There’s no way the coach wasn’t aware of this, he’s been there 17 years and probably just kept going with “traditions” thinking he’ll never get caught.
Those saying that it is woke and soft to be against this kind of stuff really needs to take a good hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask yourself, "why the hell am I standing up for the right for people to sexually assault someone just because it's in a locker room?" Because that's what was happening hear. Forcing people to get nude and perform sexual acts against their will. If this was your daughter or son would you be ok with this happening to them?
This school's football program should 100% receive the death penalty similar to what SMU got. Sexual hazing has no place in the world, and the fact it happened in 2023 is shameful.
No. And I hate everything woke with a vengeance.
Let’s say you’re an animal that thinks this is woke nonsense, the question is: what the hell championships is Northwestern winning with naked bear crawls? You think Alabama, Georgia, Clemson doing this BS? Northwestern players were more worried about hazing freshman than winning that Big 10.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheritrix5733so being against sexual assault is woke? Jeez really shows how terrible of a person you must be lol.
Any evidence to your sexual assault claims?
This really made me like Pac even more. Bro just was straight up not having it.
The coach saying he had no idea it was happening for 15+ years is just as bad as him saying he knew it was happening. He either lying or just plain incompetent.
Lying
670 The Score in Chicago had a bunch of NW people on today, some where past players. The general sentiment was that Fitz carried over the culture from the previous head coach, Randy Walker, who he was an assistant to. Both of them had a "water makes you weak" kind of mentality. For those who remember, Walker was the head coach when a player died due to dehydration and heat stroke during training camp. NW is also the same school that had suspend its women''s soccer team in 2006 for extreme hazing as well.
"You get a Northwestern game on your TV, you're bummed about it." Pat just casually roasting Northwestern.
As a Northwestern alum and season ticket holder, he’s not wrong.
Letting this happen as a coach is embarrassing and a terrible look, but pretending you don't know what's going on in your locker room is pathetic and humiliating.
Agreed. Even if it was true that he didn’t know what was going on, as a head coach, you should know what is going on, or you don’t deserve to be head coach.
@@hchwhatmy head coach in juniors knew exactly what was happening for hazing exercises that our captains and the veterans did to us rookies and he had only been the coach for 2 years. This guy knew. He just will deny it to make himself look like a victim too.
Those that condone this sort of crap are in their hearts cowards and never take responsibility for their actions or lack of action.
Announcing a two week suspension, then firing the guy two days later is pathetic and humiliating.
@@johns3318 well the guy deserved to be fired so
The best journalism school in the country... lawyers got him suspended, journalists got him fired.
J.A. Adande is the Director of Sports Journalism at the Daily Northwestern
Can't be the best if this has been happeningfor years....
It seems as though some journalist would be responsible for hiding things
Yes he did
As an NU student our student newspaper is garbage haha
Dude went 1-11 last year. He should've been fired for that alone.
Hazing was huge when I was in the military, in the infantry. Leadership ALWAYS knew it was happening and pushed for it.
To the point of everyone having a phone. A lot of times they were taken away or people were too scared to get them out. If you’re already being assaulted, you’re not just going to whip out your phone?
This stuff is disgusting and has no place in football or the rest of society
Facts
Amen!
Bingo!
That this was happening not off campus, not just in the locker room, but on the field and at their "Camp Kenosha" which got banned shows that the coaches and staff HAD to know this was going on. Any player or former player who witnessed this or participated in this is to blame for their coach getting fired if he truly didn't know because someone should have spoken up. I'm sure someone did and got Shrek'd. The fact that no current or former player is willing to go on the record and explain why the allegations are "exaggerated and twisted" while admitting what did happen is damning as well.
Pat Fitzgerald played at NW
The hazing issues probably have been going on when he played there 20+ years ago and continued
However, the biggest crock of this whole situation is that the coaching staff were all retained but the HC was let go. BUT, the report said the HC didn't know it was happening but the rest of the program it was well known...ie, the assistants and staff...who were retained. That makes ZERO sense. If you're the administration and you're supposedly taking this seriously, you should get rid of the whole crew.
I get what you are saying but you have to look at it from the stand point that he was the HEAD Coach...key word is HEAD. If his assistants and staff were the ones administering the hazing then that makes him guilty of gross negligence for not knowing what they were upto. You cannot turn a blind eye to 17+ people doing something to a team of 100+ and hide behind a "I didn't know it was happening" excuse. I mean yes the staff should also all be fired but you get rid of the person who should have known everything that was going on in his program and then gather the evidence to remove the rest. I'd be shocked if the entire coaching staff survive this....I'd be even more shocked if they promoted one to Head Coach.
