I got help coming up with my ponysona's name several years ago, (soon after becoming a Brony.) She’s a pinball wizard, since I love playing pinball, & her name is based on Rolling Thunder. Then in 2019, (around when G4 of MLP was ending,) I started loving PAW Patrol, & decided to make a PAW Patrol OC, who fixes pinball games. I named him Flippers, since that’s a part of pinball games, & sounds like it could be a dog’s name too. Once I realized that I’m a furry, (late September 2022,) I decided he’s my fursona too!
Funny enough. I technically designed my pony oc many years ago by just wasting time in a pony creator but never did anything with it. And funny enough I had a paw patrol phase a short while after and I was working on making a OC but I never got around to finishing it. (I think I ended up with a rough design that I never used) . I just got around to making his puptag. Which ended up giving inspiration to my pony oc's cutie mark A few years later. That was several years ago and I'm currently working on a fursona and I don't think I have a name working for him from either of those. As of writing this comment I'm still workshopping a name
This helped me a lot in choosing a name! Originally, I thought of using stereotypical names for my character, but then i saw that you could use one word to describe your character, than translate it into another language and *BaM* NAME. I made my characters name Zeijaku because, when translate from japanese to english, it means vulnerable. I made their name relate to vulnerable because they had a bad child hood, since the age of ten, after her mother had recently got divorced by her husband because she mistreated him, and quickly had brought it to court to sue her for the abuse. The mother got custody of their child, but she was very angry, so she saw her child as a punching bag. She started abusing her child. Her child started becoming more anxious and started isolating them self because they couldn't trust anyone around them anymore. Years went by, and they were now 19. Ever since they turned eleven, and had endured her mother physical and mental abuse for a year, they always was putting on a tough face and bottled up her emotions, but never really got the mental support she needed. But I guess you just asked for a name, so ill just put a short version here even though you probably already read the backstory- : *I named my character Zeijaku which translates to vulnerable in english because they grew up in a bad environment, and soon started bottling up emotions and putting on a tough face, but never got the support they needed*

I thought about a lot about this video and I choose Crystal because well he’s weightless spots, but I think it fits perfectly because well I literally wear him mostly in the winter anyway but sometimes for you know like Halloween and stuff
Nightshade comes the Belladonna plant which is commonly known as Deadly Nightshade. I thought it suited a melanistic jaguar character. Jaguars are beautiful animals, but they are deadly. I wasn't entirely sold on Nightshade Jaguar. A friend of mine suggested Dusker when we were watching From Dusk Till Dawn, one of my favorite movies, and said Dusker Nightshade. He said you should call your fursona Dusker Nightshade. I thought about it, it sounded kind of cool so Dusker Nightshade was born.
I eventually named my Zonky fursona Cream Puff do to the fact I have a massive sweet tooth. I also like baking and would like to aspire to be a pastry chef. I even made her a chocolate color with dark stripes. She also has lighter brown color to resemble pastry dough.
for mine, since I made her based off my profile picture (which was sorta related to this whole plot I had when I was nine for my "CZcamsr Persona" or something), I derived her name from my channel name/email. However instead of taking from the shadow part like you'd expect, I took from the pet part of shadowpetshop/pokemon pet. Thus I got Petra. which's been my fursona's name to this day, even after plenty of design changes to the point you couldn't tell she was originally a pikachu and eevee fusion.

Eclipse, I just had the weird dream last night and your fursona was in it. It began in some sort of snowy forest. Then I thought you and me were going to talk about something, but the whole time you're just looking at the sky. I don't really remember what happens next but I do remember that we ended up in some sort of car that looks like the car from "Back to the Future" then the driver which was my friend (not fursona) screams something that I don't remember. But I got teleported in some sort of Post Apocalyptic Middle eastern City and for some reason, you sat on the table looking at me and mumbles something. then I woke up with my cat next to me (the same cat that my brother put in the freezer). soooo yeah definitely the weirdest and coolest dream I ever had.

My fursona's name is Cerulean. Even though she doesn't have Cerulean blue on her. The way I came up with her name I was looking over an old oc and labeling the colors for them. One of those colors happened to be Cerulean blue. When I got to the color it just stuck out to me and I felt that it fit. Since then my fluffy dragon has been named Cerulean.

Had problems with a design a name or a theme for it but one nightmare later and bam came up with shallow and themed it off of that spooky river in super paper mario's underworld.

A lot of people thought I meant bacon or beacon. She's a pelican and well she's a bird, who has a beak so kind on obvious. So I had Beak but I wanted to add something to be the cherry on top so I added "on" to make it feel right. And thats how I got one of my main fursonas name Beakon
One of my fursona is named Yuki Hana so Snow Flower in Japanese. She is a white Folf with iceblue/teal markings. I named her that because she is calm, friendly and looks beautiful (like a flower) but can be rather cold, quiet and harsh without wanting to.
No Clue whom still be reading these but want to add on. My Fursona is a Deer, called Moseley Deer, a double joke name. As it can be interpreted as Mostly Deer, but also Moseley means Mouse Meadow/Clearing or could be Moss Area. So I use that as a reference to my colour scheming.
My fursona, Lazer, is a sparkledog, and, well, lazers tend to be bright, and/or colourful, and colourful he is! (At the time of making this comment, he is not in my profile picture).

I have a dragon fruit dragon fursona. In japanese it was Doragonfurutsu, so I named my lil buddy Gonfu. Thanks for the advise!
