Dr Vikram Sampath ji completely owned this debate. I feel historians like Mukherjee are opposing these ideas just because they've written books on history only through the lens of one narrative and admitting that will lead to complete disregard of their business, but what they don't realize is that their history books will be read less and less as people of the country realize the truth.

Very nicely hostly debate Saurabh on such a contested topic. I am from Mumbai so I have heard about Vir Savarkar since my school days and I never knew that he was so misunderstood. Vikram Sampath did such a fine job to explain Vir Savarkar and highlight very important point that all different ideas which worked during freedom movement and Congress/MK Gandhi was not the only freedom movement. If this was a trial then my vote is for Vikram Sampat's argument.

By the end the JNU professor was out of quotes and facts and reasoning that he just started to outright say things like I feel sad that you r saying these things even though mr. Sampat had not said those things and in his closing statement he demeans Smapat by implying that he feels like Sampat's "reasoned" argument is based on whatsapp forward...like dude Sampat has only talked about historical references and documents so how does whatsapp forward come into the scene.. so basically the JNU professor was just a sore loser who would rather demean when he doesn't have "Actual" points to counter than just accept that he agrees with what was said by Sampat and he doesn't have anything to add or counter that.
Being so young Dr, Vikram can be way more sarcastic than the professor yet he choose to be on point, no laughing chuckling about anyone just facts and views of many person, and so polite that itself nailed the debate on the other hand the professor knowledge and points are so weaker that it looks like did he even the right person to debate on this with Dr. Sampath. I read you Vikram and your writings with so many quoted facts gives a very large knowledge base if someone goes by each quoted facts.
Prof. Aditya Mukherjee came across as an emotional man with a bias. He should have defended or accepted the "communist leader's" petition letter,, but he chose to ignore it, and give an emotional rhetoric. THIS itself shows that he is selective in his truth . He was finally released on 6 January 1924 under stringent restrictions - he was not to leave Ratnagiri District and was to refrain from political activities for the next five years. As a political internee in Ratnagiri, The British Government agreed on a stipend of Rs 60 per month in lieu of his compulsory unemployment. I have no idea whether he asked for an increment in stipend.

@@NoVideo2024 In Maharashtra or to be precise in Mumbai where I was born and brought. Everybody in Marathi community may it be schedule caste, Brahmins, Maratha etc. Everybody had tremendous respect. There used to be frequent lectures, sabhas on Savarkar and his thoughts. I distinctively remember in our school 8th std i think one of my female colleague gave such a brilliant speech and won prize(where she also criticized MK Gandhi and his non-violence teachings). Even on all India radio Savarkars poem "ne maza she ne parat matru bhumila..." was played zillion times sung by Mangeshkar family with lead singer as Latabai (Latabai was very nasty when somebody use to say ill on Savarkar. She and her father Dinanath were best friends). On political virtually all the political parties in Maharashtra use to respected him. I guess when crooks like Sharad Pawar, 3rd rated backward class leaders like Prakash Ambedkar started this anti-Savarkar speeches. But luckily no one takes them seriously. But the big surprise is from Northern India and also from W.Bengal after 2014 and thanks to people like Vikram Sampath and others the support for Savarkar and his thoughts have reached at such a level that Maharashtra pales in comparison. But I am super happy that people especially youngster like you are thinking independently and in right manner keep it up our Bharat has bright future. As B. R. Vikram Sampath did such a fine job to explain Vir Savarkar and highlight very important point that all different ideas which worked during freedom movement and Congress/MK Gandhi was not the only freedom movement. If this was a trial then my vote is for Vikram Sampat's argument.

Being so young Dr, Vikram can be way more sarcastic than the professor yet he choose to be on point, no laughing chuckling about anyone just facts and views of many person, and so polite that itself nailed the debate on the other hand the professor knowledge and points are so weaker that it looks like did he even the right person to debate on this with Dr. Sampath. I read you Vikram and your writings with so many quoted facts gives a very large knowledge base if someone goes by each quoted facts.
Prof. Aditya Mukherjee came across as an emotional man with a bias. He should have defended or accepted the "communist leader's" petition letter,, but he chose to ignore it, and give an emotional rhetoric. THIS itself shows that he is selective in his truth . @@NoVideo2024 In Maharashtra or to be precise in Mumbai where I was born and brought. Everybody in Marathi community may it be schedule caste, Brahmins, Maratha etc. Everybody had tremendous respect. There used to be frequent lectures, sabhas on Savarkar and his thoughts. I distinctively remember in our school 8th std i think one of my female colleague gave such a brilliant speech and won prize(where she also criticized MK Gandhi and his non-violence teachings). Even on all India radio Savarkars poem "ne maza she ne parat matru bhumila..." was played zillion times sung by Mangeshkar family with lead singer as Latabai (Latabai was very nasty when somebody use to say ill on Savarkar. She and her father Dinanath were best friends).
On political virtually all the political parties in Maharashtra use to respected him. I guess when crooks like Sharad Pawar, 3rd rated backward class leaders like Prakash Ambedkar started this anti-Savarkar speeches. But luckily no one takes them seriously.
But the big surprise is from Northern India and also from W.Bengal after 2014 and thanks to people like Vikram Sampath and others the support for Savarkar and his thoughts have reached at such a level that Maharashtra pales in comparison. But I am super happy that people especially youngster like you are thinking independently and in right manner keep it up our Bharat has bright future. As B. R. Ambedkar said "Gandhi will soon be memory of distant past".

I think every extremists , every liberal citizen must go through this intellectual debate of both the unbiased historian. I have never seen such beautiful conversations on any platform. Vikram bhaiya is my new favourite personality to follow and I will defiantly go through the written works of Prof. Mukherjee as well.