Sad to hear this crap still goes on…
Imagine if they knew how the military is run 😂
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. As a former D3 equipment manager fwiw, even we don’t have our players pack gear or pump the balls or do laundry, we were in the locker rooms and around players every second of the day. The coaches had to have known in some capacity or even equipment staff/trainers/managers would know about some of the stuff going on in the locker rooms. As a non-staff member even I would’ve noticed some of this sickening behavior and would’ve been complicit in allowing it to happen. Too many people had to have known to even begin to count. Hell, we even practiced in the indoor football facility of Northwestern before our games the next day sometimes. It just doesn’t make sense how long it was allowed to happen if this was common knowledge.
If there is evidence of this over a decade NW needs the death penalty from the NCAA. This can't nor should happen again.
As a 6 time little league state champ, I can co-sign everything you’re saying
Fear.
He may have not known of certain incidences or not participated in certain ones. But he definitely knew about the practice considering how long he'd been there. lol
This dude is a D3 waterboy
WTFF😂😂😂😂😂
DUDE THANK YOU FOR THAT ONE
Appreciate your perspective, means a lot hearing it from NFL players when there’s a lot of old school damaged people whining for the fired coach and playing every card to ignore/downplay/dismiss what happened to the players. If you’re pro hazing, go see a dominatrix and keep your fucked up kinks to yourself and consensual partners
I played on a D2 program where nothing like this happened. We had fun, and yes some would consider it hazing now but the older guys would make us Freshman stand on a cafeteria table in front of the volleyball team, take our shirt off and sing “I’m a little tea pot”……obviously you didn’t “have” to do it but if you did, you were quicker to be accepted by the older guys.
I did it, I still think it was good clean fun. But I am sure that someone would blow the whistle on this today if it were to happen.
Yeah that is what helps yall get through the hard 2 day practice lol.
Not really. You just said it. It's optional. The older guys weren't forcing you in any way
Yeah that’s not bad at all.
that not bad just kinda of a fun little prank in a way and the older guys didn't force you, thats nice
Maybe it took so long to get out was because over half of the ESPN reporters are Northwestern Alum, and they were uncomfortable asking questions for fear of losing access.
But that would imply that they are asking athletes from other schools if they are getting hazed. I really doubt that when they get the ability to ask players from Ohio State, USC, Alabama, Clemson, etc they ask them if they are getting hazed in the locker room. The reason this doesn't come up is because the people who get hazed are really really embarrassed and don't want to talk about it.
Why is it school newspapers and not law enforcement investigating this?
They are. It's just that the school hired someone, a 3rd party investigating team, and they're investigating it.
Because it’s a fake accusation made by bitter players… believed by woke admin staff.
This story points up the extent to which ordinary fans (and some members of the media) don’t understand what goes on behind the scenes within major college football programs. I don’t even understand why hazing goes on at college fraternities.
You guys should listen to the interview Michael Wilbon who is a Board of Trustees member on Northwestern had on the Waddle & Silvy show on ESPN 1000 Chicago talked about the situation today it was informative from a guy on the inside.
Will be great if you can share a link here. Can't seem to find it on CZcams and nothing comes up after googling it.
@@bringbackdennisagreed
They should cancel the football season at Northwestern. Cut and kick out all those who knew about and took part in the hazing. And they should out the kids publicly
Screw Northwestern for treating Pat like this Northwestern shouldn’t even be in the Big Ten. They bring absolutely nothing to the table in athletics
I absolutely love packman’s constant “wut” inputs 😂 Such a great addition to the crew! Fits right in for sure.
Yea pacman the dude who beats women and is a drug addict lmao such a great role model
Yeah
Been there done just cause I was from a different province in Canada for hockey and the guys that where from there said to me after the camp that the coach will let me go as I wasn’t from there!! BULL🤬 30ish years ago!!
I remember in college when I joined my fraternity, the school was watching us like a hawk for hazing. This would have been fine if they treated the sports teams equal to us as they openly hazed their freshmen in busy areas around the school.
Bottom house and/or not fraternity in the south? 😂
"How has this not got out?" I honestly can't fathom how people don't understand the embarrassment of this, as well as, the power dynamics of a mentor, coach, or leader over a young and impressionable kid(s) who thinks this is their only chance at their dream. Same zero thought statement people said about Penn State and the Olympics gymnastics team.
The E60 is about to be fire.
If Fitz didn't know, it was a willing ignorance.
think about how long it took for Penn State to come out. This is not shocking, it's a trend. Its a trend that needs to stop
Even if the HC didn’t know he deserves to be fired. It was his job to know. So either he didn’t do his job right or he tolerated (worst case: encouraged) the alleged practices.
The players defending the coach makes me believe 100% he had a part of this.
