Working with images in tableau can be a bit frustrating. one of the frustrating parts of the workflow is getting images sized to fit the web object pane if you're loading them from the internet. In this video, I combine the capability of the image hosting service Cloudinary with the capability of a Tableau to allow you to change the size of an image being loaded dynamically through a calculation without having to first render the image or create duplicate versions.

Super cool! As someone who doesn't have a lot of experience using image processing software, I can see this being really helpful.
Spectacular, nice one Tim !
Great reference thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Do you know how to calculate the slope and show it in tableau.e.g. take superstore dataset do a moving average across time (month on x axis, Moving Average Sales on y axis) How to calculate the slope here (especially when date is on one dimension) Any ideas? Thanks
Hey @TableauTim I was wondering if you had any suggestions on supporting this with subscriptions. I implemented this process in our client reporting stuff BUT when I try and generate the subscription to PDF, none of the images get saved. Its very sad.
Hi Tim,
When you download a PDF version of a dashboard containing images from a URL, the container is always blank. Do you know of a solution that allows 1. The picture to be downloaded, 2, at the intended original resolution. Thanks
I think this behaviour might have change din 22.2 but let me test. there's a new native prowser printing feature that night have effected this will try and find out
Would this service require us to store our data in their server, or can we use our own server to store the images?
Good question. They rely on alot of cloud computation and machine learning in AWS I think to run some of theses transformations so I don think they have a self hosted flavour. Worth asking them though I'm sure they get asked this all the time.
When hovered over images it shows entire URL in tooltip.....please guide to hide that
Edit the tooltip in marks shelf or disable tooltips. I have a video on tooltips. czcams.com/video/3SuHBoRzfyQ/video.html
Can we use SPLIT instead of FIND, RIGHT?
yep could have done that but i think you'd need to build up the URL a lot more.
You got a reply from my personal account wow ahah. That never happens.
