a thing.
Well, we can’t like everything ! Your review is legit. Thanks :)
This was a floor filler at discos around the globe! You should look into italodisco and also Bobby O. Mum was a disco dancing queen so grew up listening to all these fantastic songs.
"Do your time on the Planet" and "You've been untrue tonight" are their best hits.
She just passed. Denis LePage RIP. 🙏
Hey Dereck, you really need to check out the extended club version of this song. Especially the beginning, it starts out with only the main synth melody, and then it slowly builds up with the kick, base, and then all the other sounds. It’s much better than this radio edit version.
Fucking AWESOME, Clubbing dance song!
Well, I don't know what derek thinks about this song, but I approve. I love some cheesy music from lime and aqua and even toy-box.
They are from MONTRÉAL QUEBEC.
You need to react to the song Your Love.
Best lime song
@@vincentferrante8238 I love You're My Magician, also.
This remind me this bizarre videoclip From Sparks - When i'm with you
You know Dennis and Denise are actually the same person don't you. Denise is Dennis in drag they deserve a movie. And live performances they would hire other people to play them I read that in a book based on the most outlandish Disco knowledge or something in the 80s. The video is just camera tricks
You should have reacted to UNEXPECTED LOVERS by Lime first.
This was during the webbo dance days. If you knew how to dance. You pulled all the girls.
@Derek Reacts you Must react to Unexpected lovers
Siblins
Check Lime Your love and
You're my magician
I only knew the song and kinda liked it. Very good one on the dance floors in the early 80-ies. Only discovered the video some years ago and a lot of the magic suddenly disappeared. The persons didn’t match the voices and the video didn’t match the song. But it will stay in my guilty pleasure dance list, together with a range of Italo Disco songs 🕺💫
I had the exact same as you!
I always imagined him to be a hunk with thick hair and her to be a sexy latina. lol
WARNING DERECK: Today The Weeknd released two more videos!Take My Breath (Remix) feat. Agents Of Time. The music sounds like techno / house and Sacrifice (Remix) feat.Swedish House Mafia (Alternate World). The videoclip is completely different! The music is a KILLER!💥
You will crack when seeing The Weeknd 😊🤩❤and also similarities with MJ by paying him homage!😉😋
I'll see them in my own time, no one want to watch them on my channel! Lol
@@DereckReacts What???But i will that!!!!!
The video is so bad its good
That high voice is a falsetto. If you think this is cheesy, what would you think if you heard Da Da Da by Trio? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And if you don't like the contrast of their voices, don't ever listen to the great Spargo.
WTF xD
+ list :
Cheap Trick - Surrender
Feeling Good - Nina Simone
The Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
Blur - Girls And Boys
Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
Eyes of the Nightmare Jungle - Shadow Dance
Garbage - I Think I'm Paranoid
BABYLON ZOO - Spaceman
The Breeders - Cannonball
Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al
"Your love" from lime it's much better
Their #1 song, the best!
Great song but GUILTY is by far much better.
I Derek good vidéo i suggest Max & intro - Beogradska devojka
😂 Hilarious! Sorry if I’m hurting someone’s feelings, but this looks like an attempt (a successful one) at making Dereck not approve something…
Why? The song is great.
@@sexysadie2901 Because to me, it looks very cheesy or a kind of joke. But it’s nice if you find it great, I totally respect it. ;-)
My feelings are not hurt. It’s not for everyone !
I know which french artist you need to do brother !!! SUZANE - if you loved Indila you will love her, trust me it's bananas.
Suzane - L'insatisfait : czcams.com/video/93FaazBrGxs/video.html
The 80s were my dancing days so I wondered why I’d not heard this before then I realised it was a US release…absolutely terrible, I can see (or rather hear) why this never made the British charts.
I liked a lot of high energy music back in the day (much to my friends' embarrassment) but Lime never really did it for me in afraid..
Funny how grown men today have never heard this track before.
I guess that makes me a dinosaur... lol
This and "your love" were their hottest tracks (i.m.h.o.).
The huge contrast between their voices was one of the things i loved about Lime, but i van imagine you're having a hard time embracing her singing voice.
You should check out Divine and all the disco music of that'high energy' era.
Although the productions may sound amateurish by today's standards, there are some real gems out there.
They were a fixture in the 70s and 80s in most of the gay bars. I'm sure they didn't have the funds to make dazzling videos. The music was very dancable.
Early 80 videos were pretty much very low budget. Eventually MJ raised the bar and others followed.
this has to be a joke right????? dereck being very diplomatic on this one lol
Why? This is a great song.
Nope, I am not ashamed of my request.
Oh I'm sorry you were asked to react to this one Derek. Wrong song in my opinion. You should have reacted to Unexpected Lovers or Guilty by Lime
😂 This was bad in more ways than one. Clearly whoever requested this just wanted to baffle you.
Why? It's a great song.
This one should've been an audio reaction cause the video is too distracting. The song is great and very nostalgic. Dereck, check out their song Your Love next, it's even better.
Yeah, I did not. I wanted some change in the requests. I was getting sick of the same artists on this channel :) Not ashamed to say I was the requester !
@@SaraLilyRose Nothing to be ashamed of, it's a good 80's song. It's just the super cheap video that is very off putting. Next time, ask him to react to the audio version of Your Love so that he doesn't get distracted by the video. I know he'll love the song.
@@v.j.3029 It's ironic because Your Love IS my favorite Lime song, but I thought this one was better known so I hesitated a lot here. I also told Dereck in advance that the clip was disgusting, but hey....we can't please everyone ! I just wanted something new for this channel, it didn't go very well :D Hahaha !!
