My parents retired in Fairview in 1977, and lived there for 33 years. They loved it. It was affordable when the tunnel was the only way to get to Asheville.

I visit North Carolina at least 4 times a year. May I ask why you would give up your beauty for NC? I visited Colorado a few years ago and fell in the love with those mountains.
@@stefonthemoveexactly! WNC is crappy compared to the mountains of Colorado. I have no clue why people are coming here from there. Actually I do know why. All of these realtors and the like heavily promoting this area and it sucks. It is nice here but not compared to the Rockies. It doesn’t even snow here anymore 🙄
We’ve been to Asheville and it is terrible! And it’s spreading it’s horrible with the crime and the homeless situation. It’s insanely expensive. It is not a well run place in the hospital is horrible too Mission Hospital from what I hear is terrible people don’t like it. It used to be good but not anymore. It was bought by a big private equity firm and all they care about is money. They don’t care about the staff or the patients. We visited a friend who lives near Asheville and we heard all about it and we saw it to eyes as well! The mountains are pretty, but we don’t wanna get robbed or stabbed!!! if you like mountains, maybe look somewhere else.
I was just at Mission hospital and was super impressed. I was surprised but received great care.
