to answer your question about why the bolt on the seat collar is facing forward and not backward is that the collar should be located over the top of the seat tube that has the channel in it. often times bikes will have the channel facing the back to be less noticeable but they do tend to get mud and grit caught there so in response salsa put it in the front.
Thanks for the info! I've started to notice some other bikes have them facing that direction too. Makes sense!
My brother swears by his TJ, and that dude can rip. You'll have a blast on the trails with the Salsa!
Yeah I've done one ride on it so far and it's a really fun bike. Hoping to give it another go this weekend!
Im always happy when i see you have uppload a new video couse you bring information and humor 🙌
Thanks so much! I'm glad the videos are enjoyable!
Wow! I’m ready to hit the dance floor!
Let us Salsa next time we meet!
Treefort is like right down the road from me in Ypsilanti, MI. Great to hear you had a good experience with them.
Nice! Yeah they were really cool! One odd thing that I didn't mention in the video, is they shipped this bike in two boxes. The front wheel arrived like 4 days sooner in its own box, then the rest of the bike. Never seen that before!
MORE Teal nice, awesome bike.
Nice bike! I feel your pain, I got a new bike a few weeks back and got to ride it all of two times before the rain started in Central Texas.
This rain sucked right? I still haven't gone to ride this bike haha. Other reasons now. It's always something!
I really dig this bike!
Thanks dude! I still have yet to ride it much, but I'm liking it too!
@@CobraKyle definitely some great geo and specs! The color is terrific though! 😁😁😁
Nice one Kyle. I need a hardtail to spice up McAllister.
Thanks Mario! Hardtails are so fun at Mac!
I purchased the fathom 2 29 2021 because of the geometry. If that Salsa would of been in stock for me 3 months ago I might I purchased that being its 65°headtube versus my 66°. I love my hardtail though.. that Salsa was a great purchase for you!!!
The Fathom is a rad bike too. I was strongly considering it, but could never find it available. I'm stoked to have gotten this bike!
Hah, I feel ya man. I’m also in Texas (South East Texas) and it’s been raining so freakin much lately
Seems like it's finally slowing down!
@@CobraKyle I know it, thank goodness!
What's better than new bike day? Double new bike day! :P Congrats on an awesome new ride, love that it comes with 27.5 x 2.8 and WTB STi40 rims ::chef's kiss:: The brakes are definitely disappointing, especially for the price range. I'm a little surprised the Nukeproof Scout Comp wasn't on your list! The Bomber Z2 has slightly smaller stanchions (34 mm) but talk about brakes - it comes with 4 pot Deore calipers front and rear, 203 rotor front and 180 rotor in back. Still, rad new ride :)
Thanks Evan! Exciting times over here at the Cobra Cabana! I do love the Scout, but the seat angle on it is a bit slacker than what I was looking for. They are also super hard to get a hold of haha. I'm hoping to film a brake test between the resin and metal pads. Curious to see how they perform differently!
@@CobraKyle haha Cobra Cabana - exciting times indeed! Totally understand about the seat angle, and to join the criticism caboose, the bottom bracket is pretty low too (causes lots of pedal strikes). I guess I benefit from not having ridden more modern bikes - I don't know how bad I have it? lol These days, you're lucky to find a bike at all, congrats again! Looking forward to more MTB adventures :)
Also I think the seat post collar direction keeps dirt etc from getting in?
Nice purchase!
Thanks I think so too! Still haven't gotten to ride it much lol
Damn you! I want one now!
And you should get one! haha
Salem loves Salsa!
Salem's the best!
Very pretty. Even looks responsive.
Thank you Harry!
Nice video. I’m considering the SLX version myself. It’d be my first mtb (road background). How did you decide to go with the TJ over other bikes on your list?
Thanks! This bike offered the geometry numbers I wanted along with shorter travel fork. A lot of hardtails are getting either too long of travel or too aggressive geometry wise (for me personally). I also thought the spec and color was cool for the price. Nothing in particular really stood out about this bike, but it checked a lot of boxes on my search!
What you think this vs rangefinder? Its obv not the same level since its more affordable but as far as specs. what you think about the ringaerfinder?
Gorgeous hard tail!
Thanks! I'm really happy with it!
Nice. Was this one on order or was it on the bike shop floor?. Can't find an mtb anywhere without an unknown order time frame. Where'd you buy?
Thanks! I ordered this from treefortbikes.com. It said "Backordered", but I submitted order anyways, and they emailed me once it came in stock so I could complete my purchase. Had to wait about a month for it to come in stock.
AHHHHHH i should have known it was a Salsa
lol it was a tough one to guess. Not a ton of Salsas out there!
@@CobraKyle yup
I wanted one but now I'm waiting on a Pivot
Pivot is super nice! Which one you going with Sam?
@@CobraKyle a mojave colored switchblade!
The correct number of hardtails to own is N+1
100% true. I may have a couple more coming in for review soon!
@@CobraKyle Excellent, looking forward to it.
Kyle, do you feel like the new TJ frame is a lot stiffer than the old one? If so, is that in your opinion a negative?
Hey Eric, I can't really say as I haven't ridden the previous generation Timberjack. This bike is my first experience on a Salsa!
lol I love you
🤣👍😎
Poop joke? Really 😆 salsa depends where you go
