- Out for a casual day outside of Red Bluff, CA. Pristine gravel bars, some airplane waterskiing and some grass hill landings added up to a near perfect day of bush flying. Thanks to Jake Bunting for showing us around!

Super work, love the show. Great to see that you are stressing safety and that flying is fun. This is something everyone can do. It just takes a lot of work. Thanks, Trent.
You guys are amazing , I just spent an all night marathon watching yours and others vids on such epic pilots. My heart stopps every time one of you put your wheels in the water...... You got balls. Has anyone flipped doing it?
wow, that looks like SO much fun, that has to be a blast, love the landing and flying off the top of the hill over the cliff!
KitFox should be paying you for this. This is an amazing video and I reaaaaaaaaally want to afford one some day.
Wow, memories! My neighbor used to take me in his Super Cub, out of ranchero airport to fly this same area... I think he's looking down from heaven and smiling at this video just like I am!Awesome video ...THANKS!
Would have loved to be there when someone came upon that grassy hilltop and noticed tire tracks that led off the edge of that cliff. XD
One of the most inspirational bush flying videos I've seen, Keep posting more guys!!!
when you guys just skim the top of the water....as I watch, I get nervous as hell one is going to dip a little deep and flip over...ha.....how in the world do you guys know how to keep it just skimming and not make any sudden wrong movements....every time I see one of you doing that, I get nervous as hell for yall....lol....amazing! love it!
Wow Trent, amazing cinematography as usual. I never realized how much Northern California looks like Australia.
That tail was perfection. Couldn't have done any better. These landings and take-offs were so good I was excited to see them. Thanks for shooting the video of your good day trip above/outside Red Bluff, CA. Peaceful flying!
Wow! We sure are lucky to have such a playground in our backyard! What great camera work, it always makes me think you must do this for a living or something!
Trent flies drones for a living and bush flies for fun. Hope he gets 5 mil subscribers!!
this are the videos we miss !!!
Thank you for your awesome videos! It really makes me dream!! Super nice job!
This was my old stomping grounds... I used to live on a bluff above Clear Creek just southwest of Redding. I had a view over Clear Creek of Mt. Lassen to the east, Mt. Shasta to the north and the whole Shasta Bally Range to the west. Used to rent a Super Cub out of RDD and fly around... but never tried any of this action! Thanks for sharing this one... brought back a LOT of memories.
Awesome, that’s a beautiful area
I live just south of Red Bluff. Beautiful country. Love your videos.
One of the best video indeed!! pure fun!!
You're killing me with these unreal fun vids, Trent. I come out there, you teach me, I do this every day of my life until I die.
awesome video. Happy flying!
Totally mastered those planes. Incredible.
Fascinating flying action. Excellent videography and editing!
I have the opportunity to buy back my old Kitfox IV - 1200 with a 912 engine. I had replaced the original landing gear with a Grove spring gear, and it made it a different machine. Now I wonder what I was thinking of when I sold it. Nice video.
Makes me want to convert my Cessna to a taildragger! Awesome Video!
Always wanted a kitfox. But you make me want a tail dragger kitfox.
Love all the shots.
Loved the video and music!
I have got to fly in same crazy places. Learned in 140, but holy F! That was soooooooooo epic! WOW!!!
You guys are havin toooooo much fun!
The best video I've ever seen, I want to do that one day
Alex Enns come and join us always good fun to share our playground with fellow flyers! But first you better check my video out not as refined as trents! But it's shot in the same area! We like to call it devils playground!
Enjoy! czcams.com/video/G0jx9ngqSWE/video.html
So happy to see airplanes and drones living in peaceful harmony 😍😍
Great video, thanks.
Really enjoyed, nice vid!!!
I’m loving catching up on some of your earlier vids Bud!
This is awesome! I'm in love with this video. I have been wanting to get into aviation but I don't know if I should go with helis or planes, but after watching this video I'm probably gonna go with planes :D
Airplanes are more better anyways
Another great "Flying Edit" that was enjoyable to watch.
very beautiful and wonderful, congratulations
not even sure how I found your channel....stuck in youtube watching things....but sure glad I did...I dont own a plane, I am not a pilot....but I do love planes...and watching your first video I came across, I think I have binge watched every one of yours now...haha.....so cool! thanks, I really enjoy them all......I am your wing man, 100% ..... keep it up bro
Awesome! Thanks Harlan, glad you stumbled upon it and weren’t disappointed 👍🏻
@@TrentonPalmer love it....and I am a rookie drone pilot...DJI Vision +2....basically bought it so I can get aerial views of my garden.....love flying it
Beautiful.
I love watching your videos Trent, and hate that I'm to poor to have the fun you have. Lol
ever since i saw the movie Alaska, I've loved Piper super cubs. :)
What great freedom! Here in germany you can't even land a hang glider in a field without potentially losing your license for that. Nice video work and flying!
Because of Pavlov's law, every time I see Freedom Fox I instantly smile.
Love it, waaaaaay too much fun!
