ABOUT ME:
- I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
- I was born in November of 1983 (so I'll be 37 this year) and raised in Houston, although my heart lays in between Houston and Hawaii.
- "OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since. Also! Just to be clear: me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" doesn't mean that anyone who's listened to kpop later than me is inferior. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time.đ
- I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
-My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.

They just evolved their cutesy-sweet kinda concept last year into a more mature and elegance concept
sonically it's been a bit more of a gradual change than that, but most people really noticed the change starting during the fancy era since that was when the visuals sharply switched away from cute.
I like that, mature and *Elegant* concept and not those mainstream *Edgy* badass concept đđ

@@junichi8369 i'd be in agreement. as far as japanese releases go, BDZ was also a point where they experimented with their image (though not yet their sound) as a way of feeling things out safely.

Twice probably has the best GG dance line and theyâre very synchronized
Just a brief history here:
Genre: started off with girl crush/teen in their debut, changed it in the next comeback with Cheer Up to bubblegum pop, which got famous and eventually became their signature sound. Up until last year with Fancy where their style is much more mature sounding and is now their current sound in their title tracks
Dance: their debut was strong, but like stated before, their bubblegum pop was their famed style. Unfortunately that decreased a lot of their dancing in their 1st comeback with Cheer Up, which led to them getting criticism to their simplistic choreo. After a few comebacks with the 'simple' choreo, probably their dance game stepped up a lot with Dance the Night Away in 2018. Since then their dance has been super high-energy without sacrificing their signature sound with the bubblegum pop, up till Fancy
Vocals: they were also criticized early on for their vocals. At the start, it was mainly Jihyo and Nayeon who carried the group's vocals, with Jeongyeon serving as a good second. This was probably mainly due to the fact most of their ranges were lower than the title tracks they were given, the higher-pitched bubblegum pop sound from the earlier Twice sound. They got further criticism, in combination with their 'simple choreo' using the MR removed videos why they couldn't serve a simple vocal line with the simple dance. After that, Twice eventually showed to have improve their skills, most especially to handle the higher range from their title tracks. Though recently their songs are getting to a more comfortable range as their sound is becoming mature.
Hope this insight is helpful, I was a hard-core Once, not anymore but I do still keep track of these girls. They really are underrated for their skills, which does get overseen behind their initial rise due to the 'younger, bubblegum, cutesy' Twice sound
Imo, twice is not my current ult, but I'd put them at the top to being the most fittest among the girl groups. Besides their high-energy dance, their synchronicity and the fact they almost never stop moving throughout the song, the way they sing is simply exhausting. Their dance doesn't give them enough time to breath, not exhaustingly, but not enough to sing. And if y'all listen closely, they're not simply singing the line, you can actually hear the flavor of the way they sing, and that can be exhausting to execute the same multiple times similarly, and no less while dancing
the "easy" choreo always gets me because I have *never* seen a twice dance cover with full 9 members be as good as them even idols who tries to cover them has little details that they don't do and not as good as twice. link me any twice dance covers and there's always gonna be something wrong there.

The thingfor me about twice is the growth of the group musically. They started off kinda girly and bubbly but over the years their sound has grew so much. Since your a og multi Stan like me, the best comparison would be that twice is basically the new generation Snsd. Musically kpop is in a amazing place as of the last few years because of all the diversity. You want bubble gum pop? It's there, girly? it's there. Girl crush? Yup. Kpop nowadays compared to 10+ years ago is sooooo much different... You should check out gfriend mago dance practice. They actually perform half the song blindfolded .
One thing we don't have as much of is the quirky stuff like "Catallena" or "Bar Bar Bar". That's why I loved "Hmph!" by WJSN Chocome and "Banana Allergy Monkey" by Oh My Girl Banhana.

I resisted Twice for so long because Iâm not into cutesy/aegyo concepts, but they have totally won me over, now they are one of my favourite groups. The members are so talented, their songs are so fun/catchy and they are incredibly humble and hardworking. They have moved into a more mature concept over the past year and they are pushing themselves musically which is really fun to watch. Going back and watching their survival show Sixteen made me totally fall in love with them too!
They are all GROWNS UP :D Twice is the BIGGEST GG in kpop! They literally have the most albums sales and MV views. When they debut, they were bubble-gum, but the last 4 comebacks, their sound and look has definitely matured.

