Michigan CB David Long is the definition of what it means to be a shutdown corner. According to Pro Football Focus, he was one of the best defensive players all of last year. While you won’t see the number of picks or pass break ups you’d might like to see on the statsheet, there’s a reason for that. Not many opposing offenses choose to target him. He only allowed 9 receptions all season & ranked 2nd with a 32.3% forced incompletion percentage. How about 2nd qtr, 5 min remaining Michigan has OSU pinned back 2nd and 15. Paris Campbell scrambles around and Long is the last one to have a good chance to tackle him was out of position and takes a poor angle, dives and misses and gives up 33 yards. Got beat on 2nd and 10 with 30 sec left in the 2nd. Had to hold the receiver and get a flag.
