    I just purchased a Bernina 707 Minimatic at the Good Will for $18.00 She is in excellent condition and runs beautifully. Thanks for the videos. I don't see very many red dots as they have disappeared with age. OK...I'll just oil the moving parts.

      Move over Pfaff 1209 Compact...the Minimatic is taking over the sewing table for a time.

    Thanks for the tutorial :) It's my first time oiling my Bernina and I wanted to make sure I did it right.

      I would take bobbin, hook, and needle out and turn by hand. if this works, try putting everything back in again. Also rethread.

    Thank you for this little maintenance tutorial. My machine jammed up mid-strip on an important sewing project and I thought I'd need to take it in but I suspected I just needed to learn how to oil it. I have the manual but I've never done maintenance on my machine. Now it'll be a fairly regular thing.

    I have a different Bernina, a 117K but this helps in getting to more moving parts than those I can see from the top. Thanks for posting this.

    Thank you for this, Thin Man! I have BERNINA Model 708 sewing machine that is slightly different from the 707. I have not been able to acquire an insruction manual for the 708, but the Model 707's manual that I do have will do.

    Thank you for this!! Does this machine can sew thick leather, canvas and those tougher materials? I wanna by Bernina 700, for little leather pieces. Maybe thick suede leather. Thank you for your time. 😊😊

    Thanks so much for this video. My mother bought this model Bernina in 1967 when I was only 12 and she taught me how to sew on it. It still sews beautifully. Only two problems... the light does not work and the reverse lever does not work. Do you know what size light globe it needs and how to get the reverse lever working?

    • @thinmansewing1795
      @thinmansewing1795  Před rokem +1

      It takes a strange lightbulb, I am not sure on the size.
      There is a little lever to the right of the machine, if that is flipped one way, the length lever won't move much.

    I just bought Bernina 530 Record. Your tutorial will be beneficial. Im sewing quite a little (every few months for 10 minutes) because I have no need to fix a lot. Do you think, for a machine which is used only a few dozen hours yearly, would one oiling per year be adequate?

    • @thinmansewing1795
      @thinmansewing1795  Před měsícem

      I think that sounds like enough oiling. if it gets noisy, put a drop of oil on the hook race.

    Thanks very much for the very helpful video! I just oiled a 707 which seems was never oiled before but I still have a problem. The machine slows down in a very consistent manner. Let's say I switch it to the slower gear with the sliding button on the back, press the pedal to max and what I see is a consisten slowing down which coincides with a full rotation of the plastic cam stack gear. Wonder if anybody has any clue what could be causing this.. The slowing down is brief and if I try to rotate the machine manually at the spot where it slows down it's very stiff.

    • @thinmansewing1795
      @thinmansewing1795  Před rokem +1

      It sounds like the cam gear is cracked. This is common. Search for Bernina 707 cam gear.

    • @georgeharizanov6094
      @georgeharizanov6094 Před rokem

      @@thinmansewing1795 Yep, have removed the cam gear and I can see the crack on it. And now it runs smoothly. Also, do you know if it's normal to get a somewhat grunting sound when you run it with the pedal barely pressed and the speed is super slow?

    Hello, I have a Bernina 707 Minimatic and am trying to figure out how to adjust the pressure of the pressure foot. The manual doesn't explain, but I really want to reduce the pressure as I have a few lightweight knit projects I want to tackle. Do you know how to do so? I've searched for an answer elsewhere on the Internet, but have yet to find anything as promising as your videos.

    • @thinmansewing1795
      @thinmansewing1795  Před 4 lety

      Lift the lid off. To the left too of the machine you will see a silver cylinder about 1/2" wide. There is a flat-head screw in there. Loosen it( turn counter clockwise). To tighten the pressure, turn the screw back in a few turns. Hope that helps.

    Hello, you need your advice whether it's worth buying a sewing machine Bernina 707 minimatic for $ 200? The machine is needed for home-made sewing silk, velvet, knitwear, lace, curtain. Check the machine with the mechanic there is no opportunity. The seller says that the machine is working.

    • @thinmansewing1795
      @thinmansewing1795  Před 3 lety

      Berninas are great machines. sometimes they crack gears, so before paying $200 I would want to sew with it. Take a scrap of cloth with you. I think $200 is high, but check ebay, that is what they are selling for.
