  • So this a bit of a different one for this channel. No picking things up and putting them down in this one! Jenn an I moved into a new house in July 2020, and wanted to convert one of the rooms into a cigar lounge. BTW get you a girl that wants this to be the first project you undertake in a new house!!
    The room was originally a deck, that was turned into a finished room at some point before we bought the house. The biggest challenge was getting a separate circuit out to the room, since the panel is on the opposite end of the house, being a raised ranch, the basement is finished. I ended up running a short piece of conduit on the outside of the house to the laundry room, and drilled it into the house there, where I wasn't inside a finished wall.
    Overall this was a pretty cool project!! It was pretty straightforward and went fairly smoothly. Anyone who does construction knows fairly smoothly is pretty damn good!! Very happy with how it came out and we have been enjoying it since we completed it!
    Hope you guys enjoy!

    I wish more guys would have videos like these. I'm trying to outfit a room on a budget. It's been tough.

      Yea especially with the price of materials now. I was lucky enough to have the room already built structure wise so I just had to remodel a bit. Let me know if I can help in any way, and good luck!!

      Haha well I am lucky, but this part of the house is separated and sealed off from the rest of the living space. Haven't had any issue with smoke smell in the rest of the house!!

    Do you have to have a way for air to get INTO the room when using the exhaust fan, or is the negative pressure sufficient to remove the smoke?

    • @JustinCzaplicki
      @JustinCzaplicki  Před rokem

      I do not. The fan works very well for getting the smoke out, so I would assume what you're saying about the negative pressure is true. Also I do feel a small "breeze" while sitting near the window with the fan running so I assume the room isn't completely airtight which I'm sure is a factor as well.

    How do you keep the smoke from seeping through the French doors into the house

    • @JustinCzaplicki
      @JustinCzaplicki  Před 2 lety +1

      I bought exterior doors so there is much more weather stripping than there would be if I had purchased normal interior french doors. They seal very tight. I also use smoke eater candles in the room while I'm smoking which work great to absorb the smell and keep it from smelling stale afterwards as well. Hope that helps!

    What was your cigar start up cost to open your cigar bar and lounge?

    • @JustinCzaplicki
      @JustinCzaplicki  Před 2 lety

      This is just a dedicated cigar smoking area in my house, not a business open to the public, if that's what you're thinking. Cost wise to do this wasn't that bad because the room was already built, just had to run wiring for the fan, buy the fan and doors to separate from the rest of the house and paint.

    How quickly does the fan suck out the AC or heat from the room?

    • @JustinCzaplicki
      @JustinCzaplicki  Před rokem +1

      I notice it sucks the heat out faster than the A/C. In the winter I keep the heater set to 55 all the time and when I plan on having a cigar I turn it up at least 30 minutes beforehand to get it comfortable. I also don't run the fan the entire time I'm out there. I'll run it intermittently when it starts to get too smokey. I also use smoke eater candles from smokers outlet that do a fantastic job of keeping the room smelling fresh. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      The exhaust fan is the Quiet Zone 280CFM Bathroom Exhaust fan. I got mine from Home Deopt.

    Where is your make up air coming from? Just opening a window?

    • @JustinCzaplicki
      @JustinCzaplicki  Před 3 lety

      No make up air. Opening a window in the winter time would make it very cold out there!! Haven't had an issues yet. I tend to turn the fan on and off intermittently while I'm out there so it doesn't run the entire time and suck out all the heat from the space heater.
