    We used to eat there all the time when they had a big fixings bar. Usually got their cheeseburgers, used to love putting the cooked mushrooms over my burgers.
    Todd and Michelle, I downloaded an old Magic Kingdom video on You Tube from 1973, and it showed the live singers performing at the Starlight restaurant.
    I could’ve sworn they used to have desserts there, because I remember my son would get their cookie.
    Thank you for sharing your vlog with us and bringing back happy memories.

      We also crunched our numbers from our April 2023 trip and we figure the same trip using either of the dining plans would cost way more! Pre-cov we used it as we liked prepaying coming from Canada but i really don't think we ever saved money...plus tips aren't included! We just bought gift cards instead and "prepaid" that way this past trip

    For the Quick Service Plan, I think a good thing to do would be when you do eat at resort, use your mug but put away the side drinks that you can use later. Its what we did when we would order our kids meals at resorts. We had their mugs and any chocolate milks, juices got put away for quick breakfast or taking to the parks. But you are right. Its gonna take strategy if your goal is to make the best of the plan and not just the convenience of having to not worry about paying it later.

    This is why I love watching your videos so much. You take the time to explain without prejudice, the pros and cons of the revamped Disney Dining and Quick Service Meal Plans. With menus now having most things a al carte or in some cases, a prefixed menu option, it is worth determining what is best for your visit. You provided such great insight and advice for anyone who maybe traveling to Disney next year. With costs so high for everything, it is something to consider when planning your trip. Thank you both once again for all that you do. Both of you bring such happiness in my life by your wit, laughter, and joy in sharing all your knowledge. Take good care of yourselves and have a fantastic week!

    We just booked a package for January and added the quick serve dining plan. We've been second guessing it ever since. The old quick serve came with more snacks. We've also gotten the sit down dining plan in the past. The more expensive restaurants, like LeCellier, you had to use 2 dining credits. That left you one short for your other days.

    • @TravelingAroundDisney
      @TravelingAroundDisney  Před rokem +1

    That all looked so delicious both. Before covid the Dining Plan was normally offered to us from the UK free during the quieter periods as an incentive to book, which of course we would. At those prices staying for 14 -21 nights as most of us from the UK do, no chance, far too expensive I’m afraid! It would add thousands dollars to our trip depending how many of us were going! Great vlog as always 👍🏼👍🏼

    you are right, with the quick service dining plan....you have to order from the more expensive quick service dining. Deluxe Burger, Polite Pig, etc is where you have to use it to get the best out of it. and you really have to pre-plan it all out. and adults need to take advantage of the adult beverages or order milkshakes wherever available

    It gets a bad rep, but I think you can’t go wrong at starlight. Btw, we did the dining plan in 2019, i didn’t really find it convenient or good value. You still have to tip out of pocket, and you have to eat the most expensive thing on every menu to break even. Our 2 week vacation was very much consumed by trying to make reservations on time etc. I don’t think we would use it again. It did allow us to try a great deal of restaurants though. It’s now more expensive, with one less snack. Love your vlog as always.👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Another great video! We previously used the dining plan all the time before you know what. It was a good test for us to not use the dining plan…it made us realize we spend less without it and eat at pretty much all table service restaurants. We were always those people running around on the last day using up our snack and quick service credits on bags of candy to take home. Oh, and I believe that’s where you would get on the swan boats (I think 🤔)

    Great video as always! Just wanted to say, as an experienced dining plan goer (both QS & dining plan), that you also get alcoholic beverages with QS meals (obv if you’re over 21) too. Just wanted to mention it as you mentioned it with the dining plan but you didn’t mention it when you broke down the QS plan. As a Brit, who is usually on property for at least 2 weeks, the dining plan is usually great value. We’re so glad it’s back.

We found that we paid less without the plan and enjoyed our meals more when we could order what we wanted. Then there is the 2 table service credits for dining at a signature restaurant. Def not for us anymore. If a guest does it for strictly budgeting their money allotment - would be my only advice to do it. I feel it’s in everyone’s interest to do the math first. Just to share our experience of pricing - 2 week holiday with lots of great table service meals and we spent approx $800 pp (adults) so it would not of been worth us doing the dining plan. Maybe if you wanted Alcoholic drinks with every sit down meal it might work out but we didn’t limit our food and got no where near the dining plan amount

    Dinings plans are not meant for value…. They are for people who want the convenience factor when they book a vacation package. One less thing families need to worry about food is paid for in advance and takes the pressure off how much things cost out of pocket when on vacation. Personally they are not for me but I can see some liking the fact that food is included when you are vacationing at Disney.

    We've gone 35 times with the dining plans. Free and paid for them,,,,this new plan cost doesn't really give you anything. I think after doing all the math as we have you are better off just paying out of pocket, cheaper this way, or comes out even,,but with the plan u do have a convenience of having it paid for ahead of time and you get your mug,,,,, think we will skip the plan this time. There's definitely less expensive ways to dine 😊

    Disney Dining Plan was a great deal 15 years ago but it has been a push to break even for several years prior to the pandemic. Greg prefers chicken to beef or fish so it was really hard to break even 10 years ago. If you’re not an alcohol drinker, it becomes even harder to justify. As Michelle said though, it is nice to have everything already paid for but I definitely am not going to overpay. Buy a gift card or something if you want to prepay your food.

    • @Dreamingofmainstreet
      @Dreamingofmainstreet Před rokem +1

      Yup, research and strategy is key! I’m not sure if it’s still the case, but in 2019 you could use a snack credit for any drink, any size, any add-ins at starbucks. So we would use one snack for a trenta iced coffee and share. Combo bowl at satuli, platter at flame tree, things of that nature will usually get you bang for your buck. And skip breakfast, youll never break even.
      If you have kids who are old enough to like adult food, id skip ddp altogether because they are soooo limited in options when they are forced to order off the kids menu.
