Manipur Journalists Demand Termination of A Sub- Inspector For Assaulting Journalist
Journalists in Manipur staged a protest rally today in response to the assault of a colleague from Impact TV by an Assistant Sub-Inspector. The incident occurred while the journalist was covering a protest by Internally Displaced Persons.
The press community is demanding the immediate termination of the police officer involved, condemning the attack as an infringement on press freedom and an act of violence against a member of the media performing their duty.
Following the rally, representatives of the journalists met with Chief Minister N Biren Singh at his official residence in Babupara and submitted a memorandum outlining their demands.
