The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) application process has started for the academic year 2022-23. Eligible candidates can apply online through its official website www.dasanit.or...
This year, the admission process will be conducted by NIT Warangal. Under the DASA 2022 scheme, the Foreign Nationals, PIO, OCI, and NRI candidates can get admission to various UG and PG programmes of the premier Institutes of India.

Candidates have to pay a non-refundable *registration fee* and tuition fee for the *1st semester* along with the DASA UG 2023 application form. In case, if you don't take any college, your tuition fee will be refundable.

Well, there are several options like JEE, NEET, and other competitive exams as per your eligibility and interest. If you want to make a career in engineering then JEE is the best option for you. If you want to make a career in the medical field then NEET is the best option for you.
DASA is not a separate exam rather it's a counseling process based on JEE scores/scores.

Just to let you know, CIWG is a category within the DASA program. If you meet the eligibility criteria for both DASA and CIWG, you can apply to both programs and receive separate ranks. This allows you to select the most advantageous option.

Can a OCI candidate apply to NIT etc through jee mains directly without going through DASA ? What will be the fees of institutions in that case.

As per our research, it's not possible to enter NIT without DASA. DASA is a scheme where OCI students are allowed admission under reserved quota in NITs. DASA UG admissions are on the basis of JEE Main ranks.

1) Yes, they need a passport along with other valid documents for counseling.
2) A student whose family income is less than 1 lakh, falls under the category of Most Economically Backward (MEB) students. He/she is exempted from paying the tuition fee although he/she requires to pay the mess fees. However, it may change each year, please cross-check before applying for the same.

Also they will be awarded super numerary seats in IITs. Sure, let us guide you in this case. Your son is an OCI card holder and a US citizen, so he can directly take the JEE Advanced under the Foreign national category if he wants to take admission to IITs but in the case of NITs, IIITs, and some premium institutes, it's compulsory to attempt JEE Mains.
Yes, supernumerary seats were created for foreign nationals this year in IITs. However, most of the eligibility criteria are the same but we don't have enough data about the rank criteria. Please try to get a good score.

Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with a 60% aggregate or 6.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale are eligible.

DASA first semester payment: $4000 (non-SAARC) / $2000 (SAARC)
*b)* CIWG registration fee: $300
CIWG first semester payment: $758

If we talk about *NIT Surathkal* , Karnataka DASA Counselling Cutoff for CSE branch 2023:
For the *DASA Seat* ,
Round 1- 8064, Round 3- 37088, Special Round- 40284
But this may be subject to change due to various variable factors for eg- The number of students who appeared in JEE-Mains, the number of students registered for DASA counselling and the seat matrix of that specific year when the student is applying for the counselling.

If you have already given JEE Mains through a Nepal Citizenship card. We don't think, there is any issue in JEE advanced. As per JEE Foreign policy - Identity proof of the candidate is required in the form of a Citizenship Certificate or Foreign Passport.