Definitely one of the greatest feelings of the world.
the just experience i've dreamt of
AWESOME AWESOME..............thanks Trent
Now this is why I am getting my PPL in taildraggers.
Very nice landing
Great flying.. Subs.
Good stuff, Trent! I need me a pair of them Phat Tires...
Awesome!
Who on earth would give this a thumbs down???
Batt Mann cridence

Tri-gears
just WOW !!!
Werry wonderful amazing. Its my dream! !!
Wow! What a cool flight. I want a Kitfox. Looks like a blast. Just sub to your channel.
Looks like a good spot to do some shad fishing
I wonder how many KF aircraft your videos have sold. mcBean owes u!
Now, that's what I call flying!
多么自由自在的生活方式。真是很羡慕
I am sure glad that I found your channel! What an absolute blast. About the skiing, I have watched other bush flying videos, mostly Alaska stuff, and it was my understanding that you never want to let the tires spin when skiing. Supposedly it would break surface tension, or some such thing, yet you did not hold your brakes, and the tires rode the surface just fine. What is your take on that Trent?
Hey Trent, do Bush planes benefit from ground effect with skimming water? Great vids, thank you for sharing.
Love your videos. May or may not have picked up a fox for myself. Tell me, off airport flying like this must cause some damage to the skin of your aircraft. How do you take care of what damage pops up?
The fabric is actually very resilient, I haven't had any issues with it yet! I have done a couple tailwheels, and my prop takes a little bit of a beating (just little chips from sand and rocks flying up).
Thats exciting you got a kitfox!!! Hope to fly with you sometime! Post videos!
Ha! Would love to fly with you too! Sad thing is, my aircraft isn't finished yet and I'm in Ohio so it'd be a pretty long trek for me to make it out to California. I'll try to do it once I have a more reliable engine. (I've got a 582. Planning on a Rotax Rick 670)
I would read up on those, I have heard mixed things about the 670. But honestly it would probably be very worth while to save up for even a used 912. The reliability and poweris well worth it, and it will raise the value of your plane too!
Thanks, I've given the 912 serious thought. The only problem for me I that I have a grand rapids eis designed for 2 cycle engines that I'd have to replace if I got the 912. That'd add another few thousand dollars to the price which is the biggest limiting factor for me. I bought the Kitfox to be a good aircraft that I can run relatively inexpensively.
I totally understand on the costs. Its always a trade off. The 2 stroke motors perform incredibly in these things, I just dont have as much faith in the 2 strokes as I do the 4 stroke rotax motors. Get it flying and have fun in it, thats all that matters!
As much as I would like to build a super cub, since it’s the quintessential Alaskan bush plane, I have to say I think I want a Kitfox the payload May be short on the cub by 400ish lbs but Cub-crafters is seriously full of themselves selling a 2 seat kit plane for 2.5-3 times the price of a Kitfox. They are basically the same plane just one is short and fat the other long and skinny. The 150,000 you save with the KF you can put into some awesome upgrades like, certify it IFR, have a glass cockpit, extended baggage, skis and big tires. Besides 400lbs of people and fuel and 400lbs of gear is a ton of gear. That’s me and my dad and all our cold water dive gear with room left for 150lbs of scuba cylinders.
OK, Im comin out there! soon as im done building my electric bushy! LOL
That's nice. :)
Very beautiful !
The cub at 1:55
Why the pilot control he's aircraft from the front seat ?
Solid skip..Solid Skip. Good form
Austin Maness I want to see them do a "triple Lindy". Then we'll know who is King!
Hey Trent I’m am an avid viewer of your channel and somewhat new to aviation I love you videos and hope you see this I volunteer at a fully functional flight museum up in northeast Texas and we are called the Mid America flight museum I am working on my flight hours and waiting FAA approval to solo please come down and visit there are many people that would like to meet you just as much as me please keep on inspiring young av kids like me
This is exactly what aviation should be.
Do you know the property owners where you stop at? I'd say that last place y'all landed at had some bonfire wood already cut up to enjoy! I think I would be hunting for a sandbar with lots of driftwood and have a small chainsaw along for some easy and fun bonfire building! I could see some awesome wilderness campin' 'n partyin'!
How many times have you had an "Incident"? Where do you call home? How much do "extra's" like, STOL tips, etc. lower landing and takeoff speeds, or at least on your craft?
I love the paint scheme on your plane, Trent! is it available from Kitfox Aircraft?
Sweeeet!
Where is the grassy plateau at about 3:30 into the video, and what river is that? Spectacular views.
That’s the Sacramento River and I’m not actually sure of the name of that plateau, I know the guys I fly with call it Devils Playground
Is there an advantage to water ski prior to landing or is more of a "fun" thing? Loving the videos, really considering getting a KitFox myself in a few years once I have all my licenses. Currently doing some amatuer (semi) bush flying in a C152 around Scotland - mostly on short grass strips, nothing off airport as its a rental!
