The cross brace on your fence door is the wrong way. It should start at the bottom of hinge side and go up to the corner towards your locking mechanism. If you don’t change it your door will eventually sag

I had that Blanket made. That center pic was taken from the courgar mountain video. In that moment you said. "There's Hoop, watching out for danger, protecting us." I thought it was fitting for the center photo. So that he will always be watching out for you and protecting you on your journey.

Hey brother, keep in mind chickens can jump/fly a couple meters. They will likely want to perch on a fence if it’s low enough and could escape. so maybe build the fence around the coop slightly higher. Also might be wise to fox proof the fence with some chicken wire fencing buried under the fence to stop foxes from digging under. Seems like a big enough area for a good size flock. You’ll need nesting boxes 1 dry box filled with hay per 3 chickens is a good rule. They aren’t fussy as long as it’s a nice cozy dry space. And of course some perches for them to sleep on at night which they like a meter or so off the ground.
It’s also very important chickens can ‘dust bath’ get yourself an old bin or garden bed or make your own little sand pit that will stay completely dry. And fill it with clean sand and some ash/ charcoal from the fire pit. This is very important for the chooks health and will keep them happy and free of mites etc.
also design the coop itself with the ease of cleaning in mind, if you’d design it so that you can walk in there with a rake so you can simply rake out all the poop and old hay and throw it all onto a compost heap you will
Make your life easy and your garden and plants will love you for it. All that poop and old hat will break down into beautiful free manure for your garden.

This is a pretty solid suggestion and I would only add that I have had raccoons jump into trees, reach down into the chicken coop and snatch off our chicken's heads, while we had dogs. So....Its my opinion that a chicken coop and pin should be protected from the top as well.
Heya Will 😊 Just remember when building the chicken coop, dirt floors are easily breached by predators. They can dig underneath. Also, make sure the bottom sides of the structure are secured well. Animals can be very determined if hungry enough :p

@budsforyou5908 I know he does. But what if the dogs are away with him while hunting, or they've all gone on a walk on their 3 acres of land, etc. They might not be right next to the chickens 100% of the time..

Yes everybody that lives in the wilderness has chickenswire buried at least a foot and they have a closure to go inside at night to be protected.

On the chickens, remember they can clear out a spot of land in no time…you’ll have grass one day and the next just dirt. I always thought that you could build gated extensions off of the main pen and allow them to feed new areas of grass/insects. So, you open the gate to one extension and once they’ve cleared the grass close it off and open another.

Keep in mind the size of the chicken coop, unless you have a shit ton of them, they can handle a relatively small area.

That mulch is also super useful for laying on top of your garden beds, it will save u a lot of watering by keeping the soil protected from the sun and wind and over time breaks down and makes for great nutrition

I'd put the coop a little further from where you sleep because they can get a little stinky. For sure put the hen house up off the ground for heat in winter and to keep rain water from coming up through the floor. Also for the design you can burry 4 posts in the ground, wrap some chicken wire around it and staple or nail the wire to the posts

You can use a fallen down dead log to grow mushrooms all summer and fall. Drill holes in it and you can get starter plugs online for all sorts of types of mushrooms. Also maybe start composting to get rid of and make use of some of your organic trash.
Great idea! Mushrooms are great source of protein & essential amino acids , & they help your immune system , help longer life & some can be really great mood enhancers.

It’s so interesting to weigh your dogs. My Great Pyrenees gained 15 lbs every month the entire first year of his life. He’s almost 2 now still growing but it’s dropped off significantly.
It’s like every time you look at those pups they are twice the size. So loving and fun. You’re doing well with training. We had to get lessons. It was expensive but it was so worth it.
Those dogs are living the life!

For my chicken coop we used a tall tree in the middle as a pole and placed a net over the fence connected to the coop for them always and let them free range the rest of the time and just lock them up at night

You should get rabbits, they breed like crazy and they stay alive year round unlike chickens, js add some type of fat or oil when you cook it since they’re extremely lean

as far as a coop for chickens=winter heat can be provided by layering bedding in the bottom of the coop=as the layers break down they provide rising heat for winter

Growing up I was around chickens by the people who babysat me. They had small barn they used for the rooster. Outside pens for the hens. Chickens he wanted to breed he kept with the rooster. Hens for collecting eggs were outside. They had a 6 foot tall fence around all of this so they could roam. Chickens can also swim. Squirrels will be an issue going for the chicken feed.
