Newest rescue pup gets introduced to Finnegan Fox and Fox Friends

- Everyone meet our newest rescue Hallux!
He’s will likely be a amber colored domestic red fox. He was a breeder surrender and urgently needed our help! He’s missing all his toes on one back foot, and has just one toe remaining on the other.
His injuries were likely caused from his mother overgrooming him. This can happen when fox parents are stressed. It’s also possible that his siblings caused the injuries by playing to roughly. Rarely, Fox kits can severely injure or even kill each other due to their rough housing, from a very young age.

He will soon be transferred to Clevyr Creatures Fox Sanctuary but while he is in our care, we are asking for DONATIONS to cover his veterinary needs and care costs!!

They all so do things like cats, like ripping other animals apart for no reason. Also self centred and disloyal. Foxes are little more than vermin, more so in the uk

If I remember correctly foxes are one of the few animals that will willingly take in orphaned kits from other foxes.
@@persona9709 It's not just about foxes taking in orphaned kits, though they do, occasionally. Two pairs, a tod and two vixens, or two vixens will often den together and co-parent each others' kits in the right environment. Where there are enough resources in an area, it's actually a huge bonus--more parents to protect the den, more parents to hunt and bring back food, etc--and the adult foxes involved seem to make little to no distinction between their genetic offspring and the others.
But adult foxes can also sense when a kit is sickly and unlikely to survive, even when it's not obvious to humans without a veterinary exam. They don't typically abandon their own sickly kits, but they definitely pull away from an unrelated kit that seems likely to die.
It's not just about a kit being sick, either. Rather, adult foxes seem to be able to tell when a kit has genetic or systemic illnesses/defects, rather than something run-of-the-mill they can recover from.
We've seen it a few times on this channel, where a sickly kit who seemed to be recovering was introduced to Finnegan and the gang. The adults were curious and polite but after relatively brief investigations of the kit, they all pulled away. It's like they know the kit won't be with them long and so they aren't willing to bond and invest in the kit physically or emotionally.
So, the fact that they were all excited to meet the kit and stayed excited and curious is a really good sign for the kit's health and future!

I love how he wants to explore, but as soon as he gets a bit uncomfortable, he runs back to Mommy. Just precious !

This is what it's all about. From the big ones to the littlest newborns. They all get to live the happiest little life instead of languishing somewhere that these beautiful creature's don't deserve. It's so easy to see how happy little Hallux is to be able to feel grass and explore. And thanks to Save a Fox, the world is a bit better knowing they get this chance.❤

Everyone starts out as a cute baby. Then it just goes downhill from there.
How come? It seems completely expected. Lots of animals are way cuter than humans, and one cannot change how cute they are, so putting a timeline on cuteness makes no sense :D . The "I'll ever be" part, as if it can change in the future :D.

First time touching grass must feel so surreal for the pup, because that's their natural environment. Running through grass is in their DNA. Like an otter swimming for the first time.

It’s hard to believe that any animal at any stage of its life could have been deprived of the pleasure of walking on grass. So nice to see how gentle the other foxes are knowing the size difference.

As a human you can only get a tiny touch of the exploding exitement this little guy has just experienced. Everything suddenly works together: his senses, his instincts, his developing fox interlect.
