Met you in person at the Auto-Tune party at NAMM this year and seeing as I'm getting more into making videos myself this was a nice perspective to have, never thought about being able to negotiating each individual aspect like affiliate links, ad repurposing, etc... Good stuff, I've only had one brand deal so far but this is a good insight on how to move forward again Thanks Matt!
Very interesting video, Matt. I think those of us who've been around a bit realise this kind of things goes on but I like your take on it. A bit of advice for content creators and also a some very clear guidelines as to what you will, and won't, do. None of this a surprise but I've never seen it laid out quite so logically before.

Interesting information. NFR I guess is why a new product gets a ton of reviews and endorsements on the very day it is released.
Companies generally organize release day/ release week “blasts” to push their new product into conversation.
I like hearing people used the word Preposterous ..i never found an occasion to say the word outwardly though

Start working in the corporate world and just don't give an eff as to whether you'll get fired for telling your boss their ludicrous idea is preposterous. So many occasions arise in the corporate space; they're nearly unending. The question just becomes whether someone's got the stones to say it outwardly or not. As the saying goes, eff you money is the money that it takes for you to say eff you BEFORE you hang up the phone.

I know you don’t want to discuss numbers but can you do it using percentages? For example, I’m guessing being paid by a company for a video is the largest chunk of money. Would adding an affiliate link be 20% more? What about agreeing to letting them use your video in an add? 75% more? Would love to know your thinking on this.
I usually allow my videos to be used in ads as part of the package deal.
Affiliate links are generally a % of the sale itself. I’ve never done an affiliate link myself so i’m not sure what the standard is but my guess is 10% commission.

I understand not wanting to disclose what you’ve been paid but is there a general rule of thumb/equation you would recommend when it comes to charging based on said creator’s subscriber count, engagement, and/or resume?
I don't really know because I don't know what other people are charging. I guess it just boils down to what you are willing to ask and what the company is willing to pay.