There are some advantages to it, however there are definitely added risks, I’ll be doing a video about that topic at some point soon 👍🏻
Looking forward to the waterskiing video myself. I have a Just Highlander with Tundra Tires. Just got my taildragger endorsement. I have around 600 hours. Looking forward to my first softfield landings. Certainly won't be doing any waterskiing for quite some time, but would still like to hear more of your thinking on flying and STOL techniques.
I haven’t gotten my license yet I’m trying to get the money for training but after that I want to get a Kitfox so I can fly around and have some fun
I wonder how many land owners fields you have torn up like in this video?
Absolutely loved this video. You have another subscriber! Would love to join you for a day like this sometime.
+John K please do! Hope to fly with you some day soon
Thanks! Right now I have a Clip Wing Cub so it's not the best backcountry performer. She's beautiful but I'm working on selling her to get something with a bigger wing, more power and mare baggage space/useful load. I'm thinking of getting a 7GCAA, 7GCBC or 7KCAB Citabria. I'd like to have something that I can still do basic aerobatics in as well as some off-airport flying. Any suggestions? I'm based at Auburn (KAUN). I am LOVING your videos.
+John K, oh cool, I swing down there for breakfast at the airport from time to time. You can do gentleman’s aerobatics in a Kitfox (just search Kyle Franklin’s routine from Oshkosh this year). But they aren’t built for any negative Gs so a Citabria is probably a better bet if you want to do much more than rolls and loops.
Nice! The only issue with the Kitfox is that it's experimental and I like to do some tailwheel instruction. It's too bad that you can't give dual in an experimental! :( To be honest, I've been obsessed with Kitfoxes since I was a kid. I could probably dig up my old Denney Aircraft Kitfox video on VHS. : D I could probably still quote it.
+John K Kitfox Aircraft makes a certified SLSA version that you can instruct in!
I wonder if FelexTape will sponsor my bushplane. Lol
600th like!
How many of those bush landings do you guys go to and walk before you land in them? I can see doing a first time landing based on anothers word of they have landed there previously and you trust their word, but I would be rather unsure just by what I could see on a fly over. That and I know my luck. I would hit that one rock or find that one hole that's grown up with grass.
Now let me start by saying ive logged probably 1000 hrs of flying time from grand theft auto 5 and in my experience when i tried to dip the tires in the water it would nose dive my recently stolen aircraft into the water and id usually blow up or find myself in the middle of an ocean and get eaten by jaws so how easy would it be in the real world for the wheels of your plane to get sucked to far and the plane to do a nose dive or is that even possible
Watch Trent’s videos on waterskiing and why you shouldn’t do it! Then go do it but only when alone!
Trent---are you still doing videos?
He has changed that plane so much, I think He could have had a super cub for the money he has in his kit. Great pilot though.
I could almost have a stock supercub, but I like my plane more than a stock supercub! And I tend to outperform them too (talking Piper SuperCubs not Cubcrafters)
So you want safety thoughts ? In 1982 I flew aero scout training
Missions out of the Monterey .CA.
Military area. One of our motto
Was ALL ROADS HAVE WIRES. I
Was accident free. We flew Bell
Jet rangers. Nap of the earth.
Another Warrant Officer flew up
A canyon. Someone had stretched
Commo. Wire probably for a radio
Atenna.. the crash killed his CAVALRY observer. Wires can be
Anywhere..
Trent, you've probably been asked this question where do you get the music from I gather it's royalty free,Des
Yes, it’s royalty free. I get it from artlist.io and epidemicsound.com
And I thought living life with hot rods was fun!
Since these are experimental aircraft do you have to have a pilots license?
I love your Bushflieger videos. . . everything you do is illegal in our country, very sad!
You're fine with that plane
Removable engine is more efficient than the engine
Bro, getting on that water scares me. I know that plane has like 29" tires or something but i would be afraid of it flipping.
It’s a valid concern if you get too slow
Sooooo. Does your instructors advice. “Look far down the runway” mean anything to you anymore? I forget about that term after a couple rolling hill runway landings
I think it changed a little after I had to take the controls from my instructor a couple times in my plane... 😜 he tried to ground loop it once and the other was just way off where we needed to be
That’s what it’s all about ...........
what happens if tire goes too deep into water?? it may flip !!!
Yep.. don’t do that! Haha
How tutorial made its airplane
I don't want to do this "one day;" I want to do it NOW! How? I live in Chico!
I love you Henry Anderson with all heart
You come tofrotwayn
Gregory Baskin
I love you so very much
what is your prop/ground clearance
keyan, I think I have about 18" in a 3 point position with the 80" Prince prop, probably around 12" at flight attitude
Red bluff?
What's the cost for one of these?
Are some of the shots with a Mavic?
Yep, the drone shots are from a Mavic, there were obviously some shots air to air handheld in the other airplane but the drone shots were all mavic, I love that little drone
@3:38 Have urge to reach behind my head and eject. When cat fails on a carrier it slowly pulls you over edge exactly like that, and 16 ton super hornet has significantly different trajectory.
