- The hunger plan to starve the population of the Soviet Union is part oft he inhuman strategie of the Nazi politics.
Herbert Backe is State Secretary in the Reich Ministry of Food and Agriculture. A typical younger Nazi achiever. This ideological fanatic and political pragmatist is partly responsible for the starvation of the Soviet Union. At the top of his agenda is nothing less than the plan to murder millions of people in the Soviet Union by starvation.
The starvation plan is to be implemented immediately after the Wehrmacht invents the Soviet Union. Grain will be stolen from the Soviet Union to feed the Wehrmacht and transported back to the Reich. Millions of people in the Soviet Union will die of starvation.
A militarily planned starvation and a quick victory over the Soviet Union. But the starvation plan is only one part of an inhuman strategy.

Very good documentary. As a Brit in their early 'sixties, I remember a time in the 1970s (Granada's The World at War) when these terrible images were uncensored. Why does Google think we should not see them?
And who could forget that powerful theme tune.

I agree. I’ve been studying WW1 and WW2 for 30 years and I never heard of that man either. I also never heard of the Communist from NYC, William Bailey, that cut down the swastika and threw it in the Hudson River. This is a quality series of documentation.

I don't like it that some scenes are blurred out. Everything should be shown. I don't care for censorship.

Excellent work, but blurring the photos is off-putting. The subject is genocide. If you hide it, you detract from it. What was done was horrible. People should see it to know it happened. If they want to look away, they can. The rest of us need to bear witness, distasteful as that history might be.

Yes true love will push people to do extreme things for the ones they love , this case was a enigma in German WW11 years there was tons of love cases like it but they was arrested and sent to the war front lines and the women sent to concentration camps.

Once again, we are faced with a group of old men with dreams of global domination and the means to carry it out. I am speaking of the WEF, who don't have the banners and trappings of the Nazis, but have the desire to micro-manage humanity and drastically reduce the human population. They also want to "manage" us using hunger as a tool to force compliance with their dystopian vision.
As if the Hunger plan and the starving of millions of Soviet POWs was just a minute thing. Yes the Holocaust was insanity and stands apart in the long list of human atrocities, but not every WW2 video has to be about it!

the holocaust was ongoing in one form as soon as germany invaded the soviet union. you can't divorce one set of circumstances from the overall circumstances going on at the time

I don't understand why you have to blur dead bodies on CZcams when on cable tv they are shown and have been for decades. Both are relying on advertising. CZcams is just wrong. It's very shocking to children. We've all seen it before, but other, young, people may not have and it can be shocking to see murderous violence. The first time I saw these images, I was about 10, and I couldn't sleep for weeks and had terrible nightmares.

CZcams has an age restriction feature. Certain videos make you confirm you are at least 18 years old. So I don't get why they blur out the things they do. I don't want to see gore, but it's history. You can see death in autopsy videos.

So if the Nazis had a policy of exterminating disabled Germans, what were their policy regarding German soldiers who became disabled from injuries received whilst fighting for their fatherland?
These fought for the cause so the got awarded with an iron crosses and other medals.
The Nazi's exterminated the mentally disabled. The ones that had no notice. A soldier with his arm shot off is still capable to be a normal human being: he still think straight!

It's worth mention that Helmut Machemer won the iron cross first class 4 days before he was killed in action in 1942. His wife and children were saved and survived the war.

"Hiwis" were Soviet prisoners spared to serve as manual laborers and porters. Fighting units made up of anti-Soviet prisoners were something different.

“Blood Lands” by Timothy Snyder Is a great book that goes into how the lands between Germany and Russia were a terrible place to live in those times.

Very disappointing. The 'Hunger Plan' is covered far, far better in the book "The Taste of War", by Lizzie Collingham. Been out for years now, easily available. She covers the food situation not only in the major warring powers, but also in the Axis-occupied territories and in regard to the Jews.

I never read or viewed this detail of the NAZIs plan for the USSR.
I have in pieces, this really zeros in on this aspect in hideous detail.

On purpose or just bad policy, Stalin starved his own people. And a lot of his people who didn’t starve he purged or had thrown in gulags. Stalin was no hero of ww2 by any means the only good things he did was have factories moved and listened to his generals on Sone things which resulted in some victories and ultimately the allies beating the Nazis.
