I live just outside of Houston, its currently 5:32 pm and the storm has subsided. The problem is no longer the Storm, its the lack of power and the rising Temps. There is a lot of fallen trees and debris, but the flooding has mostly subsided and I haven't seen any rain since this morning. Seemingly not too bad for those wondering
that's the true problem.. no power
Gotta have a generator and gas if you want to survive the heat that's coming. You can find one on marketplace for around $200-$300
ditto 😢
I would think a significant part of the population in Houston, would have generators by now. The constant of flooding there never stops.
The problem is centerpoint forced retired veterans of storms. Unprepared babes at the helm. Obviously.
you can shelter at joel’s “church”
🤣🤪🤪
There’s a 1k admission price per person !
😂😂😂
I was there in 08 and 17
😆
Actually 2 deaths. 😢 It was down graded but winds were horrible. 🙏🏽 We have no power since 5am this morning.
Vote for Abbott again. Maybe someday he'll do something about the 3rd world power grid in Texas. Maybe!
@@Sonofspam64actually many 3rd world countries have better readiness to withstand severe storms…,unlike the is city…

Look at those people trying to get out of those high interest car payments… 😆
Insurance ain't covering that
I been up since 2a.m. this Monday morning! Started getting bad at 2:45a.m. for me in Houston Texas, but I'm safe Thank God ! Some of my neighbors their Apts got torn down bad! No power since 5a.m. Just help your neighbors in need and help one another!
People stay home please.....🙏✨
@@-7002. Normally the governor issues warnings and people either prepare or evacuate....that didn't happen here....
Lived in Houston during hurricane Carla and because the transformer outside my house was down it took 2 weeks to restore power. Like camping out for 2 weeks
Caused tornadoes across East Texas, had to bail from the house earlier. Wind gusts around 70-90mph. Hearing the tornado sirens from miles away through the storm was eree.
Stay safe people..I can only emagine the experience for those who felt beryl at Cat 4🙏🙏
is a real shame when the power lines should've been placed underground years ago and loss of power wouldn't happen
Biden passed an infrastructure bill. maybe he forgot.
Here’s to you who don’t under powerlines 🤦♂️
@@glenndarling738 im 50 years old and have lived everywhere and never seen a place that didn't have power poles with lines above ground.
@@USMC0311-jz5gy you mean the bill that did nothing but spend money?
@@USMC0311-jz5gy yes sir.
I hop power doesn’t stay out for too long there. But it IS Texas grid…
@SigFigNewton Texas grid is fine. People lose power in every area where hurricanes hit. Nothing new here
It is an issue with the Texas grid because all others are connected so when some area loses power, others fill in the gaps. Texas' disconnected lone grid doesn't get help because Texas governor doesn't want it to. They've invited us to join the grid. Blame Abbott.
Huh. Everything is better in a Republican state
When the lines are down it isn't anything you can do but them back up what does this have to do with the power grid @@vivianatrevino6212
@@vivianatrevino6212actually, blame Rick Perry. We had an ice storm in 2011 that should have been enough to want to protect the grid from another ice storm. Abbott was the attorney general, so it’s not like he wasn’t aware of the issues. You could also blame George W Bush because that’s when Texas electricity was deregulated. You could also blame the actual hurricane itself, since even in blue states, when those hit, they lose power. …it’s just not for long. Couple days. Right now, it’s not about generating enough electricity, like what happened in 2021. The problem is actually about getting power to those homes with down lines.
So really, I blame the storm for the downed lines. I blame republican officials for 2021.
Beryl is a serial killer and shouldnt be taken for granted.
Sure, but it’s the type of serial killer that Texans are taught to downplay, not the type that Texans are taught to obsess over
Who in their right minds would obsess over something so destructive.
People purchase a generator for your home. If you can afford expensive rims , cigarettes, drugs, alcohol and non essential you can afford a 10k generator to maintain a home. Renters I understand your situation but homeowners should be better equipped for any emergencies. Think people 🇺🇸
We rent and have one. It's not hooked up to the house, but it's keeping the fridge cold & running fans, chargers & small devices. We were able to pay cash, but we also didn't suffer economically over the last few years like many have. So I empathize and don't automatically assume most are mismanaging money rather than truly not being able to afford to prepare.
solar "generators" are relatively cheap these days. Just having a stand alone (without solar panels) will allow keeping the refrigerator powered and also ability to charge phones, batteries for lights, etc.
🙏 praying for the people in the path of this storm

