  • This was a long days work for the that did this service to Moorswater,
    it would depart Earles Siding at 18.35 on Monday travel down to Cornwall arriving early on Tuesday morning, but wouldn't get back to Earles Sidings to Wednesday morning. The Outward working was 6V20

      Cheers for your interest in this poplar video, normally the train over the last few years has only ran on a Thursday from South Wales in the months from May to August time, but who knows what will happen this year.

    I was a shunter on the Moorswater from 1984 for many years. In my time it was all class 37s and mostly we'd bring up 15 CDA wagons full of China clay. Later the cargo was cement, though I was never involved with that.

    Being a bit of a novice with trains - how powerful are these units in terms of pulling freight are they regarded as good engines by rail buffs ? Sorry if these questions seem a little naive 👍🏻

      Richard these locos do about 85% of the freight workings in the U.K. I would rather have the old days when we had verity. Yes they are a powerful loco as they can haul thousands of tons. Thanks for your interest.

      Yeah that’s right, I’ve filmed the Colas working a few times at Dawlish Warren but never been down to Moorswater since I did this filming. Thanks for comment and watching.

      Hi Mike, yes they are trying hard to keep us safe. On the workstation your more than two metres away and in between times you have to be careful. The amount of people in the building has been drastically reduced and anyone with under lying conditions is staying at home. Everyone wiping down and extra cleaners in. So far all good. No probs, good video. Hope your keeping safe?

    In the time that all this shunting went on my road trailers would have been at their destination with all my manufactured goods deliverd to my clients DC. Sorry rail is dead. DEAD.

      Yeah, the thing is, each of these tankers carries about 46 tonnes, I think. So a train of say 20 of these would require 20 lorries, or more. Rail wins on large quantities, not small loads.

      My 44 tonnes are far less polluting than these old rail locomotives.
