Major flashbacks to Killeen airport. I was 18 when I landed there and joined the 1st Cav.
The friends that I have, the stuff that we did... I have been in contact with a couple of them.
My thanks to the airline too. I flew in with Rio Air in a Dash 7.

Fort Hood brings back memories...My husband was stationed there the late 70's.
We lived in Copperas Cove. Use to drive the back road to the commissary, but always had to wait for cattle to clear the small road as the cattlemen turned their cattle loose to graze..Big cattlemen near Fort Hood back then....

Hey Gary...or should I say Mr. Patriot. Why didn't you join the military when you were eligible and do your time? You missed Vietnam by a couple of years....so it would have been a good time for you. Now you're Mr. Honorary this...and that. And you have a Lt. Dan Band....?? How feakin corny can you get.
As a Vietnam/Draft resistor...one can only guess how I view this BS.
People can take a civilian track and still be patriots and still want to give back to our men and women who serve. If anything we need more civilians to step up like this and serve the military as friends and community members.
@@werideatdusk You're right. As a Vietnam/Draft resistor I was a patriot and stood up to my dysfunctional Government when it was wrong and was part of a movement that helped hasten the end of a war that wasted America for 10 years.
