JJ secured a 4 year bag, dude is smart getting into the Bron circle.
LeBron does not let just anyone into his circle, LeBron has a great basketball intellect, and if someone is not able to discuss basketball at the highest level with him, then they are not getting into the circle.
@@StevenC32 let Shannon and nick in to that circle. If that's want you want to call it
@@DonHo-wi7tw Neither of them are qualified to be in that inner circle, because they don't have the elite basketball knowledge of LeBron James. LeBron surrounds himself with people with a high basketball IQ.

@@helolo4354 yeah i am done with these old heads. Need a competitive, hard working, intelligent guy who is obsessed with the game and can implement a modern offensive system. Spo, Mazula, Kerr were all inexperienced when they took the helm. Need new ideas not the same old retreads. One thing i am sure of is JJ would be working his ass off, thinking late into the night on how to improve the offensive and defensive schemes, obsessively studying the film. He just needs a couple of experienced voices in his staff to handle tricky locker room situations where he can lean on their experience. Ham was clueless and incompetent, JJ's competitive and obsessive nature wouldnt allow him to just stand around with hands in pockets. It wouldn't surprise me if reports came in that JJ went on a 2 week mountain cabin retreat before training camp to learn Hurley's Uconn offensive schemes and bball philosophy, studying film all day and night, lakers need that kind of personality and mindset. He does a great thing in marketing. We call it branding. Now it's his time to prove it. And I wish him success as a coach.
He’s gonna kill it…pelinka has to do his part and get some actual 3&D players and a backup big (Boston and Toronto wanted him as a assistant couple years ago but he turned it down) this isn’t some scrub
For the laker fans, kill it means championship, nothing else
And with how the roster is right now, I don't think they can even get to the second round. I can only see minor imporvement with their assets, how is the cap for the lakers rn?

Was this the actual job interview?
just imagine all the coaches who grinded starting in high school winning multiple championships, went to a small college built up the program to get noticed enough for the nba, they start at bottom and worked their way up to assistant hc..
then u got jj who plays, retires and talks and gets one of the 30 hc jobs in thenba with ZERO experience

Regardless of how this turns out, he surely has to be better than Darwin Ham and that's good enough for me.
So to do that JJ has to make the WCF first and thats not happening sorry to tell you. The Lakers will be lucky to make the playoffs
This will be a funny season... Go from bros to foes before All-Star break

I’ll adapt from player to coach salary pretty good
Lets goooo JJ fuck everyone else u get this maybe not this year to win it but 2nd year and u will do good this year if we have the right pieces
I like it. LeBron at age 41 still trading the future for his old players he wants and his son gets on the team playing good defense scoring 5 points a game. And if it doesn't work LeGM just hires another coach for the team at age 42.
In other words he’s gonna let the “prisoners run the jail”
Wishing him the best but coaching is very different to playing or analysing plus the bright lights of LA will be shining down on him and the team which will bring added pressure.
When he said Bird is a not-great 3-Point shooter he lost all respect at that moment.
@jakerudy7821 Obviously you have never seen larry in person. Larry made three crucial three point shots to win nba championship In game seven. Larry won the three point shooting contest. If three point shots were the way the game was played then, like it is now, Larry would be nailing 3's all game long. This guy was the 3 point champion in the contest. That shows who is the best three point shooter in the league. If there's anything this guy did not care about was the percentage of his career threes. He's a three time mvp of the league. When he was at his best he was the most clutch shooter in the entire league. J j reddick Is basically a scrub compared to larry bird.
Imo, he might be better off as a player development, mentor, or start off as an assistant first & then work his way up. I think dude is too soft. I liked listening to his podcast, if you look back at his podcast career, as soon as one of his takes receives backlash, he'll come back on the next show to apologize & retract his statements. He doesn't have the backbone to stand down on what he said, so imagine him being that way once a player or multiple players opposes his Coaching, he's just going to be a "Yes" man then. We'll see though.
@@aciv132 "from in a few videos"

I don't think you're wrong with this take. Only time will tell but I definitely see what you're saying
What you just described is someone being open to being wrong, re-evaluating their logic, and coming to the conclusion they may have overlooked info. That's called being a mature adult.
Refusing to acknowledge ever being wrong and illogically standing your ground is the mentality of small children. People like this never improve because they already think everything they do is right.
If something isn't working, having a coach that thinks they're never wrong is that worst possible scenario.
I think he has the potential to be a really great coach. I hope he has a lot of roster input, because Pelinka and the rest of the front office have been horrible after they won the championship in 2020.