Try to go to mars but can not control natural disasters 😂
That’s why they need power?
Didn’t. This happen with a winter storm too?
The Texas Grid sounds sketchy to me 😮❤

anytime there are high winds power lines are going to be broken, should be considered common sense by now.
Texas has been being hit hard lately
it's time to relocate the city of Houston!
Now check on Ted Cruz 😂

I can see why that tree fell over... huge top hat wasn't trimmed out, shallow root system. Recipe for disaster. Meanwhile the canopy cover next to the tree is just fine.
Cat. 1. Rain causing flooding in very very flat Texas is worst problem. Power lines down other big problem. Media overhyping as usual.

@@Just-Human - Trump always helps with used toilet paper.
It’s no big deal period
Weak storm, Texas power grid was even weaker.
Let’s get Joey on this. 😂
He already did with the infrastructure bill that Republicans didn’t want. Texas wants their own power grid so now they can deal with it.
As a Texas native, I’ve longed for the time when we would start to bury our electric grid, like most of Europe. Instead of dealing with power outages all the time. The technology is there, yet just like most of our policy’s- it’s outdated. Oklahoma is getting the Ten Commandments back on school building and prayer in schools… talk about going backwards.
Oklahoma is going forward buddy
Google how much it costs to bury power lines and ask if you would like to pay for it.
It's a problem in many Texas cities where the water table can literally be 6 inches below the surface at times.
I'm not kidding. I live in Houston and during good rain times, I've dug one foot hole and it filled with water at the bottom.
I have been preaching this for years. Greed is in the way.
They will somehow blame Trump and Ted for this.
Where's the Governor? Why have they said nothing, issued warnings to the people and asked for aid to help the more than 2 million people without power is this disaster!?
Governor????? Its a local Houston issue !!!!!!!!!!!

No gas stations open for miles. Natural gas generators shutting down from line issues and demand. People w/ solar and an EV l learned when the power went out in Dallas for a week recently are the only ones that would survive in a long-term widespread blackout. lt was like ww3 in Dallas. l feel for them in Houston. l had neighbors at my house all week charging various items. Even one woman that had said my solar panels were 'tacky and ugly' charged her husband's hearing aids at my house.
Main reason why I’m going off grid. Going with solar and eventually an EV. Of course I’ll still have my gas trucks.

Wish they'd secede and save us from constantly bailing them out with fed funds.
Are you talking about California and all the fires they have every year, or the mudslides on their coast? Or Louisiana, that gets hammered by more hurricanes than Texas does, even though their coastline is half the length? Here's a newsflash for you: A lot of Texas cities don't trust FEMA to do anything. We do it ourselves. Thanks for your concern for human beings, even if they live in a state you seem to hate.
@@shawnheidingsfelder8179exactly well said👍👍...
Well, at least Texas actually gets less in federal aid than they pay in. It's the only red state that actually contributes something to the treasury. All the other red states are taker welfare cases.

I love how americans always exaggerate everything. Cat 1 hurricanes are pretty common in Europe. we don't barricade everything because our buildings are in general better built (Mostly just rooftiles flying off and some trees), heavy rain as well but it is like 1 day media report in daily evening news, that's it.
Where do hurricanes form in Europe?
I’m not a meteorologist but I am pretty sure you can’t directly compare hurricanes in Europe to North America. I would guess, although homes are timber construction in the US, hurricanes carry far more moisture in North America than in Europe with the Mediterranean climate.
@ceasetheday87 out of curiosity I searched for hurricanes in Europe and there have been 2 in recent years. One in 2005 and in 2020. I literally have no idea what he is talking about. I love how Europeans always try to compare themselves to the USA
