The best thing about this movie is its Score, sound design, cinematography and editing. Especially sound design deserves an Oscar nomination while the movie is a perfect amalgamation of It follows, The conjuring, The Babadook, Hereditary and The Ring and best thing is that all these above horror films are among best of all times in the genre. The movie has tried to pick few of the best parts from all those above mentioned films and put them all together in one movie smartly. That makes the movie applaudable but also not 100% fresh. As horror genre has multiple categories from classic supernatural horror, slasher horror to modern cosmic horror, psychological horror which consist of tension building elements, gore elements, traditional jump scares, cosmic elements(fear of the unknown), socio-psychological elements etc ..luckily the film has all of it and the makers have made sure to include in it. So as a horror fan I still rate this movie very high because its very hard make a 100% fresh horror film in the modern times. While in the movie the origin of the entity is still unknown, I would want the makers to give it a cosmic origin then originating the entity from Hell or from Christian Mythology.

Each nd every point is acceptable of this movie. I myself never knew what was anxiety nd depression is. I used to hear people talking abt this stuff but never went through what actually it was. But when I understood what it was, I was patient of anxiety. I have served panic attacks due to stress. So the movie is relatable. That evil exists with us but in the form of depression nd fear. This movie kinda has the same concept like the horror movie, "The Babadook". In The Babadook, 'grief' is shown to take the shape of a monstrous entity and wreak havoc on a mother & child, much the same way as in Smile, where PTSD is shown to be a 'demon' and destroy the life of the protagonist by manipulating her mind. Many people (including some of my own friends) didn't like The Babadook, maybe because it's not the conventional 'horror' movie that people would think it to be, but I loved how it portrayed a human emotion as a terrible creature.
