    You're absolutely right about Subaru service, and the dearth of information. The manual tells you nothing except "bring it in for service." Useless. They don't even tell you how much oil you need.

    Thanks for the info. I have a 2019 6MT and am close to 30,000 miles, so this is something I need to look into.

      It's super easy..the dealership will try and charge you a fortune.

      @@ftwbeard1730 Yeah, it's ridiculous. That's why if I can do it myself, I will. At least things like air filters and oil changes are easy.

      @@voyager33mw the crosstrek is really easy to service. You can easily change the differentials yourself..I didnt even have to Jack it up.

    If you ever make a second (update) video it would be nice to show the drain and fill locations on the vehicle

      Exact same set up on my 2017 Subaru Impreza. I was also having a tough time finding info !

    Did you replace the crush washers on the front MT/Diff and on the rear diff? If so, what are the part numbers you used? I've had trouble tracking that info down.

      No I didn't replace them. They were in really good shape. Very simple job. Subaru does a good job at making everything pretty accessible. With the exception of replacing the spark plugs.

    Fantastic video! Thank you...👍 So just to confirm, the front differential and manual transmission share the same oil, correct? So one oil drain and fill takes care of both the front diff and transmission?

    Is this the same for the previous generation? I believe you fill the manual trans from where the dipstick is on the passengers side underneath the intake tubing

      Yep...its the same..pretty easy.

    are there any torque specs for re-tightening the bolts?

      Im sure there are but I do that stuff by feel. I just make sure its tight enough to not leak but not so tight I can't break it loose next time!

    Did you replace the washer on each drain plug or was it not necessary

      I did but it wasn't necessary. They are your typical crush washer that can be used more than once.

      @@ftwbeard1730 awesome thanks for the quick reply dude! I figured it was not oem specific. Some of these forums will tell you only to use Subaru oil only etc but I’m gonna do the valvoline like you did it’s all the same stuff

      @@Arrowslinger123 yeah..I use valvoline for everything. The only time I go brand specific is coolant or automatic trans fluid

      The drain plug and then filled through dip stick.

    Most definitely not true about the Stealerships and information. My stealership gave me all the info i asked for.
