On December 12th, 2023, The Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau and Office of Space Commerce hosted a SpaceX post-launch mixer at the Brownsville Event Center.
I love seeing this and I’m very grateful that the city is so supportive. With so much negativity about spaceX but also just in general. I’m so thankful they both acknowledge how that both sides are benefiting from this. I love spaceX and their goals and I think it will make life on earth (and off) better for everyone. Brownsville supporting them, deserves every bit of recognition and support and love from all space enthusiasts. It’s a circle of growth, just like this country. Thank you, people of Brownsville :)
they know there is nothing but good things that can happen from this and it'll bring more focus on education to the entire community in general. It provides so much opportunity for growth of a pretty poor county.
*slow clap forever* Well done! I grew up in Texas and have visited Starbase with my childhood best friend from San Antonio. All of these developments are wonderful. Keep it up, SpaceX.
Thank you so very much for posting this. I've learned so much about Space X and Starship I really wanted to know. I wish SpaceX was more forthcoming with this information in general, because there are millions around the world actively following this project !
I suppose SpaceX could be like NASA: talk incessantly. Spend taxpayer's dollars on high budget glossy videos about what they've done jn the past, who the important people are, how busy they all are.... Or SpaceX can just get on doing the things that NASA'S taxpayer's dollars have never even been able to visualise much less accomplish in time frames NASA would blanch at.
@@weekiely1233 Do you research. When all of NASA down to employees, Air Force, ALL of military industrial complex contractors, Congress, and even Apollo moon lander astronauts oppose giving contracts to Space X in 2008, Kathy was there day in and out to fight these deep-pocketed companies buying off everyone to stop Space X.
@@dphuntsman Kathy joined SpaceX earlier this year. I think you may confuse her with Gwynn Shotwell. She did allllllot for SpaceX in the early years, never take take away from her, but she did not single handedly save SpaceX. That was a groupeffort. But like I said: She was a major player in the early stages of SpaceX... :)
@@dillmon1 true, i should have said "A gateway" . but we are decades away from building massive launch sites on the moon. orbital refuelling and depot's in LEO will be achieved much earlier. In fact with our return to the moon under artemis that infrastructure would be built anyways.
SpaceX is doing good for Brownsville and the entire Rio Grande Valley. South Padre Island and they Valley will only get more popular as launches increase in frequency. Kathy is great!
And of course the first question in the Q&A segment has to be about Gender ? If everybody's focused on the same goals here then why is gender bias the most important subject here ? Save that fir the HR training for those who need it.
Gender, and all the wokeisms, and now all the antisemitism, is the latest method of divide and conquer. Or, divide and manage, in the verbage of Political Scientists! 😡. Too, it's the demon rats way of manipulating and hoodwinking their voting base. 😡😡😡. Lets pray that this all backfires on them, in an epic fashion! 👻🤠🗽💯🙏
This. So much this. It would be amazing and totally worth all the inconvenience just to have Ad Astra take over schooling in the entire district. Oh my god, they'll never allow it! It would be so good that it would make everything else look .... like it is, bad but it's not _so_ bad when there's nothing amazing to compare it to.
@@alfludElon and Ad Astra should start an organization to support Charter schools and homeschooling and support private schools, all across the world. 💯 👻🤠🗽💯🙏
We need trains and some people have to live with the noise and rumblings of them. We have to install bridges and level crossings, build tunnels and stations ... so much inconvenience for the people 'in the way' but where would we be without our trains? I don't mean to be inconsiderate because I'm not, I know all too well what it means to have to deal with something massive and unexpected on my front door, but I also know how in due time the benefits of that project to the community in general were significant and touched almost everyone. Intel built a huge processing facility here in Maynooth, Ireland, which required some folk to even have to sell their land, though, to be honest, most jumped at the offers they'd received. I don't personally care very much that "CPU's benefit the whole world" - I really don't - but I do care that they benefit us here locally and it isn't all about the money either - my people have been educated in the ways of chip manufacturing and _that's_ worth sacrificing for.
Chip manufacturing is a MAJOR choke point in the supply chain, with global security implications!!! Right now, in Arizona, Taiwan Semiconductor is scrambling for qualified personnel, just to build there immense, critical, factory, there. They are, even, having to fly personnel from Taiwan, and have had to delay the opening of the factory, by years!!! With the, upcoming, AI revolution, semiconductors are to be HUGE!!! Maybe Ireland should get in touch with Taiwan Semiconductor. Peace be with you. 👻🤠🗽💯🙏
There is only one female OBGYN here in Brownsville. She will not allow for VBACS. The hospital she is located at has blood on the floor in the hallways and elevator. You pee in a mouth wash cup. Unclean. We need new hospitals and new talented doctors and nurses. This is just the start of the issues with the medical system down here. We need infrastructure asap.

This was a very good presentation thank you Kathy for taking the time. I wish Brownsville many years of productivity and alignment with SpaceX.

Great presentation!
Daphne, you did well in your opening. I'm actually proud of you.
27:37 I think she misspoke, they just landed their 250th booster
Thanks Brownsville for publishing this! Go SpaceX, go TeXas!!!
this was really cool, thank you for everything. i hope the ppl in Brownsville are OK with all of this too. Merry Christmas!

Kathy single handedly saved Space X in its early history!!
Not really

Great talk.
Brownsville: the city next to the Gateway to Mars
The gateway to mars can never feasibly be on earth. It must be on the moon where fuel costs are low and where nuclear rockets can be used.

I've eaten 9 hot dogs today
Were they good?
holy crap
10 come in a pack but the buns come in packs of 8
They weren't hotdogs.

Almost no doctor will allow VBACS.

Have you guys watched the GTA trailer yet?