I didnt know Thad Castle transfered from BMS to fuckin Northwestern😂😂. Also its crazy looking back at oreo race and imagining Northwestern were doin similar things..like wtf is a Naked Bear Crawl😡
I'm trying to figure what's the purpose of doing a bear crawl naked. If they want to see some dong swinging, there's plenty of free sites.
Look how long it took to expose Sandusky at Penn State. In closed cultures it's easier to get away with things. The easy threat of "you'll never play again if you talk". It does surprise me that this happened at Northwestern. It being an elite academic university that can sometimes claim it's difficult to compete against the football mills universities where academics are a distance 2nd in terms of importance to the program. But, so it goes. I hope they clean things up and the Deans of other universities should be insuring crap like this isn't hiding behind their closed doors.
if losing is a sign of player hazing someone should look into Nebraska
Love It Pat The Pat McAfee Show Bro
The only hazing that should be acceptable is making rooks carry some bags or get practice balls.
I was in the army about a decade ago. New privates were being waterboarded with dirty mop water. Not a universal thing by any means. They've tried to crack down, but it still happens plenty of places besides football.
The school leadership should be fired as well. Two week suspension despite what was said???
Keep it real for us guys
Thank you to THE MAT PCAFEE SHOW for taking the stand that needs to be taken
Is that name inversion a running joke? I watch this show frequently and never heard it.
@@christianrapper it needs to be
I was done at Naked QB Center exchange lmao smh
“Ignorance claims are not a valid one.” 100% correct. (I’m looking at you Penn State)
Saying Northwestern has “never won” isn’t accurate, that comment at the end of the video. There have been 10-win seasons, bowl victories, etc. But yeah, they have been “ass” the past few seasons.
Not knowing is an indictment as well to one’s leadership.
Now imagine this being a ______ coach like Colorado’s.
He was probably hazed as a student there and got used to the environment. And even benefitted himself in some ways by keeping his mouth shut about it as a student. Humans learn to do these things to each other. It’s an unhealthy environment. Ultimately a coaches number one job is to create a safe environment for their players. Ultimately it’s an administrations number one job to put people in leadership that that are able to create a safe environment for their students. This is a University failure from top to bottom.
The head coach played there and claims he didn't know? Sure thing bud.
Key word “allegedly” whhhaaaadddd
The coach never denied it happening.
I saw the thumbnail right as I clicked on another video and thought the Ravens fired John Harbaugh... I thought that was mad, being he's a good coach and the season starts so soon. Never clicked back to look at a video so quickly before.
Ya but how many other coaches new about it . If you are firing pat Fitzgerald THEN YOU BETER BE FIREING THE REST OF THE COACHES
I was fortunate to not have experienced too much hazing in my football career besides ceremonially being burnt with hot knife in high school. Think about that statement…😂
I was straight up set on fire, dog. Dude took a lighter to my jersey and I don’t know if an additive was applied but my practice jersey went up quick. I had long hair at the time too… HAD, key word. lmfao
Pretty easy to tell from these comments which ones participated in hazing
Coaches know or don’t want to acknowledge it
You know what else gives people a bad name? Selling out to ESPN after years of promises to not do exactly that.
You should see what all happens here in Lincoln, huskers have some DIIIIIRTY hands too but that will never come out

My pops coached for 47 years. It was tried once.....then never again. There's nothing good natured about it.
No comment on the hazing but Fitzgerald coaching record was only 51% winning and he was there 17 years? I know Northwestern is not a football dynamo but 51%. and he is owed 42 million? WOW!!!!! Give me that contract!
Sigh ikr. Unbelievably bloated contracts are way too common it seems. Im so glad these kids at least have NIL rights finally…
Not defending him but you should check the grades needed to get into northwestern and the teams that they play. Not exactly easy to win there, he actually did a good job winning games for that program. The problem is the hazing not the coaching.
finding even an average coach at that level is difficult
It’s crazy. I work at in the Legal Affairs Office at LU. The football program here has to eliminate all vulgarity. They are super afraid of being accused of hazing so from edited rap music during drills to coaches not using cuss words at all, they (LU) don’t want to get accused of anything. Better safe than sorry.
NW coach will get cashed out. NW will have to stretch their legal muscles to try and argue for cause. LU has a type of clause that allows for them to breach and not have to pay. But it’ll be interesting to watch.
everything is getting so soft it’s insane..
@@Killacam1992wtf? You're good with sexual hazing or "Running"? IDK about you, but I don't want my kid attending any program like NW, this doesn't make boys men.. If you're ok with this it says a lot about you as a human.
