I just want to say Adriana is very very smart. She may not say words the same as us but she understands perfectly. She knows 5 languages and it takes her a moment to pull out the right sentences sometimes. She gets excited! She really is enthusiastic about being able to represent VS. Before when she couldn't speak fluently she couldn't represent women like she does now. I appreciate the effort it took you to pick English up. Her French, Portuguese and Italian is perfect!!

cuz her husband is Turkish...so she can speak Turkish too.... maybe cuz of that can't speak English fluently.....I'm a Turkish girl and can speak arabic and English but if course not as the natives do.

I'm from Brazil, and I have a sister that lives in USA and is just like Adriana, she can understand everything that people say to her and she can also speak fluently, but the way she pronounces the words is still a challenge. And apparently, Adriana has the same difficulty. But this is not bad, it gives them an unique identity and figure.

Sara was right. My draw dropped when Adriana opened that Secret Angel segment. It was probably the best VS walk ever. And it's really nice to see how the girls look up to Adriana. They should. And that Adriana adresses Alessandra as well.

I still think that speaking various languages, even if they are similar to each other, means that this person is quite good at learning languages. I for example speak Spanish, and I can understand a bit of Portuguese or Italian, but I don't speak those languages. Also, even though she is a supermodel, I don't know her personally so I will not assume she is not very smart just because she is a supermodel.

Actually, Alessandra Ambrósio has Polish and Italian ancestry (according to Wikipedia = /), but I doubt she has any Portuguese blood in her vein, even though the Azoreans (people from a region in Portugal) colonized the region of Rio Grande do Sul (where Alessandra was born) and east of Santa Catarina. My maternal great-grandfather was surnamed Ambrósio, like Alessandra's, who is sometimes said to be Italian, although I doubt that there is any such Ambrósio in Portugal, since I am sure he was a descendant of Portuguese. I agree with you that culture and personality were important in the fact that Brazilians models are what they are today as international and capable models. A fact that strikes me is some of the black African models that also parade for Victoria's Secret are from Angola (a country colonized by Portugal) such as Maria Borges and Sharam Diniz. Too much of a coincidence, huh? Maybe genetics will tell you a little, do not you think? I do not see many models from Puerto Rico and Venezuela, or even from Colômbia (winners of "all" Miss Universe contests) to parade for the brand or present to the world top models like Brazil does. Not even México, country of some beautiful women and so interconnected to the US does. These are countries colonized by Spaniards, speak Spanish (a language more palatable than Portuguese in the US) and are countries with a culture and a people with an incredible personality in general, very similar culturally to Brazilians. Maybe they do not have model agencies as connected to the European, North American, or Japanese (more influential) market as Brazilians. Another fact is the rankings of beauty done randomly or by some sites of futilities like The Richest (perhaps not so reliable) and that position the Brazilians as one of the most beautiful people in the world. Let's face it, beauty may have everything to do with personality and charisma, but those first 15 minutes that we look at the person are directly related to the physical characteristics of the individuals (those 15 minutes that catch your attention). But I really have to agree with you that they just stand by them because they relate well, be polite and have a good mood, otherwise they would have been retired a long time ago. Well, that's my point of view.
But they don't look alike , you can especially tell that now when they sit next to each other. Sorry, but light eyes & dark hair don't make you look like Adriana Lima.
