A compilation of small background details that I've noticed from the many times I've watched it, making my other videos, and from things pointed out by the community. I was surprised at just how many more I found while making this video as well. The amount of detail put into this show is just amazing. Even with basically going through the episode with a fine tooth comb I'm sure I missed more than a few details. Please share any that you noticed in the comments and let me know if I should continue with this line of videos. Thanks for watching.

So Frenchie was so invested in the idea of a cat flag that he made 2 of them? I love him your honour
I know its so sweet! I imagine after they used the cat flag as a decoy the crew all just let him make a new one as it was only fair
I also noticed how in this episode the plant isn't looking too good but in episode 9 when they demonstrate that stede is a real pirate the plant looks to be in good health. :)

As buttons is about to start talking about the mutiny you can see Black Pete doing wild stabbing motions in the background as he is talking to the rest of the crew about killing Stede XD
I noticed that too, it seems a lot of details I decided not to add because I didn't think they would be easily missed I should have added anyway lol. I plan to add them in the next one
I always wondered how they found the perfect boy to play young stede - soft, sweet, and similar enough to Rhys that it was believable. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was Rhys’ actual son!
I thought he was such a talent, too!! And there you go
When everyone is getting dressed up in Stede's cabin, Wee John is playing on the harpsichord/piano thingy! It's just a really cute easily missed detail hehe

And yes!! There needs to be more videos on the background details! The OFMD cast are so entertaining and are always doing something in the background. Even tho its only 10 episodes long, it’s these details that makes rewatching this show so fun
a tiny thing that i love is, when they're all getting dressed, lucius makes an oumf sound as he shoves the cravat in his mouth
adding that to my next video.

Oooh!! One of my favorites is that, when Stede is showing Badminton the library and all that, there are pictures (or drawings, whatever) of Alma and Louis on the mantle :) both precious and heartbreaking

I'm on my 9th rewatch and I've finally noticed that Stede is wearing an entirely different outfit while he and Lucius are touring the ship's rooms. XD
When buttons tells Stede about the mutiny Lucius gives an annoyed sigh that he told him 😂

I noticed the "goodness nose" on my second re-watch of the series, and it cracked me up.
I LOVE these! I’ve watched the show five times now (yes, every episode) and I watch favorite scenes a lot too. The kisses, Lucius and Izzy in ep 5, Edward/Stede at the end of ep 5. Anyway, there are a lot of things I’ve missed, and I would love to have one of these for each episode of OFMD. I will subscribe to make sure I don’t miss any new ones.
Honestly I've lost count of how many times I've watched the entire show and even with going nearly frame by frame I still miss shit.
Yeah so I'm gonna be needing one of these for every episode. I didn't make any requests when you put that offer out there so now I'm requesting nine ;-) Seriously though, there were so many details that, even in the googolplex times I've watched every episode, I didn't catch!

the "sewing glove" is actually a "sailmaker's palm," if anyone wants to look that up! (I suspect if you knew to include it in the details here you who made the video know that already :) )
Actually I've never heard of a sail maker's palm. When I was looking it up the only thing I could think of was sewing glove and that gave very limited results. Honestly, thanks for pointing it out I was curious what it was actually called.

Absolutely brilliant! Love this. Though the vomit skull flag is Roach, not Black Pete (if you watch the sewing scene VERY carefully, you can see Roach holding that flag). I wonder what Pete's flag is...? Oluwande made the 'flag extender'! :D

The thing at 1:07 looks more like a spittoon than a chamber pot to me. Historically, it *shouldn't* be a spittoon, as that was more of a Wild West thing, but the shape, the material, and the placement of it (a chamber pot would typically be under or up against the bed, that is to say, discreetly hidden) are more likely for a spittoon than a chamber pot. I'm guessing someone just saw it in an antique shop and though "ooh, that looks old timey!"
I mean, of course, it's perfectly possible to piss into a spittoon though, so in the end, what even is a chamber pot?
Lol I thought the same thing but after a lot of research chamber pots had the same shape and material as the one shown in the show, especially in that era. And tbh I wouldn't be surprised if the set designers put it there for laughs

This is absolutely amazing!!! I feel like Roach has a lot of throwaway lines that get lost in the ether so it’s nice to see stuff like that brought to light!! Adds to the comedy really 😂💖✨

In the scene where the British are making fun of the flags, are Black Pete and the Swede defensive because it's their flags being judged?
yes, and when they make fun of the button one Lucius looks extra sick because it's his flag

Just clarifying, that was actually a mistake on my part. The button flag is Roach's. But the other two are Pete and Swede's

Love all this! However what you've got labeled as a chamber pot isn't. It's probably an anachronism. Chamber pots were always ceramic; copper and its alloys would turn shocking blue and eventually eat through if you kept peeing in them.

So after a quick Google aristocracy would have chamber pots in a variety of metals including copper, brass, all the way to gold.