@@Killacam1992 You can still gather a bunch of dudes to hump and sexually degrade you - don't let this stop you from fulfilling your kinks. Not everyone enjoys that, though
@@Killacam1992they were forcing players to get naked and perform sexual acts, why do you enjoy that?
@@DocSnicklefritz wtf are you talking about? What does what I said or this comment have anything remotely related to what you said?
Ayahuasca 😂
Supposedly there’s evidence and accounts since from 2007 and some articles say this could be far as the 90s…
I love PAC but he was dead wrong at the end. I just looked it up and like half they roster is black. I think I counted 30 black players 😂 Tbh I can’t even see how any D1 football program could survive without black players lol
I mean look at how many other rosters are probably majority black... I mean most nfl rosters are majority black I think aren't they?
I went from a baby to an adult in 17 years, and he supposedly didn't know this was happening in the same time frame.
That’s why it’s so unbelievable that he said he had no idea it was happening. He runs the program, and he is in that locker room every day, so of course he knew about it.
These news reports first began way back in the late 70's and early 80's.
Both former & current players have corroborated the allegations! So did the independent investigation that submitted the report to the president!
What the hell am I gonna do for the next 2 weeks ?
WTF is a naked slingshot? 😮
I think Fitzgerald is lying when he said that he had no idea. Like there was definitely a couple people that told him or the coaching staff. If you’re presenting yourself as a “player’s coach”, a guy that any of your player can go to for guidance or help, then you should have been aware a while ago. And if you weren’t, then maybe you’re not as much of a players coach as you thought. But considering how long he’s been there he definitely had of known something happened
Look into Lake Zurich, Illinois football team
Team rituals and traditions are one thing. Hazing and abuse is another. Shouldn’t be accepted
New york Yankees don't allow long hair or facial hair... That's not racist
He said the white guys didn’t have to do it so that’s racist IF it’s true.
Facial hair is only really holds any significance in the amish, jewish or muslim communities. I don't see any of those people playing baseball for the Yankees.
They say their are 10 players that confirmed this report.
I love Pacman, but he has not figured out the timing of the "WHAT" yet.
Northwestern football as a whole gives football a terrible name
Pat: Allegedly
Pacman: wut
😂😂 Pacman adding what's into entirely inappropriate times or incorrectly is better than when it's done correctly
Plot Twist: he IS doing it correctly lol
@@mazsax999 yeah? I don't think so. I thought it was following Stone Cold when he did it. Never heard it after "allegedly".
@@Cosa__ If it gets a pop, it's done correctly.
I admit that I've not been on the inside of football teams above the high school level, intentionally and that was decades ago. The coaches of my high school were drunkard dirt bags and I wanted nothing to do with them and they cultivated players that were dirt bags. I've met a few decent football players and coaches (not talking talent wise but as good people) but the majority of football players and coaches I've met personally and had any amount of contact with were at the bottom of their souls basically bullies. That doesn't mean the majority of players and coaches are scum just because the majority of those I've met are. To the question of why you haven't heard it before now. A lot of bullies are careful in their choices of victim, isolate and mentally break down their prey and manage to convince their victims that no one would believe them as well as let's face it, how 'manly' is it to be the guy complaining about being bullied? How many of the victims were subject to the threat of their scholarships being pulled if they bitched about it? How many could afford to go somewhere else if they quit the team? How many of the players seeing this behavior were pressured into participating to be equally guilty of it to keep them quiet.
You probably rode the bench haha

Most homophobes have some closet in them.
I strictly live for Pac’s inappropriately timed “what”s during a serious topic
There was also though, a guy who’s not white who said in his time with the northwestern football program there was no racism
“They never won” he won big ten COTY, led them to multiple big ten championship games, 2020 they finished top 10, he had a winning career record with northwestern, etc. All this with the fact that northwestern has a losing all time record, had only made 7 bowl games when he took over he led them to 9 so they now they’ve made 16, etc. So what basically what he did there was really good considering, and it’s definitely not that they didn’t win with him.(their best HC in history)
I can’t believe how two tone pat is. Glad your getting some sun and enjoying live.
Honestly he's like three or four different colors
Need to set the parameters of Hazing… colleges say it as “anything that you’re told to do not of your free will” but Fr getting told to carry extra gear, shag, tell jokes in a stretch circle, rookie dinners, or an example like Shannon Sharpe as a rookie at camp. As long as it’s nothing degrading (hazing was definitely happening there) and done in good faith then it can bring guys together. I think if there was a better distinction on what’s appropriate vs crossing the line it wouldn’t be such a problem
To say Pat knew i think is a bit too far.
College kids dont show adults everything. They have a lot of time to figure out ways to hide it from the adults. I havent heard anyone claim they told Pat Fitz about it
PAC Man up his level when they mention cutting of the hair.
