I've been working for over a decade now to build an accurate, deep and wide genealogy. Found a tree my Mom wrote for me, probably around the time you share yours in school. It's so full of inaccuracies. But I'm glad I've been able to solve so many brick walls - with a few still to solve - along the way.

I use fire proof locking totes for my research so they don't get ruined in case something happens. Got mine on amazon. I also bus over an hour to Seattle to work at the Seattle public library's genealogy Collection which is the largest records and reference collection in the Pacific Northwest

I have been surprised at how much inaccuracy that has been in family trees I’ve been using to form mine. When I’ve been tracking mine, I have found people use others trees without verifying their accuracy and sources. If the sources have close similarities, such as age, name, place of birth, I check to see how many DNA matches I have to extended family members. If no matches, I begin doing the similar matches, then get the mother-load of dna hits, and realize the others trees chose the wrong person.

A few months ago i came across my nanna's paternal ancestry at my late grandparents house. I am the most recent addition. Several of the descendant names are amongst my DNA matches. This wasn't a book but 2 Manila envelopes with typed up stapled papers with a taped and gives family tree including several Swiss relatives. The issue? Right off the bat I knew I'm gonna need descendant help for verification because my birthday was wrong by 3 days, my grandpa's paren ts surnames were backwards (switched), and its missing my nanna's sister who's still alive, that my dad says 'no one talks about". So far only 2 descendants- DNA matches have responded and only 1 of those 2 have the same packets of info for comparison.
