I've been listening to this one my phone for the past few weeks to help me minister with my wife, who struggles with feeling 'less than...' I love her so much, and helping her to feel that she is a daughter of God and loved by her earthly family, the family that she married into and by the family she will one day create with me. You posted this 3 years ago. I hope your family has been blessed for your efforts. Your wife seems to have the best husband! I serve in YW and I have no kids and no husband. I do however love this talk because you don’t need a family to be an example. I always know whenever I see my girls. Sadly I cannot with Covid-19, but I want to dress in modesty because I struggled in my teen years. I want to show them that they can overcome these clothing challenges with modesty. How we dress as leaders and adults, the kids see. They even notice - I learned this because one of my girls has a similar jacket to mine and my girls pointed out that we were twins. Modesty in adults is just as important as teaching it to the kids. Be as we preach!
This makes me think of the storybook, You Are Special by Max Lucado. We don't have to measure ourselves to anyone. We are not them, we have many good things about ourselves, we have many different talents, we can all become something great in the eyes of Heavenly Father and in ourselves 😊 We don't have to rely on other's opinions of the talents we are given, I learned this from drawing with others checking on my work and when I made my Mormal Dress, I knew how I wanted it and that it would be beautiful, we had to get more fabric that wasn't the exact same fabric but the same pattern in different colors. My mom and sister disagreed but I wanted both even though they were different colors. It came out marvelous even though they couldn't see what I was thinking of. Know what You want and think not what others want and think for you.
Young women have a special place in the heart of the church. From Young Women's teachers and counselors to the General Presidency and Apostles and Prophet, our youth is sustained and upheld. Listen to those who can share a broad outlook on the transitions of life, who have seen the fads and trends of the world come and go, who have pure motives for our well being and happiness and who see in us the jewels of promise that we sometimes can't yet see in ourselves. Trust those who see divinity in your eyes.
I never thought that fashion was an appropriate topic to discuss in church. But, if it is going to be done, it should include suggestions for both females and males not just females.