If youâd like to check out more of twice or some of older twice music Iâd recommend What Is Love. I donât usually like bubblegum pop but itâs really iconic and the dance is one of my fav choreographies in kpop just because imo it fits the song perfectly
their music has evolved last year! their old ones had cute concepts but they are starting to change it now. you should also react to their dance practice! they are so synchronized!

Twiceâs recent music since Fancy defies categorization. Iâm not really a bubblegum pop fan either but thereâs something about Twice. I love all their stuff.
Twice are like bunch of babies and little kids - they exude cute at whatever they do naturally. It is why they are so likeable and tolerable vs most other girl group cute concept attempts because for Twice it is natural, not forced. They are just gradually maturing as they grow up and cute has become more of an undertone and other aspects of their personalities and musicality is showing through.
Commenting after rewatching this video 8 months later. Itâs been fun following you as I also started watching Twice with I canât stop me, and have been watching their and your stuff since. Keep up the great work.
As a hardcore ONCE I am glad you found this song as it is one of their BEST TITLE TRACKS

The concept of TWICE is they charm you twice with amazing visuals + dancing and ear worm kinda songs
Dare I say it they have the most catchiest songs in all KPOP for a GG and already have smashed ton of records accumulating over 8M sales in their short span of 5 years
They started with a TEEN CRUSH/ CUTE concept with LIKE OOH AAH & while the debut was iconic initially it failed to turn eyeballs tho it soon picked up momentum charting over 50 weeks in top 100 in MELON ( Biggest digital platform in Korea)
JYPE made a switch in their concept with the very next cb CHEER UP ( CHEER LEADING / CUTE CONCEPT ) which lead the next revolution for impactful songs for a KPOP GG and shattered records also the only song from a GG to win several big time DAESANGS ( Most Prestigious Awards for a KPOP group ) in their first year of tenure
Rest was history as they say and they smashed several records every year to cement their position as THE TOP GG or THE NATION'S GIRL GROUP
While they started off as CUTE/ INNOCENT image they gradually matured it and dare I say they have one of the most sounding discographies for a GG
People like you initially often put them in a bubble but later they all fall for them as their DISCOGRAPHY is quite solid & diverse
They are solid dancers and are a dance focused group especially MOMO being hauled as one of the BEST FEMALE DANCERS in this current era
While their vocals comparatively is not as strong they still have a competent vocal line consisting of JIHYO, JEONGYEON & NAYEON
I feel TWICE'S evolution of music correlates to an story telling a young woman's love which gradually matures and evolves
I highly recommend you checking them out deeper especially their BSIDES which are like a goldmine in current generation

I really really liked this song!! It took about 2-3 listens to grow on me immensely. Not to mention Iâve been randomly dancing the choreo whenever I see a mirror đđ Their other mv that released more recently, Better, I actually ended up liking more tho lol. I thought the fits and choreo were so cute plus the production on the song was chefs kiss and all my girls shined!! I recommend that mv from them as well to check out :) other great songs are feel special (my favorite song from them), likey and fancy!!

Noticing you're going from latest to older songs for Twice. They started with bubblegum pop before they changed into mature concepts. I Can't Stop Me is their fourth single into this new Twice (Fancy, I Feel Special, and More & More being the first three consecutively). Before that was Yes or Yes which was their transition. Their singles before that are categorized under bubblegum pop.
That's for their Korean singles.
They have also transitioned to mature concepts in their Japanese singles. They started with Breakthrough (2019 single) in this new Twice which I recommend!

I have been watching reactors for a while and would (as a general older Kpop stan) just like to say how much I appreciate the simple effort you put into looking into the groups/soloists that you react to instead of just asking your viewers to "comment down below" or "tell me more below" despite having reacted multiple times to the same group! I love hearing your perspective on being an OG kpop stan. I "stanned" G.O.D growing up, and have always gravitated towards JYP artists because of it. I didn't know what to think of Twice in their early years, but 5 years later I still check out every single one of their comebacks and can consider myself as a stan =)

I am definitely in agreement with you on refraining from saying something "sucks" or is "bad." Everyone has their own personal taste(s). Keyboard warriors have never shed blood, sweat and tears creating music and videos for us to enjoy. If you don't like it, move on. As for suggestions, I would recommend "Feel Special" by Twice. Also, I've always had a soft spot for "Likey." May I suggest a "Throw Back Thursday" for older Kpop songs?

Twice fans are called âOnceâ by the way :) And this video is only about a year old so itâs pretty recent. It does a little overview of kpop, the journey of twices career so far, and an introduction to each member (and itâs only like 12 minutes long so thatâs nice)
