- Switching to 3rd party inks then NEVER do it this way!
There is a Correct way and a WRONG way to switch to any third party ink on your PHOTO printer IF you expect ANY degree of Quality on your future output.

Hi Jose, I can feel your pasión to help and this is why I need to share some of my knowledge with you as we are on the same boat.
I agree in most of your statements but In regards to expired inks I have to say that I agree only in case of waterbase dye inks. I would like to explain what happens so your audience understand better the technical side.
Pigments needs to be suspended in the liquid to guarantee , among others, a consistent color in every drop.
To achieve this additives needs to be added to the formulation. Those additives are responsable to encapsulate every pigment and keep them suspended. Otherwise, due to gravity, pigments will drop and create sedimentation at the botton of the ink reservoir.
Within time, additives brakes, allowing the pigments to drop and to attach one to the other at the bottom creating the following problems:
Inconsistent colors.
Risk of blocking the nozzles in printers without
dampers or filters.
Viscosity variances that create inconsistent fires thru the head.
And the question everybody ask:
Can expired inks demage printheads.? Probably not if the printer is in constant use but definitiveelly expired inks can create problems on prints.
Howdy Jose, looking for education on ink and I found your video. This was very informative. Thank you brother for taking the time out of your holiday to make this video glad I found it.
Jose. You're a genius thank you. I had done exactly what you just warned about, and experienced TERRIBLE skin tones. Faces beet red, contrast all over the place. To be fair I was using the cheapest $20 set of 8 cli 42 I could find, so I really shouldn't be surprised. Subscribed for your honesty!
OEM carts only and good 3rd party inks such as PC42SE inks.
@@cheo1949 I checked out your links, buying oem carts empty is such a strange concept, but it makes sense I suppose! I'll be investing in those soon. Appreciate your unbiased vids!
Happy Thanksgiving Jose! Thank you for taking the time before your holiday festivities to make this clarification. My plan as I switch over to using 3rd party inks from the manufacturer you recommend is (which I just received in the mail a few days ago and I let them know my purchase was because you recommended them) swapping all of the carts out to the 3rd party ink on my Canon Pro-10 and establishing a profile from that. The next time I install the next cart afterwards I’ll go ahead and mix new 3rd party ink with the partial OEM ink carts I still have left and over time between the swaps I just imagine the old OEM will eventually get worked through over time between numerous swaps while I stick with the new established profile. Where I want good quality prints for my artwork, it isn’t crucial to have photo-realistic printing quality so I expect this procedure to be sufficient- crossing my fingers! Thank you again Jose and enjoy your family and friends during this holiday season! 👍🏼
I felt like you drank a glass of ink at first.
Jose, thanks so much for you videos, and all the work and you do. I just purchased a Epson XP-970 printer and want to buy ink for refill cartridges. Where do i buy the ink, and will this cause my printer to quit working sooner? I hope that you are still doing these videos?
Now if there was only a GoTo supplier known to be high quality and sold specific inks for the various printer models.

Hi Josè, happy Thanksgiving. Just checking did the Pgi-72 carts arrive safely? Stephen :)
Indeed they did! Thank you SO very much!
@@cheo1949 my pleasure :)
What kind of Ink provider do you recommend for a Canon Pro 100? Thank you.
Merry Christmas!
I love your videos. I am a noobie and learned a lot from your channel. I ordered some Precision Inks for my Canon Pro100 like you suggested. Is it necessary to flush out the OEM carts before I fill them up with the Precision inks? I know I should with 3rd party carts, but I am not sure about OEM ones.
Only the Yellow should be flushed with Windex with ammonia. If you order from PC you will get a replacement cart for the YELLOW. You will remove the chip and replace it with the one from YOUR OEM Yellow cart.
Happy Thanksgiving Señor Rodriguez.,Thanks for the info as usual!!
Thank you sir! And the same to you and yours!
,,,great advise...I just started using the cheapest replacement cartridges I could find on-line for my Walmart Canon Pixma MG5420 printer...let's see what happens...
Go too cheap and you can kiss your printer ( Print Head ) Goodbye!
Thank you for your very informative video. I'm in the market fora new printer that is capable of printing on heavy cardstock and not necessarily for printing photos. My interest has been peaked by the Canon Pixma Ts9521c, but their oem cartridges are extremely expensive. Would you suggest (if I'm looking at using a third party ink manufacturer) to just install those cartridges right from the beginning and not even install the starter Canon ones provided? Thank You
Thanks for the info. I have a brother mfc-j870dw inkjet printer and I recently switched ink. Unfortunately I went with one of those Amazon stores and got some. Although it had great reviews the outcome for me sucked! Any suggestions on a premium quality third party ink provider?
Sorry but I have zero experience with Brother. I only know Canon and EPSON PRO Photo printers.
Great advice
Thank you Jose!
You are welcome!
Which Pre-filled ink cartridges do you recommend for my pixma pro 100, I’ve been looking at Amazon, but there’s too many to decide.
What do you think about LD ink?
Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for making this video!!!!
You are already doing everything I would do. If that magenta channel is still not flowing then it could be something serious.
@@cheo1949 Oh man. Okay. I am reading in another forum that this magenta ink can turn into gel, so I am going to try the piezo flush with refillable carts before I do anything else that's drastic. Cross your fingers!
Putting cheap 3rd party inks in a high end photo printer is like putting Walmart Oil in a Ferrari. 😋
Couldn't have stated it better.
anybody know a good source for canon image prograf printer ink? pfi-120 cartridges
Thank you so much! What are the refillable ink brands you'd recommend for epson ultrachrome printers?
If you live in the USA the very best 3rd party Ultrachrome k3 inks are from www.Inkjetmall.com
Hi, Thank you for your videos.
In one of the videos regarding the Pro100 you said something about the yellow cartridge, that the yellow can not be modified. I can't find that video but is this still true? Do I have to buy a new cartridge from PC and modify the chip? Why was it that the yellow cannot be used?
Thank you.
You can but it needs to be expertly flushed to remove all traces of original yellow ink which with adversely react with ANY third party yellow dye ink for the PRO-100. Best option is to use the spare pre modified and flushed cart that is provided with your refill kit from Precisioncolors. You will however need to swap the ORIGINAL YELLOW chip to the replacement cart. WHY? Because it is a CLI-8 which is identical in body but not in chip.
@@cheo1949 Hi Jose,
Thank you so much.
When you buy expensive printer : You buy expensive inks. Proper printing is expensive. End of story.
having the photos printed for you is the way to go cheaper and better quality.
I print my own at a very low cost everything oem and surpass what a private lab can provide. In just one try.
To be honest all those printers are terrible. Most of them can not give you good result and even when they can - they cost fortune. Printing in lab is damn much cheaper than using home printer. Plus goddam manufacturers wanna you be their slaves and buy their super pricey cartridges. They even add chips to NOT LET YOU use third party cartridges or inks. That's why I would avoid buying inkjet printer at any cost. If you have to print some text - use laser printers. For color printings - use labs. It is cheaper and quality guaranteed.
Does this also apply to Mega tank ink?
Of course.
