Thank you so much for this video. I love the way you explain these processes, and your voice somehow conveys that you've got confidence that we can do this without messing it up which was a big help to my own confidence.
Totally useful, right now I'm typing with my brand new key caps with no loosie clic sound at all.
With the clear instructions in the video, I am able to fix the sticky key on my 2020 MacBook Pro. Thanks you so much for the information you provided.
Many thanks, it was an extremely clear guidance, helped me a lot.
brilliant explanation, thanks so much!
It is so helpful! Thank you very much.
Excellent! You made my day!
This is an excellent video. I had broken one of the clips on the backspace key cap that holds the stabiliser bar to the key on a 2020 M1 Macbook air
I ordered replacement keys and when fitting the new key cap, I managed to damage the new one but this time I damaged the hooks at the top due to not inserting correctly. It was only after watching this video do I now understand that they are hooks and how to set the key correctly. When the hooks are damaged, the key remained totally depressed/sunk.
I've ordered another set of key caps but in the interim I took a spare replacement tab key cap which is the same size as the backspace key and this clipped on perfectly following your method
Thank you!
Well done video, thank you

Any tips on how to replace one of the metal hooks that holds in the stabilizer bars?
Where do get that little key tool wedge that you use to get the key caps off?!
Man.. i need help with my arrow key button… underneath the right arrow key the button thats under the key came off and i dont know how to put it back in
What does it mean if my shift key stabilizer bars are lying flat? It seems as though yours have a little bounce to them. When I click the shift key into place, it's stuck in "pressed" mode and doesn't come up :/
I HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HELP IF+S DEFFINETLY NEEDED
I think i have the same problem, i do have the new keycap but for some reason it remains stuck once i put it into place. Help would be greatly appreciated
great help - take my like and sub
How do I replace the delete key on my macbook pro late 2011? I got it off, but can't get it back on. It has a little metal swinging bar on the underside. Can you help or lead me to a video? Thanks!
Hi when I press the Tab key back, it's no longer bounced back. Does this mean the key is defect? I tried a few times and no luck.
Thank you. Unfortunately the bottom of the actual keycaps has all of it's clips broken, so they will need to be replaced.
Having issues with my key shift key sticking all the way down after installing
Hello, the same thing happened to me. Do you have any solution?
This might seem obvious to some, but N looks to the same if you rotate it. xD great explanation
11:34 the spacebar is not set correctly, it will not be pressed. There's a tape, and you have to put the rods in it.
I don't understand how to proceed because the key I ordered has a clip pre installed with it. Will I need to remove the new clip from the key first? Or should I just remove the old clip and then put the key with attached clip in.
Yes all needs to be done is the clip/hinge be removed, just make sure to pay attention to where you have to slide out the clip and where you have to just pop it out. Hope that helps
Hi!
Do you have to replace the clip? My mac is german instead of english, so I only need a few keycaps replaced.
Thank you very much!
Hello! No, you can just replace the keycaps if the clips is not damaged.
@@macreplacementkeys Thank you do much! You're a life saver!
@@macreplacementkeys Hi again!
Waited over a month, and the keycaps finally arrived today! Your video was extremely helpful, and now my macbook looks perfect! Thank you so much once again!
You seem to have encountered the same problem that I have with the SpaceBar. When replacing this keycap, after depressing to click into place, the keycap remains flush with the Top Case.
I repair MacBook Air (M1, 2020) devices all day. I perform complete take apart repairs. This is the only repair that I have been unable to complete properly. I have followed GSX Article IDTP1816 to successfully replace many keycaps, but just cannot get this one right. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@dallastaylor7106 did you ever find a solution to this?
@@taylorross5227I did finally get it. I just was inserting the keycap at too steep of an angle, so when I pressed down they were clipping into place without the top part being properly slotted.
@@dallastaylor7106 Ahh okay. I cannot get it to not be pressed down/flush with case part. This is good intel though. Thanks for the reply! When you say the top part, do you mean the notches that go into the white scissor buttons? Those need to be in place first before click in with the metal bars?
@@taylorross5227 Yes, when I say top, I'm referring to the top side of the keycap. The part that needs to slide into the upper part of the scissor mechanism. Once that is properly in place, you can just press down on the lower portion of the keycap.
So, with the upper stabilizer bar connected to the keycap, you'll get the stabilizer bar set in the keyboard, then with the keycap as flat as possible, you will slide the keycap toward the screen. If the upper part is installed properly, when you click the bottom into place, the keycap should rise to the proper height and function properly.
Reading that back, it's as clear as mud... Hope you can make some sense of it. Please let me know if you're able to make it work.
@@dallastaylor7106 So appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that. Going to give it another try with your directions. Will report back!
They keys feel softer and less clicky after i replaced them. Is that normal and fixing itself after a while or did i fuck up my keyboard lol?
I'm seeing the same. The keys are lying lower after replacement (there's no light bleed under the keys that were replaced) and the amount of travel is significantly reduced. It seems like maybe the hooks at the top of the keys might not be engaging properly.
Edit: I bought some replacement keycaps from Amazon and they've resolved the problem. I think I must have damaged the hooks when removing the keys

Is is the same keyboard on Macbook Pro 2019 16 inch ?
I have the same question, looks a little different to me (my Enter key isn't L-shaped, for example)
@@JeffWilson2000 same computer different region.
@@JeffWilson2000 You have a US keyboars version, the reversed L shape layout is for UK and other region .
